How will the broadcast deal be higher? The main piece of content Super Rugby is a comp nobody cares about.

CONFIRMED: Rebels fall into voluntary administration as Rugby Australia seeks 'sustainable and successful future'

That’s actually not a bad idea, as a long term candidate who makes millions for the venue if the rebels got absorbed by the Storm they would probably go close to forgiving the stadium debt. play as the Melbourne Storm IV and let them take care of the SRP operating costs.

CONFIRMED: Rebels fall into voluntary administration as Rugby Australia seeks 'sustainable and successful future'

Weren’t you one of the journalists bagging out Rennie for being too silent and not putting the game out there enough?
And now you say it’s a good thing?

Chasing stability over pipedreams and rent-a-quotes - why RA chose an 'Ordinary Joe' to move on from Eddie as Wallabies coach

How does a sport with some of the wealthiest backers in the country find itself in a position where it has to borrow $60 Million dollars?

Cash-strapped Rugby Australia sign $80m debt deal to help give game second life ahead of Lions, World Cups

I disagree, at present Rugby only elevates the national team and test Rugby, and the brand is weak and the game is broke. They need to learn off the other codes and have an engaging exciting domestic competition to compliment test Rugby, which is still one of the biggest shows in Australia.

'Game has spent more than we can afford': RA rules out any more Suaalii-like raids on NRL in major U-turn

This is such an elitist comment, yes RL and AFL are domestic but Australians love it. Why don’t RA start listening to their potential customers and build an engaging domestic competition rather than telling young players and fans how insular they are?1

You forgot to add how the flames were fanned by journalists like yourself Christy.

'Game has spent more than we can afford': RA rules out any more Suaalii-like raids on NRL in major U-turn

The NRL is just another Rugby competition, US fans don’t care that there is two codes. They will come and have a look if it’s marketed right.

Las Vegas gamble a high-risk, low-reward play by NRL … the US couldn’t care less about your funny little game

Great article Paul, how dare a billion dollar competition try to expand into an exciting new market.
It should be law that RL is only ever played in Eastern Australia and the North of England.

“The unease across the Australian rugby landscape wasn’t on show on Wednesday night, as RA hosted a ‘Golden Decade Cocktail Event’ at the Australian Embassy”

This is a PR masterclass, while everything goes to crap we all read about a black tie event in Paris and how much more the game will get in broadcast money.

Eddie's Wallabies future on tenterhooks amid coaching changes, key ally departs as Waugh returns home

Rugby is far more International no one is arguing that. The Global nature of the game isn’t helping it here in Australia. Clearys profile (in Sydney at least) and talent could help Rugby immensely here.

Eddie Jones joked about signing Nathan Cleary - but he might be the only man who can save the Wallabies

The more I think about it, the moew I think they need to sign Cleary. The guy is mid twenties and has accomplished eveything in League. 3 x NRL GF, World Cup and an Origin. They should try to match his offer of whatever he is on in Penrith, sign him to the Tahs and see how he goes, if he is good he plays test Rugby. If he is not back to penrith, no harm no foul and RA gets a lot of publicity from it.

It is my understanding the World Rugby hold the broadcast rights to the RWC and they do the deal. I’m sure the host country gets a cut but the seal isn’t there’s to do.
My point about Super Rugby is that it seems like the board are being compelled to change it somehow because it doesn’t work as a product or a pathway.

Why News Corp and Foxtel are set to go after rugby broadcast rights despite Wallabies' World Cup flop

You left out a pretty important detail Christy. That the reason Fox are now possibly interested is that 9 want out, they feel they haven’t gotten value from RA. considering RA don’t hold the rights to the next world cups and super Rugbys future is again up in the air, I think the next broadcast deal will be pretty poor.

Why News Corp and Foxtel are set to go after rugby broadcast rights despite Wallabies' World Cup flop

Rugby League doesn’t really exist globally as a code, it’s better to look at the NRL as just another RUGBY competition when making comparisons. And if you look at it like that, it does pretty well. It actually has better average viewing and crowd numbers than the English Premiership, super Rugby, Top 14 etc. The points you make in this article aren’t wrong but it feels like a bit piece on League fans .

Data doesn't deceive: 'Provincial' Rugby League trails in Rugby Union's wake

No shooting, it’s common practice for the sports to sponsor over the Journos. NRL do it, FFA too. All power to him.

Eddie Jones has broken every World Cup convention - it's a high-risk strategy no-one knows will work

It’s pretty clear that Doran is putting out the Rugby Australia message. Gets him a free trip to France.

Eddie Jones has broken every World Cup convention - it's a high-risk strategy no-one knows will work

Interesting how you draw attention to Dave Rennies 37% win record in the first two paragraphs but ignore Joneses ZERO PERCENT win record.

Eddie Jones has broken every World Cup convention - it's a high-risk strategy no-one knows will work

It is because Aussie teams do not win anymore.

What Las Vegas and Denver could teach struggling Aussie rugby

The hope and rebuilding and false dawns have been going on for a decade. There’s a major trophy up for grabs and we seem to diminish it for this narrative we are building for a world cup semi final spot. Wouldn’t winning now be an ideal preparation. For how good we played (as everyone keeps saying) in the first 50 we still didn’t win that period. Is anyone else over this constant cycle of disappointment?

The Wrap: Don’t buy Eddie Jones taking the blame for another Bledisloe loss, buy the hope instead

The comments on here are deluded, we leaked 38 points in Australia! This is embarrassing and there are very few positives to be gleaned from this, Bell was ok, but he was still part of a pack that got bossed. Come on we leaked 6 tries, it’s full on panic stations.

Because the only Journos left writing about Rugby are running a protection racket for jones and McLennan

'Look out': Eddie puts All Blacks on notice despite 'broken car' Wallabies' loss to Argentina

I don’t have a direct line like you, but if they cared about the comp they would put their best team out each week. They don’t so they don’t care

Fine margins: The key ingredient Brumbies must find to take the step from semi losers to Super stars

“Once the pain subsides, the Brumbies will take in the lesson for another year”
The thing is I don’t think there’s that much pain, Australian fans and players just don’t seem to care enough about super Rugby. It’s a strange competition.

Fine margins: The key ingredient Brumbies must find to take the step from semi losers to Super stars

Good job or not it’s clear that he is a media leak for McLennan and this is a bit of a hatchet piece on his behalf and I would happily call him on that.

COMMENT: Few will remember Andy Marinos but history could paint him in a different light
