This is probably the most logical stance to take. You can have the best coach in the world, and we do have one of them, but at the end of the day when the game kicks off if his players can’t tackle you won’t win. Ever.
Bledisloe blowout a damning indictment of Australian rugby
Hi Ozinsa, thanks for your comment. Had the shot been in range and been taken by a decent kicker, I’d have had no qualms with the decision.
My issue, as it states, was that a bloke who’s barely kicked a goal in his life was lining up a complete Hail Mary which he was never going to kick.
That’s a cop-out. That shows that you don’t have faith in your lineout, scrum or even your first-choice goal kicker to get the job done for you, and so you’re left with a hopefully shot in the dark. If that’s the best a team with the players the ‘Tahs have can muster, then it is embarrassing.
As for your one one trick pony gibe, you might be right, but I never promised to be anything other than just a rugby fan so I’ll continue to call it as I see it.
How far must the Waratahs slide before Gibson takes some responsibility?
Thanks guys. The official tally was 6 James Boags and 6 Bundy rum and cokes. But this week I’ve read 12, 16 and yesterday Stephen Moore said 18 beers. It’ll be 24 by next week.
Jack Quigley: Why I blasted the Wallabies on Facebook - and how Michael Cheika responded
Agree with this point, Redback. It’s the reason I’ve back Cooper his entire career, because his first instinct is always to attack and put people through holes. Thought we looked at our best when he came on last weekend.
That said, Foley is still the best 10 in the country at the moment in terms of his all-round game. I’d say the tactic in the RC will be to start Foley, and try stay in the contest until 15-20 to go, then bring on Cooper to raise the intensity.

Thanks, Mania. Much appreciated. I’ve had a lot of people tell me this week that they’ll be watching the Wallabies for the first time in a long time, and that’s fantastic.
