To do this without Johnson, Kata and Tohu Harris, is scary. A lopsided possession and penalty count, the Warriors have certainly been the better side. The Warriors are no fluke in 2018 and with next to no origin players missing in the coming months, they are becoming a scary proposition.

New Zealand Warriors vs St George Illawarra Dragons: NRL live scores, blog, highlights

The Sydney Roosters have overcome the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium this evening. In a game that was low scoring with defence coming to the fore, the Roosters can take a lot away from this game, building momentum for the weeks ahead. The final score of 6-0 may not show promise to fans of an entertaining football game, but this game had a different feel, a grind to it.

The Bulldogs need to go back to the drawing board and look more to the likes of Foran and Lichaa for direction. Lichaa should have taken the line on a lot more in order to provide the go forward for his squad. They certainly lacked a spark and hopefully Dean Pay can stir something in his troops as they face a monumental task next week against Penrith at the foot of the mountains.

The Roosters will need to be much better in attack if they are to flex their premiership credentials against early premiership favourites St George Illawarra next week. Cooper Cronk and Luke Keary were quiet, they will need to be on their best day with the red hot form of Gareth Widdop and Ben Hunt.

Player of the game would have to go to Latrell Mitchell, despite a few errors in the second half, he claimed the only points of the game and looked threatening throughout the entire first half.

Both sides can take a lot from this game, you would think Dean Pay and his Bulldogs more than that of Trent Robinson’s Roosters. The weeks to come are testing times.

Final Score: Roosters 6 vs Bulldogs 0

Thank you to everyone for tuning in and as always I appreciate your comments!

Full Time
80‘ – Game! Roosters win this tight battle, 6-0. Only two penalties in the second half, the Roosters come away. Surely Trent Robinson cannot be pleased with the attacking display with million dollars of talent on their roster. Defence won this game, they should be proud of that effort and can take confidence in the coming weeks. Unlucky for the Bulldogs unable to land a blow.

Just calling it as I see it, want to see the Bulldogs make this a more entertaining affair. See you Bruce!

Where’s Josh Reynolds when you need him?

The Bulldogs lack a player to come off the bench with X-Factor and impact the game. This is honestly one of the most underwhelming performances I have seen from a side coming off such a promising victory last weekend.

70‘ – And with that the Roosters knock the ball on, I think only a miracle can save the Dogs.

If the Dogs get close enough with a penalty. Considering being tackled in the Roosters half 50 times, do you take two?

And the sputtering attack that is the Dogs tonight, cannot bite. Maybe they spent their energy overcoming the Cowboys last week?

54‘ – Dylan Napa returns to the field for the Roosters. Dogs with a repeat set, my fingers and toes are crossed that they can make something of this to give this game some life.

It’s hard watching the Roosters make so many metres, making it look easy while the Bulldogs cannot find the line to save themselves.

43‘ – Jake Friend comes from the field after a front-on tackle gone wrong. Blood gushing from his head and a definite HIA. He is likely to not return.

42‘ – Mbye has to be the catalyst for the Bulldogs attack in the second half, otherwise Latrell and the Roosters left side will get on with it.

Second half underway and the Dogs already on the wrong end of the calls with a shocking knock on decision. Dogs escape with the Roosters unable to capitalise.

Completely agree Your kidding. Last week was a similar result with the Roosters vs Souths game. You would expect more considering the rivalry between the Sydney teams. A new stadium should be put on the back burner, the NRL has plenty of other issues to focus on..

I think Latrell’s problem is he is too streaky. He will have a blinder one week and then be terrible the next. Maybe offer him an invite to the Blues camp to experience the culture and new era under Fittler, but I wouldn’t have him in the side.

Half Time
40‘ – The Roosters head into the sheds up by only a converted try at half-time. The Bulldogs can consider themselves lucky to be only down by six, with clunky attack and defence patchy at best. Hopefully Dean Pay can trigger something within his players at the half. Trent Robinson will expect more from his edges, particularly the right side in the second half. Cronk and Keary have been quiet overall. Expect the second half to change. Next try scorer is critical to the outcome of the game.

Foran needs to get more involved if the Bulldogs are to even make a dent in the Roosters defence. With Roosters down to 12 they cannot even manage to hold the ball close to the Roosters line.

Back to back penalties, four in the space of 8 minutes, the game is tightening and can understand the decision.

Latrell sent to the SIN BIN. Roosters down to 12, surely the Dogs strike now.
