I know exactly who he is, I read his book he is an inspiration for many Polynesians living here in Sydney. Which is why I made the comment that he was treated poorly by Union types when he played here, or were you too busy insulting me to read my commment? Where you come from NRL is taking over because it is a great competition, get on board and be more tolerant. Just because someone doesn’t live in a wealthy area does not mean they should be looked down upon.

Of course I’ve played on the north shore, like so many Samoans I got on the train 3 times a week in Blacktown and headed to the north shore to play rugby. And all of your set looked down on us, just like they did to your mate Olsen. Funny thing is most of our kids now play league and we laugh as the sport for rich people goes broke. Even the Warriors are drawing bigger crowds than the Blues. But you keep being a snob mate.

Cleary is an absolute superstar of Australian sport, Tupou is a good prop who showed a lot of promise but unfortunately opposition coaches worked him out and he doesn’t have the same effect as previous years (of course injuries haven’t helped) one deserves to be on a million plus the other doesn’t. This is what happens when you don’t address poor crowds, they buried their heads in the sand for years pretending that they were ok with four figure crowds and eventually started hiding the figures. The thing is the talent is out here to take on the big kiwi sides Rugby just aren’t developing it.
A western Sydney team in some sort of NRC would work but it would need a connection to this area, they should let the Panthers run it.

As someone who made the trek east from Blacktown to play in the SS for many years I am telling you that the pool of players doing that is shrinking. It is a real honour now to play for the Panthers that it just wasn’t in the past for Samoan kids. Seriously, go to Panthers juniors training (promise you won’t get bashed) and look at the sheer number of talented players, everyone is fighting hard for a tracksuit so they can study around Westpoint and My Druitt Westfields like they are the man. Rugby went broke trying to build the East and it got them nowhere, the Waratahs need to come to Penrith and train here every day, do a deal with Fletcher to rent the Panthers COE, become visible and the players and fans will return.
