Keep Matt Dufty? Yeah every team needs a touch footballer at the back

Matt Dufty has proven the Dragons' decision making is madness

Perhaps instead of a full second division competition there could be a knockout. A four week carnival pitting 16 wannabes against each other. Week 1 – 16 teams = 8 games. Week 2- 8 teams = 4 games Week 3 – 4 teams = 2 games. In Week 4 the remaining two teams play the bottom 2 NRL teams for the right to play in the NRL the following year.
Imagine it! A bit like the old Amco Cup! Cinderella stories! TV Ted!
Redcliffe v Perth, Adelaide v Wellington NZ, Newtown v North Sydney, Firehawks v PNG, Central Coast v Wollongong, Western Division v Ipswich, Mackay v Toowoomba, Mt Isa v Darwin
I’ve solved it!!!!!! Time for another drink!…damn it’s empty

A blueprint for a second division in the NRL

time will tell

The Broncos… not really in the same class as Queensland methinks!!

Not worried by his height or ability to catch but he will be peppered so that his running game will be nullified

Freddy Fittler is one of the few coaches around who could coach us to two losses in a row with the talent he has at his disposal I am afraid. Tariq Sims? (Works with his sister on Nine) Liam Martin? Good honest toiler but can’t crack Penrith’s top team when all are available. Better get Brian To’o to practise catching lots of bombs, Daniel Tupou for me. Jerome won’t have Viliame, Api, Dylan Edwards and Steven Crichton to help him. He is a talent but he may have been thrown to the wolves. He will be overcalled by Tom, James, Nathan, Jake and Latrell and will be lucky to see the ball. NSW should win but with Freddy coaching…

Short term pain for long term gain. Protecting the safety of the players is paramount. The NRL is staring a huge legal battle over CTE. If a few slow learners and boofheads get lost in the process, who cares. The competition has not really been affected. It was always going to be a two horse race between Penrith and Melbourne. Should it have been done earlier? Yeah in 2014 when the NFL settled their lawsuit.

The NRL stuffed its messaging. Have they lost the crowd?

My take from snippets of gossip, innuendo, news reports…may be totally incorrect!!!!!
1. EVERY team was doing it to remain competitive. England cricketer Andrew Flintoff warned his countrymen not to “throw stones” virtually admitting that his team had bent the rules too.
2. SA was pissed off with the treatment of their captain Faf du Plessis on their previous tour of Australia when he was caught using the lollies and suspended.
3. They waited until the Aussies toured to exact their revenge.
4. Cameras were trained on the Aussies until they caught them.
5. Steve Smith said initially that the leadership group knew then backtracked under internal pressure.
6. The public furore demanded culprits be punished.
7. Cricket Australia selected three fall guys to protect the rest
8. Josh Hazlewood claim that he simply gets the ball at the top of his mark has a quick glance and then runs into bowl is a major concern. It is a lie or he is not putting enough thought into his bowling. Surely a professional takes an interest in the tools of his trade!
9. Cameron Bancroft was caught pouring sugar into his pocket in a game during the Ashes prior to SA tour. Mr Innocent? What a joke.
10. Cricket Australia needs to tell the whole truth
11. I think I’ll buy a copy of David Warner’s autobiography

“Full responsibility”? Bancroft’s unease as the fall guy laid bare

Make the game even safer. Eliminate the tackle. Take the kicks out because unpredictable bounces can lead to collisions. Then the transformation is done…touch football!!!!

NRL crackdown set to break sin-bin record

I find it amusing how Trent Barrett received all the accolades when Penrith improved so markedly last year. He was given credit for the Panthers attacking prowess in particular. The addition of Luai and Api was all it took. Luai took enormous pressure off Cleary and the two have ignited the Panthers with the creative service from Api. So Trent got the credit, moved to Canterbury and …
Canberra are lacking speed in my opinion. They have big units right across the park. The new rules have made speed a more valuable commodity.

Panic stations for Raiders, plus poor old Trent

Cody Walker for sure. Wighton and Cleary would offer very little. Cleary shines when he is paired with a creative number 6. Walker first, Luai second choice. Wighten…no

Is the NSW five-eighth role down to a two-horse race?

I agree Paul. Imagine spending years developing a competitive roster, then with very little consultation the rules are suddenly changed and the roster you have spent time, money and energy developing is not suited to the new rules. The Raiders are a prime example. One of the premiership favourites last year, can barely win a game this year. Do they get compensated? (Not a Raiders supporter)

Are shutouts further proof of disparity in the NRL?

Whats the difference between this tackle and Jack Hetherington’s tackle? Bet he won’t get 5 weeks.

David Fifita's night ends slighly early after nearly taking Adam Doueihi's head off

He was lucky to be in a great team that carried him to premierships. Melbourne supplement their star studded roster with average role players like Chambers. What a bore!

Chambers' title dig no worry for Panthers

A new James Faulkner

Daniel Sams underlines all-round credentials and proves World Cup worth

This is a fabulous opportunity for cricket. If breakdancing gets a run, then T20 is a must. Clear the schedules, get it done!

A Brisbane Olympics? Cricket should be included

Warner should be first picked! Far and away our best T20 batsmen with a good IPL record. Should be the captain too! (Yes I know he is banned by the dimwits in power) Mitchell Starc is up and down but an absolute match winner on his day. Alex Carey ahead of Mr “throw his wicket away” Wade, Cameron Green (Why not?) and Marnus is a goer. If you are not taking those blokes I wonder who you would select.
My T20 World Cup squad: 1. David Warner(c) 2. Alex Carey 3. Marnus Labuschagne 4. Steve Smith 5. Mitch Marsh 6. Marcus Stoinis 7. Glenn Maxwell 8. Pat Cummins 9. Dan Christian 10. Mitchell Starc 11. Josh Hazlewood 12. Cameron Green 13. Moises Henriques 14. Steven O’Keefe
15. Nathan Ellis
What would your squad look like?

Australia's Christchurch capitulation poses daunting World Cup questions

David Warner, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Moises Henriques, Alex Carey, Steve Smith, Cameron Green, Mitch Starc, Marnus Labuschagne will make fair replacements. The World Cup conditions will be the complete opposite. If these two teams line up again in Bangladesh then maybe we will learn something.

Australia's Christchurch capitulation poses daunting World Cup questions

“Out of favour Australian all-rounder James Faulkner has said he will be vying for a place in the Tasmanian state cricket side despite not being contracted. World Cup winner Faulkner was omitted from Tasmania’s contract list for the 2020-21 season.”

Or how quick some keyboard warriors are to rubbish the opinions of others!!!!!!

An attacking Josh Inglis could be Australia's Test answer to Rishabh Pant and Ben Stokes

Making International players available to play the whole season is the only way to make BBL a top level competition.

How I’d Improve the BBL

Player loans have been around for years. Isn’t that why Greg Inglis(NSW), Adrian Lam(PNG) and Tonie Carroll(NZ) played for Queensland?

Is player swapping moral?

Take away the contract systems. Lazy cricketers get sweet contracts for the season and cruise through year to year. I bet the hungry youngsters in India need to crack the big time before they get a look at the cash. People who plod along and rarely improve fill the state rosters throughout Australia. No wonder they don’t make the step up.

Bubble or not, the Sheffield Shield must be Cricket Australia's priority

James Faulkner was the answer 5 years ago to our allrounder problem. Still is.

Two coaches for sure! One bowling coach to help the bowling group develop skills – Shane Bond. One batting coach – Chris Rogers. Let the captain do the rest. Can’t see any added value having someone like Langer. I watch his interviews and cringe. “Good enough to marry one of my daughters” “Elite honesty”.

Two coaches a no-brainer going forward for Australia
