I’ve seen the Bash Boost on-screen graphic come up one time and my first thought was, “Oh gosh, what silly stunt are we putting in now?”
I thought the bat flip was a little strange but fairly harmless. This is on a hell of another level.

Dear CA, what were you thinking?

I am surprised that they picked this name after the fuss the TRU was making over them considering the name back in August. I haven’t heard anything about them quieting down or having another jab since.

As for the logo… meh. It’s okay. They did alright considering there aren’t many ways you can make an ant look good on a sports logo, I think the aggressive head-on look was probably the best way to go. The one thing I do really like about it is that it’s got one of the most subtle inclusions of the ball that I’ve seen, up there with Charlotte Hornets. On the other hand, I don’t get why they didn’t use that one colour associated with Tasmania that actually makes sense for a logo with an ant.

Tasmanian NBL team name unveiled

Presumably something to do with it being a quality stadium that generally gets good crowds. You’d have to ask them though.

Brisbane's second NRL team will only succeed on passion

Like I said, a poorly competing team being the sole representative of a piece of the game’s heartland only furthers a case for a second team. And I’m not focusing too much on the performances of all three teams for this year – 2020’s too crazy a year for that.

I think the Western Corridor is worthy of NRL representation and a team there definitely should play within their own territory. Matter of fact, Ipswich Council intends to turn North Ipswich Reserve into a boutique stadium that would host the Western Corridor team if they made it. However, the NRL wants Lang Park to host the next Brisbane team so that it can get a game almost every week, which influenced my pick.

The four bids currently meet the criteria they can pretty well. Coaching and recruitment aren’t much of a factor until after a bid has won the license, although having some early connections should help. And the fifth one stays out the window until you have a team locked in and ready to compete. That’s why I think having a passionate history should play as important criteria when it comes to choosing a bid. That extra edge in being able to appeal to your target fanbase may make a key difference.
When it comes to the Storm, they’re an exception. I agree with what you’ve said about creating a blueprint, and they’ve had the time to build their success and subsequently their fanbase. However, a new Brisbane team will have to try and appeal to a fanbase in a city that’s a fair bit smaller than Melbourne and has been essentially monopolised by the Broncos. I doubt it will work the same way the Storm did without that history and passion.

Whichever team gets the license, I don’t think there should be two teams called ‘Brisbane’. I much prefer a geographic identifier that covers the same general region, but distinguishes the new team from the Broncos.

I’ve heard Moreton Bay Dolphins thrown around a little bit and I like that one just as much.
