It would be a special person to come in, and doesn’t look like many are putting their hand up.
Greatness awaits the halfback who embarks on the hero’s journey to Canberra
If it was your job to pick one of the current halves to come in – who would you pick?
Greatness awaits the halfback who embarks on the hero’s journey to Canberra
You got it.
The seed for this piece was reading that Ricky and the Raiders were chasing players and I wondered why it wasn’t the other way around.
So obviously, to win the comp, in the current predicament, they need a hero. Someone special who is up for a challenge and who can extract the diamonds from the mine of Stuart. In the hero’s journey – it’s on them to figure it out, the mentor can’t do it all, so it would not all be on Ricky Stuart.
Maybe the incoming halfback needs to request their own mentor/whisperer (like Johns at Parramatta) potentially.
Or the Raiders need to speed up the process of creating a Director role for Stuart and bring someone else in if they want to win a premiership anytime soon.
But ultimately glad you liked it. It was fun using the hero’s journey to the quest to find a new halfback and win the prize.

If you mean the lime green milks…no.
Here's how the Raiders write their Hollywood ending
Thanks Dutski, I try and do things I bit different to the norm, and one of my favourite things about sport is all the speculating and imagining we get to do along the way 🙂
Here's how the Raiders write their Hollywood ending
Thanks dogs. Your name reminded me, there is one very famous Raiders player with an incident who didn’t make the team 😉

Hopefully the Tigers can make some of their young stars feel valued and like they are the sort of players that the future team can be built around.
Zac Cini: Superstar in the making
Joey Leilua and James Roberts both have their moments, but it’s exciting to see that there are options and players there keeping them on their toes

I’m very interested to see Jock get a start and hopefully he can build some momentum. Looks the goods.

Thanks Albo!
There is always an amount of hype around new players, and also the opportunity for hope.
As fans of the sport, we can all be prone to both. 🙂

All 4 sides won again on the weekend. There will be lots more people getting on these trains this week!
All aboard the NRL train
Me too. It actually reminded me of my first ever Roar article. Think you might like it/relate: https://www.theroar.com.au/2013/02/12/remember-the-1989-grand-final-i-sure-do/
All aboard the NRL train
Waqa Blake and Tyrone Peachey hopefully have lots of points ahead, they are two very good footballers. They’ll be a big factor in deciding if that Penrith line takes you to the Grand Final.
All aboard the NRL train
Not necessarily – but if Ricky can’t be the mentor then the hero would have to try something different to get there.
The article is definitely hoping Ricky could click with someone, form a special bond and inspire them to greatness.
