Hey guys, let's see... Favorite player would be Lleyton Hewitt for the never say die attitude he has. My favorite game would be the Davis Cup match he and Roger Federer had in 02-03 when he came from 2 sets down and three match points to win. ”It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up.” Is one of the quotes I admire. Another is.“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take and I save a 100% of the shots you do take." A little goalkeeping quote I love to think about before I play.

I don’t see a single comment in the article…

Still, Lyon’s decent, had no complaints about him so far.

Why does Nathan Lyon get no respect?

Will Efficient be featuring on anyone’s list? 🙂

The Roar’s top 50 Australian racehorses of all-time (Part 8) 40-36

But how many tests out of the last 21 have Pattinson, Bird, Siddle and Harris played?

Siddle albeit may have been involved in the majority but as you said, they’re young new bowlers.

You cant use 21 tests when they haven’t been involved for half of them.

This Australian side was able to win over in South Africa, a pace haven. WHich is most likely what the british will make this Ashes series.

As for Pattinson, Id take him over Broad, Bresnan, Tremlett etc; vs Anderson is an entirely different debate, based on current form Id say Pattinson. But Anderson does have longevity and experience

Yet the only way to build experience is to play matches. England to win this year, Australia to get it back next season. I’d tip the brits to take it 2-1 or 2-2/1-1

Back in Australia next year I see Australia winning 2-1 depending on fitness etc; of course.

The Aussie cricket team aren't THAT bad

Siddle has and he has the better average than each of your bowlers.

Pattinson is easily the best bowler in the team, 40 wickets from 10 games speaks volumes when 3 of them were over in India where pace is practically ineffective

Considering the tests have been against SA and India two of the top 4 teams in the world he hasn’t had any minnows to boost his average either.

Pattinson, Siddle, Clarke, and potentially Warner would go into your team. so while you do have a better team as a whole, I’ll say Australia has more players that can turn a game on it’s head in an instant.

The difference is whether those players will fire or not.

The Aussie cricket team aren't THAT bad

With the amount of dropped catches Lyon would have had from Wade apparently his average could be under 29, forget where I heard that stat though.

DIZZY: It's time for the Aussie batsmen to fulfill potential

Watson as a batsman has had an average of 25 over 2 years, he needs to have a good bowling average to get in, something Faulkner has surpassed him with

Rogers
Cowan
Hughes
Khawaja
Clarke
Warner
Haddin/Wade
Pattinson
Harris/Bird
Siddle
Lyon

Am I the only one excited by the possibility of Warner and Clarke at 5/6? If they both fire, imagine the rate the runs would flow at.

Hughes at 3 to try and pick the rate up as Cowan and Rogers know patience, perhaps a little bit to well, but better than anyone in the team.

DIZZY: It's time for the Aussie batsmen to fulfill potential

Perhaps the only suggestion I have is that Crisp could have been in the top 15?

Other than that, a great list, no complaints other than Pharlap above Tulloch… But even then that’s a very difficult decision.

Wouldn’t know, I’m a Fountain man myself 😉

Mariners undone by late Guangzhou goal

Great article, I can relate to this exactly. Sport kinda took a back-seat a long-time ago, viewing wise at any rate.

For some reason I always think of Invictus (The Poem) When I watch sport, the Morgan Freeman effect I suppose.

If sport's a drug, then hook me up

Garricha, apparenly the elder Brazilians often hold him above Pele, and I love his videos

Fun Fact: When the two played Brazil never lost a game

Top five football dribblers of all-time

Andrew Johns I think you mean…

PRICHARD: Barba the most naturally brilliant player ever?

This wouldn’t happen to be the same Vince that writes for he Area News in Griffith would it?

Just an observaion as I’m living there right now.

European football hypocrites and glory hunters

Yep it’ll be fantastic, shame Rafa won’t be there though.

And that forehand return was lovely btw.

Lleyton Hewitt vs Tomas Berdych: Kooyong Classic live scores, blog

I’m still putting my faith in Hewitt to get further this year but Bernie has improved both his attitude and his game. Another year or twoand he could definitely be a top ten player

Tomic serves up a storm in Sydney

Yeah you could see that he dropped his at the same time Hewitt lifted his, the first two sets were horrendous though he couldn’t hold his serve if I remember correctly. The only games he won were breaks. But still he’s looking much better than last year, or it looks like it at any rate.

Lleyton Hewitt vs Tomas Berdych: Kooyong Classic live scores, blog

Hell Djokovic had trouble putting him away last year as well. I thougt he was going to come back after the fourth set.

As for the two of them, Lleytons feet are both finally fully operational I agree though, 5 sets Hewitt. Tomic has been known to give up when it gets tough, meanwhile Hewitt gets better th later the game goes.

That could be a bit of bias though… TheAus open would be the best stage for such a game though!

Hey Alan, loving the commentary. Been waiting for a Hewitt game for the last few days.

Based on their current form who do you think would win in a game out of Tomic and Hewitt? I’ve been waiting or a match between the two for a while, they always seem to dodge each other tournaments.

Lleyton Hewitt vs Tomas Berdych: Kooyong Classic live scores, blog

Neuen I’m feeling the other way, somehow I’m quietly confident we could give it a fair shake, we’ve hit big totals in the first two tests…

Everyone just has to ocntribute not two exceptional knocks but 4/5

As for Warner and Cowan a partnership of 125-200 would be handy and what the openers themselves should be expecting

Can David Warner bat through a gruelling Test?

Yeah James it’s a ridiculous call, both Hastings and Lyon,

If we bowl first Mitch (Either one) better be pumped up and bag some wickets or it’ll be a long day.

Australia vs South Africa Third Test: live cricket scores, updates (Day 1 - Perth)

Lyon will be in-effective, with a bit of luck we bat first and go from there.

Hazelwood over Starc anyday of the week, still though, it’s a strong team. Let’s do ricky proud

Australia vs South Africa Test: live cricket scores (Day 2)

Bat til the last hour/hour and a half and declare? Unless a miracle happens this test will be a draw, mind you Australia bowled well last session once they got the length right….
