Gill was very good in Aus last time.

Think he will end up being sublime this time, across a 5 match series.

I’ve said it it before – Gill is the “most Australian” (and “un-Indian”) Indian Test batsman we have ever seen.

He plays with hard hands and he plays on the up. His go-to is to drive hard, followed by cutting early against the short ball.

In the form he is in, in Australian conditions, I reckon he is going to play a blinder of a series.

Kohli still the big fish but Gill breathes new life into an Indian team which could sink Australia next summer

Think this game is done and dusted re a WA win.

Tassie needed a 1st innings lead batting last and they are unlikely to get anywhere near this.

Spin in terms of ripping it may be a bit muted on days 4 (and day 5 if it goes that far), but slow bowlers with high revs and who use bounce well, will be a handful. And that will suit Cory Rocchiccioli down to a tee.

He already has superb figures bowling on the WACA and this pitch will only aid him further.

PS: That Silk monster edge off Gannon being given not out was unbelievable! 😂

PPS: Those that downplay Inglis’ pure keeping abilities – just take a look at the skill executed to take that catch. That’s not “fluke stuff”. That’s pure in-built keeping ability. You can’t “fluke” that technique.

Sam slams ton before Cooper's super knock puts WA on top over Tassie in Shield final

I think it may already be game over. Tasmania will need a decent 1st innings lead batting last against the spin/bounce on day 4 (maybe into day 5) that will favour WA’s attack and not sure Tassie will even get a 1st innings lead at this point.

Early prediction: Corey Rocchiccioli for MoM.

For another 26 runs there could have been 7 Aus Test tons for the summer.

Australia's batters only scored three tons last summer: Why it is time to move past the obsession of the 'big score'

Tassie will find it tough barring last.

Why on earth would the 20% of Australian households with someone born in Asia and Africa want to go to Europe?
“they”. And in the meantime, Indians continue to migrate to Australia in their tens of thousands each year.
Whoops…you messed that one up when trying to claim the moral high ground! ????

Australia postpone Afghanistan series again due to 'conditions for women and girls getting worse'

Feedback from the curator is there will be a bit of grass left on it so will be good for seam but also for high rev spinners that can get grip from the deck and utilise the bounce. Whichever way it goes, reckon it will be over on day 4 latest.

Round 10 Sheffield Shield wrap – Who's hitting their stride ahead of the big final?

WA has done it without Green and Marsh this season, but it is a shame that the Shield Final can’t have all the best players from both sides playing in the Final, as a showpiece event, mostly because of the IPL.

Imagine the AFL GF involving a team without half its best players because they were otherwise committed in International Rules against Ireland…

Reckon Rocco will have a big game…how are your boys against bouncy spin bowlers? 😛

Putting aside State bias for a moment, let’s hope for a good match where the best team wins and Tassie consequently is happy with being runner-up 👍 Rocco and Paris will get it done 👍 👍

I never liked you 😁

Nah. We’re not a generous lot over this side 😊

Did I overthunk it? 😁

'As much talent as Warner coming through': Ponting's big call as Fraser-McGurk gets late IPL contract

The WACA won’t be a road across 5 days, so a result will happen (forget the chance of any weather impacts). And that result will not being going in the favour of Tasmania 😁

Round 10 Sheffield Shield wrap – Who's hitting their stride ahead of the big final?

What is considered “higher honours” – IPL vs FC – is a rapidly changing proposition. I’d suggest most players in most of the major cricket nations now see the IPL as the “highest honour”.

We don’t really get behind the IPL here in Australia, perhaps because it coincides with the start of the footy seasons, and it’s “over there”.

Or perhaps because CA persisted with going down the opposite path to BCCI re building the prestige of franchise domestic T20 (that CA *still* persists with the gimmicky *bat flip* instead of the toss, says so so much about CA’s irrelevance in this space. I mean, seriously..CA still promotes the bat flip? Why don’t they just get BBL teams and players to revert back to wearing 1980s gear and fake mosutaches)

But the IPL is where it is at re prestige nowadays (sadly for the rusted-ons like me).

6 out of 7 Test wins this summer. What a pitiful, pitiful performance.

The sky cannot fall in on this Australian team fast enough 😁

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

Have I mentioned that WA will be hosting the Shield final – *ahem* 😁

Every Aussie rated from second Test and series vs New Zealand: Heroic Hazlewood, clutch Carey, sub-par Smith

Rejigged Aussie batting line-up fails again as top-order collapse puts Black Caps on track for drought-breaking Test win

Come off it Bush.

We don’t embrace the joy of a contest of a cricket match. Our reason for being is to shake our fists at the sky as to why we aren’t God’s gift to the cricketing world by winning matches by an innings every time our team goes out on the park.

Tour over series and deny the home side a series win? Please. We’re rank amateurs if we don’t thump them in their own backyard each and every time.

Well played Cam Bancroft! Was a season-defining knock for WA!

As much as I’d love Australia to start as favourites, I can’t agree.

I reckon India has the edge on paper, but you never know what will happen in the actual matches. I think it’s going to be a real battle worthy of a 5 Test match series.

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

Sorry Ace, but I think you’ll be travelling west for the Shield final! Though far from over. We lose this and we are out. What an enthralling finish to the H&A season! It must be galling having to barrack for the Vics! 😁

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

Agreed. Following his performance through 2024 will be a real highlight of the Test calendar. No doubt opposition teams will eventually work out their plans to him, but he is likely to have a fairly free run at it for a while.

Carey the clutch king: Gloveman's stunning 98, Cummins heroics keep Kiwi curse alive in thrilling comeback win

He’s an exceptional talent. And he produced an exceptional performance on a wicket that suited him. Would it have mattered who/what the opposition was?

As for calling you a trolll, the reaction to your approach to this discourse was brought on by yourself. Look back at your own comments. You are the one that chose not to look at his performance in cricketing context, but chose instead to go for cheap (and irrelevant) shots at his upbringing – you, very clearly, chose to downgrade his performance by the things that you said.

I don’t have to further justify that, because it is front and centre here on the comments.

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

And what was the context as to why you referenced his working background? We were having a discussion about his cricketing abilities and you made a very pointed reference to his job as a security guard, clearly linking it to his performance in the summer Test series.

You referenced it for a reason. So please provide some context, if you are able.

And please, don’t pretend your reference to his work as a security guard formed no contextual part of your comment. It was a key part of your comment (it’s there for all to see).

So, do you have a response as to why you you referenced his job as a security guard, if that reference wasn’t an attempt to demean his performance in the Test series in Australia?

You’ve used up the lazy “woke” card already, so something more substantive and explanatory as a response would be helpful.

If you don’t think his bowling performance in the Gabba Test was exceptional, are you able to articulate why?
