Bloomin’ weather 😁

'Incredibly proud' Bairstow's think of the kiddies sledge for Aussies over that stumping

Manchester weather is in breach of the Spirit of Cricket too, I suppose.

UK View: Same old Broady, always bleating - 'Unjust' result if rain saves Australia's bid to retain Ashes

Let me guess. Head and Carey as captain and vice-captain?

SevenTEENth heaven: Warner Broad's bunny again as Smith, Marnus brain fades leave Ashes in Marsh's hands

Yeah, well, you know, that’s just like, your opinion, man.

COMMENT: Cummins failed the moral test and tarnished these Ashes. He had the chance to be a legend and blew it

Food for thought, Rowdy. Maybe Haydos has a love sister too, if my theory holds.

Hey, Hey it’s Hayden: Former opener’s boorish commentary style from a bygone era should stay there

I have a theory that might explain things. In early 1971 when the Queensland Legislative Assembly wasn’t in session, Sir Joh returned to Kingaroy and fathered a love child.

Hey, Hey it’s Hayden: Former opener’s boorish commentary style from a bygone era should stay there

I guess that even letting the touring captain decide whether to bat or bowl can only really overcome things so far with this degree of pitch doctoring. Not batting last on it is at least helpful though.

Who are the left handed Indian batsmen in the squad for Nagpur?

India face pitch doctoring claims over stunning photos of ‘selective’ watering as another Aussie star drops out

Ball tampering: sandpaper, Murray Mints, bottle tops, glass, sand, zippers. Pitch doctoring: water, rollers, rakes. The tools of the trade.

Having spinners like Ashwin with a Test batting average of 27 and 5 tons, and Jadeja with a Test average of 36 and 3 tons obviously helps.

Australian squad for India announced: Four spinners key to success as selectors keep options open

I doubt Warner has aspirations to captain a state or national side, more likely he doesn’t want to be pushing around a zimmer frame in a retirement home still subject to the ban. In his position, I’d feel the same way.

'Public lynching': Healy applauds Warner for dropping captaincy ban appeal - 'he's saved cricket here'

So wrong that perversely it’s so right?

The exotically named cricketers from the Caribbean

I’ll meet you with Johnson Kalgoorlie.

The exotically named cricketers from the Caribbean

I don’t know about the rest of you, but the more someone trumpets their own honesty, the more sus I am. It’s a pretty good sign that they’re trying to influence your perception of them, in their own interests. “Trust me!”. It’s like a sales pitch. Alternatively, there’s also often self-interest in trying to persuade you to distrust someone else, so as to control whatever narrative. No one’s as virtuous as they would have you believe.

It's not me, it's you: When Australia's cricketers broke up with Justin Langer

Applying that rationale, if someone says something negative about you, or me, does the onus fall upon us to respond, failing which, whatever was said about us is somehow proven?

Langer unloads on Cummins: 'What is brutal is I’m hearing it behind my back through the media'

Following Sheedy shifting his Director’s vote from Brasher to Barham, thereby allowing Barham to seize the club presidency and actively pursue Clarkson, Sheedy immediately went against the stated position of the new president by stating publicly that Clarkson should go to Hobart to coach. Brasher and Madden immediately resigned from the Board, Allen announced that he would depart following the AGM, and Wellman upon the club determining the Football director. All four Board departees demonstrated ultimate loyalty to the Board, and the stability of the club, by going without public rancour or comment. Here again, we see Sheedy failing to observe his duty of loyalty to the Board, by drawing public attention to its decision making process and his dispute with it, notwithstanding that he was outvoted 6-1. If he wants to publicly take a stand not once, but twice, against the majority decisions of the Board and in the process undermine not only the new president but more harmfully, the new coach, he really has only one option. Resign from the Board, effective immediately. But that would involve an act of loyalty, which clearly in this context he lacks.

Rudi’s qualities as an umpire demonstrated that DRS is only for TV audiences and is otherwise completely unnecessary. The players rated him highly, which is all that matters.

Cricket world in shock as umpire Koertzen dies after car crash

I’d love to see this group of players represent their nation. It’s time to cecede!

Drought broken! WA party like it's 1999 after securing first Sheffield Shield title in 22 years

A great moment for WA cricket! In the fine tradition of Bacchus and Co, may the ice cold Swan flow freely.

WA edge closer to long-awaited Shield win

I’m with everyone else. I don’t want to believe it.

Thank you, Shane, for making our hearts race and giving us pure, blood-stirring joy

Warnie has many attributes and transferable skills. He’d also make a great marriage celebrant.

'I'd do a pretty good job': Warnie's shock pick for England's next coach - himself!

It’s certainly not on the Pyramid of Greatness. You’re on mine, Rowdy.

The captain should be able to sack the coach

He’s exactly the guy, I’d say. He’s been doing it long enough with the Stars.

Another Finch failure heaps pressure on skipper as Sri Lanka ace thrilling run-chase

I guess the question would be how much “Mike Brearley” Finch brings to the role, and whether or not someone else in the side couldn’t provide his captaincy skills.

Cheers, Tony.
