If Boyd was playing I think it would be Brisbane hands down, especially at home.. but without Boyd organising their defense and the ability of the Penrith backs to hit the line at pace and wear down the forwards it’s anyone’s game.

that would be amazing for footy out west

Let’s not forget the daily telegraph taking constant pot shots at players. Sure doesn’t help.

Sharks and Manly cop hefty fines over referees comments

I get out plenty, stats don’t mean anything in this case. You only have to watch a few minutes of that SL series to see that Khawaja needed a lot more than a couple of months to fix the massive flaws in his technique in defense against the turning ball.

Australia vs India Test series player ratings

Khawaja could not have been in the team for India. It’s not just his average against spin but the way he plays it. I have never seen a top 6 batsman be so completely hopeless against spin as Khawaja was in SL except for maybe Joe Burns on the same tour.

Can’t believe someone is asking if a guy with 247 test wickets is part of our best team.

Faulkner is trying waaay too hard to be a genuine all rounder instead of a bowler that can bat a bit.

Smith's brilliance can't hide Aaron Finch's lacklustre form

The argument about Renshaw’s strike rate is only being had by those that have never seen the way he plays and how quickly he can score when he feels like being aggressive. In the lead up shield match before the adelaide test he made a century for queensland striking in the mid fifties after having been 12 from 77 balls and in the second innings made a run a ball 50.

I’m also a bit bemused that the people complaining believe that it was his own decision to bat the way he did. Who honestly believes a 20 year old debutant has any say in the way he’s playing, especially when the captain and vice captain are batting at the other end.

Who cares if it wasn't pretty, Australia actually won a Test

Now Mennie being taken over fo rthe ODI’s in south africa makes more sense. I don’t think it was a last minute decision by any means

Australian Test squad confirmed: Bolter in the bowlers, Burns misses out

it’s the “believed to stand for” bit that gets me off side. He’s written three letters on his arm that are assumed to mean something but might not. He has not come out and publicly declared support for the guy, not has he come out and objected to the one punch laws and he’s made no effort to draw attention to his plight otherwise except for writing three letters on his wrist bandage. Hardly the crime of the century, is it?

it’s possible tedesco might still be in recovery for his jaw..?

Blake Ferguson maybe? Or Greg Inglis

How is that mentality any worse than what Khawaja achieved in Sri Lanka.. or any of the aussies for that matter. The same should be said of that series in the UAE that you’re referring to. Look at Maxwell’s FC record in Australia and his record in the UK as well and what you will see is he gets better the more innings he plays in a row. A couple of innings when he was brought into an already failing team should not dictate his career.

Beautiful one day, a disaster the next: That's Glenn to the Max

what Maxwell’s FC averages don’t show you is the situations he was in when he scored those runs. He has rescued Victoria from embarrassing totals a few times by scoring quickly when the rest of the team has collapsed around him and his centuries were scored on a green demon of a pitch.

Beautiful one day, a disaster the next: That's Glenn to the Max

as per usual

By far the worst refereeing I’ve seen in my history of being a rugby league fan. The bias to Brisbane was so obvious it was comical. I actually can’t remember a single Brisbane point in the match that wasn’t either directly or indirectly correlated with a poor refereeing decision. Even Oates try at the end was a missed knock on call.

James Roberts charged, likely to miss one match

Moylan sure did milk that penalty, but the dogs gave him the opportunity by making a second effort to get him there

Highlights: Penrith knock out Bulldogs, will play Raiders in semi

Maxwell has never been given the opportunity to establish himself in tests. In the UAE he was meant to be a brute force weapon to get the spinners off their game and was under immense pressure to perform knowing he was unlikely to get another test if he failed. But given consecutive innings I could see him with a test average around 45 batting at 5, although I believe that Travis Head is being groomed for that particular spot. Maybe number 6 once Mitchell Marsh is dropped?

The start of a new chapter

Your problem Jacko is that you think it’s all about game day. Most of the world doesn’t get to see what happens during the week, during training, team meetings, etc. After the Mick Potter media merry go round I can’t believe you still point fingers at the coach for Farah’s demise.

What gives with Robbie Farah and the Warriors' attitude?

I don’t hate Robbie Farah, in fact I have no real opinion of him at all. Nor am I a Tigers fan, but I do like to see them do well. For all we know, it might not have even been Taylor’s decision (the board have been pretty damn quiet on the subject, don’t you think?) but in any case if you can read between the lines of everything that Taylor has said since the farce started, it’s pretty clear that Farah wasn’t buying into what Taylor wanted from the team. Taylor put him on the bench, put him in reserves, gave him plenty of opportunity to keep his mouth shut and play the way he was told to play. Instead of submitting, Farah cried to the media about how unfair life is like the giant sook he is and created an untenable situation. Farah literally left the club no choice. There is no way that Jason Taylor is given the latitude to drop Robbie Farah without support, think about it. The Tigers dropped Farah, not Jason Taylor.

What gives with Robbie Farah and the Warriors' attitude?

I wouldn’t underestimate Penrith. They might be inexperienced but they are confident and their structures are working well in defense. I’m not sure there is any team in the top 8 that would feel comfortable playing against them at any point in the finals. Not likely real contenders but good enough to give any other team in the 8 a run for their money.

Sharks and Dogs on the brink of a disappointing exit

I like Patterson. He’s been very consistent across 4 day and 1 day cricket for over a year now. Not sure how he fares against quality spin but would certainly be a stable 5 or 6.

Bancroft, Handscomb and Stoinis should play Tests in India

If Farah had of been playing the whole season it’s more likely the Tigers would have finished 13th or 14th. With or without Farah they are not a top 8 side.

Regardless of today, Jason Taylor has won his battle with Robbie Farah

There is no way that Taylor gets drop Farah and let him move clubs without approval from the board. Coaches don’t have that kind of discretion. At the beginning it was handled just fine. It was Farah sobbing to the media to turned the whole thing into a farce.

Farah does not get dropped because Taylor doesn’t like him, Farah gets dropped because he doesn’t buy in to Taylor’s way of doing things.

Regardless of today, Jason Taylor has won his battle with Robbie Farah

All the game showed really was that the Tigers are inconsistent. It’s only a few weeks ago that they shut down JT repeatedly and were defensively superior across the park. The scoreline was huge against Canberra, but then again Canberra are ripping everyone apart at the moment.
