With the rugby league State of Origin just around the corner, I thought it would be interesting to pick two “State of Union” teams…
Currently, Rio Tinto is run by an Australian and BHP run by a Scot….

Not planning in having a lineout, then?
Wallabies win, but so many unanswered questions remain
It started just after 2003 when the Boks were absolutely dire.
They saw the success of England’s forward and kicking game and thought we can do that better, except the game really moved on.
Before this point the Boks weren’t really a kicking team.

And the Boks are our bunnies again.

very enjoyable game

He’ll probably feel more at home at 9 – less need to stick your head in a ruck.
3D Analysis: Apparently it's the backs that make all the difference for the Wallabies
Ignoring the forwards for a second…
Link spent 10 tests developing the same backline, only making changes for injuries when they occurred.
In that time he won 7 on the trot, and beat the French 3 nil with 2 of those games showing fantastic backline play.
He then goes and changes all that, putting in brand new combinations against the best in the world with no prep time. While the selection blunder didn’t cost the the Wallabies the Eden park match, it did cost them Sydney where a limp attack couldn’t penetrate an even limper defense.
So what does link do? He goes stuff that and changes it all back to the way it was before the AIG tests but after the Bledisloe and Rugby Championship are lost for another year.
It feels like the twilight zone and Deans never left the top job!

No rugby player would do the Ks an afl player does. A good back three player might do 150m with ball in hand a game.
Hunt says Wallabies "definitely not my aim"
I’d switch Skelton and Simmons but that is the correct team with the backline back to normal.
I need thought id see the day I was happy with Phipps starting…
Has the McKenzie, Hooper combination worked?
Kerevi, Gale, Gun and Wilkins are my pick from the QLD teams.
NRC young guns emerging already
Willie O a real many junior!
Egerton was born in png and developed in the act.
Roebuck was developed in Bathurst.
George smith wasn’t at the 1999 RWC.
While I’m at it Link was from Melbourne and developed there. So that’s one less for Sydney.

That should be 3 from country NSW/ACT

Not many players actually come from ‘country’ regions, so what do you expect. Rugby is very much a SE QLD sport, rightly or wrongly, and the blokes who are from the country mostly learnt the game at boarding school in Brisbane, Toowomba or on the GC.
At least the QRU is trying to put a county team on the field unlike NSW Country which is really just randwick plus others…

The 22 that won the 1999 RWC had 5 players developed in Sydney, 14 from QLD and 3 from ACT.
The 1991 team had 6 from Sydney, 11 from QLD, 3 from country NSW and one from tonga.
I fail to see your point.

What underlying issues? He hit his partner and that’s the end of it!
Does he have a character to assinate? I’d say he doesn’t considering what he did and deserves to be treated as such. He is a grub and a coward for what he did, despite how his partner decided to react, and I honestly cannot beileve you’re justifying it in anyway.
What’s your opinion on Tony Veitch? Because he isn’t an all black I assume he is fair game?
SPIRO: Welcome home prodigal son James O'Connor
Sydney stopped being the leading rugby region in the early 1980s. Queensland started to take rugby seriously in the 70s and with that the form of the Wallabies improved dramatically.
Have a look at the best Wallabies and Wallaby teams over the last 30 years, and very few are from Sydney.
It’s just a self serving myth by those who hold power at the ARU.

We won’t need to wait that long I think. In all honesty the squad looks weak and reminds me of the ‘real Madrid’ Brumbies circa 2010-11.

Below you seem to suggest since his partner stayed with him it’s now all ok!!!
Many victims of domestic violence stay with their spouses! Does this make it ok? Absolutely not!
If a Wallaby or some profesional rugby player did this in Australia I would hope he would be rubbed out of the game forever. It is a disgusting and dispicable act, which only cowards resort too.
I don’t need to know him to make this comment. And to be honest you defending him on this page says a lot about our moral compass.

So are you saying Savea is a good person and you think what he did is ok?

Very rough on Toby White. He played very well last week and has been a top club performer for a number of years now.
He’s like Conrad Smith but with 2 yards more pace – executes the basics well.
Also not sure of that backrow. It seems very slow and Gunn is going to have to lift in order to neutralize Hodgson. Would’ve preferred Wilkin to start at 8 over Bucky.
National Rugby Championship: Round 2 preview
2009 was the perfect storm though, wasn’t it.
The game was being reffed in a way that favoured the defensive team and encouraged penalties. South Africa had the players to exploit that.
They had the best lineout forward in the world at his peak, they had the best fetcher in the world at that point in time, and they had the best kicking halves at their peak, one of which was slotting goals at 90%.
As soon as the irb told the refs to encourage positive play, the Boks were ineffective.
England were just a far better pack.
