Geophysicist, vigneron and utter sports tragic. I spend too much time on survey ships, and I'm delighted to have found 'The Roar'. At last I can have an opinion about my favourite sports - Rugby, AFL, Cricket, F1 and Tennis. PS I have no idea how my photo became rotated anti-clockwise. I will repair one day....promise!

Hilarious! The Poms were claiming victory at Edgbaston, vowing to entertain. Well, if there’s anything more entertaining than a fat man bumbling out of his crease for no reason and being stumped, let’s hope England dish that up at Leeds.
Sanctimonious nonsense from hypocritical pillocks. Suck it up, England – you LOST. That’s why Paddy Cummins was grinning.
And why in the name of all that breathes are we being lectured by Piers Morgan? The most egregious turd ever to offer an opinion
UK View: 'He didn't look like a leader. He looked pathetic' - Cummins caned but Poms also skewer 'dozy' Bairstow
Yeah right Baz! You ‘might have’ done things differently. Examine your memory. You didn’t. Neither did Ben. Your attempts at the moral high ground are feeble.
My advice – focus on cricket skills
'Worst thing I’ve ever seen in cricket': Broad, McCullum whinge about Bairstow drama but McDonald returns serve
Fiddlesticks! You ignore the precedents – notably the current English coach in 2006 when he was ‘keeping’, the current England captain in the Lords test versus NZ last year, and Bairstow himself trying the same thing against Labuschagne.
As a popular article elsewhere notes, the England view is that “it’s not the spirit of cricket if it happens to us”
COMMENT: Cummins failed the moral test and tarnished these Ashes. He had the chance to be a legend and blew it
It’s been said elsewhere in the comments, but belief and resilience were, and remain, cornerstones of the Justin Langer cricket manual. While this team has weaknesses, I’d suggest that at this level any weaknesses in any cricketer are entirely in the mind – any player who represents England or Australia has the skill set. If JL maintains his coaching mantra, this team can only improve.
How Australia rediscovered their golden era mojo
I bleed blue and gold, so I’m gutted at the recent spate of injuries that seem to be related to the turf at Optus Stadium. But that’s not why I am here.
I’m no doctor, so I had to look up ‘syndesmosis’. It describes a joint, not an injury. Can someone tell me what Nic Nat and Liam Duggan have actually done to their ‘syndesmoses’ (I’m guessing the plural!)
Thanks all!
Nic Nat injury puts the heat on Optus Stadium turf
I’d suggest that dubbing a match ‘spiteful’ before it has happened is either a simple error or a spot of hopeful ‘schadenfreude’. Gaff and Brayshaw have moved on, the Eagles and Dockers have moved on, only a few Bogan fans and various stirrers in the media seek to keep this particular pot on the boil.
All eyes on Gaff in Saturday's spiteful Western Derby
A good read – thank you Geoff!
Clearly the removal of swordsmen on horseback at the match was crucial, but after that I’m honestly not so sure….
The article mainly discusses the words ‘crusade’ a ‘crusader’ in their original religious sense, but of course these words have taken on broader meaning over the years. Indeed Geoff noted the club’s attempt to ‘rebrand’ based on that broader definition.
Is that not sufficient?
The Crusaders are right to rethink brand after Christchurch attack
Rugger – leeching? What on earth are you referring to? If this is all about the justification for the axing of the Force, i.e. the drain on the ARU coffers, that justification has been ridiculed and rejected…. largely due to the fact that the Rebels were and are a far greater drain on resources than the Force ever were.
The current Western Force team would beat the Reds
Yes you could, and yes you did – or you believed a joke post
