May not be a wise move.

Eddie Jones has second interview with Japan weeks after quitting Wallabies

Great to be reminded of one of the best Japanese exports.

Eddie Jones has second interview with Japan weeks after quitting Wallabies

Listening to Foketi, Bell and Gordon, there can be no doubt that Eddie Jones was a hard worker and had appeal to a variety of players. It seems he wanted the World Cup gig in the hope he could big note himself as the master coach. It is also clear he never wanted to continue long term. The Board was grossly in error in appointing him; reckless in fact.

Still no apology for the appalling treatment of Dave Rennie. How about it Daniel and Phil?

You are an utter champion JP. To coach year after year for forty years is amazing. You may have no trophies to show for it, but I’ll bet you have hundreds of grateful former Under 12s players, as well as their parents. That marks far greater success than any number of premierships.

Can they pronounce his name correctly? He is an exciting player, but I would have thought Marika was a better proposition.

What a fascinating analysis. Great writing. I think one thing Arthur and Stuart have in common is that they both care for their players and their families. Consequently, they haven’t “lost the dressing room”: Still, there must be a point when they realise that a different coach might be able to take the club further. One club has a stable management that supports the coach come “hell or high water”. Stuart is the beneficiary of their loyalty. He did win a premiership in his first year as head coach back at the roosters. The other has been through the lows of appalling in-fighting and woeful administration. In fact Arthur almost single-handedly held the club together during those horrendous years. Give them both another season, but with a performance clause built in perhaps.

Great point

How do you drag the Wallabies from the gutter to the Lions in 2025? You harvest the pick of the NRL crop

Thanks for the correction. Mahoney at half would be interesting, but he needs to back to the Eels for his own sake.

I see. Sorry to annoy you.

So just pretend Dave Rennie had remained as head coach. We would have enjoyed a better RWC, perhaps might have made the quarter-finals. Rennie would have been honoured appropriately and his assistant, Dan McKellar, would be free to step in if required. That would have been better than the monstrosity we now face.

CONFIRMED: Eddie blames RA for early exit as Woodward calls for Rennie apology, ex-ABs coach linked to role

Please Mr Chairman. I don’t doubt your business skills and all the political nous you possess. I do doubt very seriously your understanding of what nurtures a team and brings loyalty and confidence to the staff and players. You oversaw and probably led the monstrously stupid decision to sack Rennie and bring in Jones. It was a decision that had so many flaws for all of us to see; it was destructive, disruptive and doomed to fail. So…..

Great suggestion — fully agree

A letter to RA, that has never been answered, on the sacking of Dave Rennie

Agree totally, except I wouldn’t be whispering, I’d be shouting. Especially to Matt Philip.

'The guys' phones were blowing up': Everything Hoops said about fans' reaction, Quade's WC hopes, and Argentina

Something to consider: Is Michael Hooper the best all-round Wallaby ever? In terms of gut-breaking desperation and determination he has no peer. He plays well beyond his weight and has an unparalleled ability to be in exactly the right place at the moment he’s needed. He is an unusual and effective line out option. He carries the ball effectively, and often sneaks surprising metres, and he always maintains possession. His tackling is incredibly brave and decisive, and if he isn’t the best on-ball presence in a tackle in world rugby, he must be close. He is not afraid to lead from the front, and he is astute. He must be somewhere near the very top.
