I used the information at hand, based on every game Samoa have ever played, to make a factual declaration. And, for the record, I called it “one upset” not “a one off upset”.
But good luck with your crystal ball.

Samoa jagging one unexpected win is no reason to blow up international rugby league’s tiers

Samoa have beaten a Tier 1 country once. Ever.
And the team they beat flogged them 60-6 less than a month ago.
It’s the definition of a one-off upset.

Yeah, I think it was probably a bit much of me to say the ‘English’ won a World Cup, given their title win in the ’70s was as Great Britain.

Love rugby league but hate England? Then seeing them lift World Cup trophy will be a win

So then I’d say it’s worth including “the imperfect but not ridiculous logic that…” at the start of the quote.

How Ryan Matterson keeping his $4000 could change the whole NRL

So what do you want out of this? Mistakes are OK to be fined?

How Ryan Matterson keeping his $4000 could change the whole NRL

Didn’t say they don’t occur, just that when colours them.
Case in point is Matterson – he was given the option to pay a fine simply because it was a finals game. Any other game and the match ban was non-negotiable.

Better question is whether he’d have been cited if it had happened in Round 25 – this game has shown time and again that when an incident occurs definitely changes how they penalise it.

Me too. Cos plenty would be in favour.

Matterson’s relevant quotes on the matter were: ““At the end of the day, I didn’t do anything wrong. I’m playing rugby league, it’s just getting quicker and quicker and people are getting stronger and stronger – and the game keeps changing rules… At the time I thought it was definitely a penalty, but I didn’t think it would go much further than that.”

I should have just used Matterson’s quote, which was (in part): “If you do something wrong at work, they don’t take money off you.”
Instead, since some jobs obviously do, I provided the comment that it’s “imperfect but not ridiculous logic”, which I think pretty much sums up this thread?

Where are you getting that quote from? I didn’t write it.

Don’t know if you listened James Graham’s podcast Head Noise, TB? Was great stuff and Graham is a particularly engaging talent – insightful, intelligent and irreverent (typical Scouser).
But Graham’s conclusion about how to mitigate the issue of head injuries included compulsory annual head and mental-health checks for retired players.
Retired players. When the damage is done.
Seems the whole game, even those with the best intentions, focuses on the wrong end of the issue.

I’ve been over this… We were having a sleepover and a robber came and wet my bed. Then he folded the bed back into the couch and disappeared into the night.

Booing Latrell doesn’t necessarily make you racist, but it probably makes you a jerk

Opposition supporters may also occasionally remark “good show”, though it will be tolerated rather than encouraged.

Morning Dutski
It’s worth noting that there was not the relentless booing of Latrell at every touch in Round 3 of 2022 – the first game he played against Easts after the Manu hit – it started this month.
As I say, I somewhat get Easts’ angle (should that be anger?) and Latrell being a former Rooster absolutely plays a part in their booing of him.
It’s a hypothetical, sure, but if Tom Burgess ended Joey Manu’s season with the same shot in ’21, reckon he’s copping the boos all game?

Thanks, it’s nice to be recognised.

Isn’t it brilliant radio? They’ve found a truly unique talent in young Christopher, reminds us of why we love footy in the first place.

Roosters-Rabbitohs rivalry overblown, overdone and (thank God) over for 2022: Worst game of finals

Can’t speak to the others but the Knights’ set up has multiple training fields and claims to be a community asset – we’ll see during the off-season I guess.
Can confirm I’ve seen all of the women’s grades training there but, given it’s located literally next door to the stadium where they play, no need for a dedicated women’s home ground.

Manly with a late push to be named NRL's worst-run club in 2022

Man, that was the granddaddy – supposed to have a film studio in it, which they used to recruit Jamal Idris with the promise they would help launch his TV career.
“We do, we do.”

Never claimed a wooden spoon, the Sea Eagles.
And I love that sign – “Manly hates you too”

Manly with a late push to be named NRL's worst-run club in 2022

No, I didn’t.
I called 100% Footy garbage (it is) and said tackling low is not more dangerous than tackling high (it’s not – although, again, I acknowledged more people get hurt doing it because more people do it).
If you want to engage the issues I’ve put forward, I’m all for a discussion.
But if you want to invent an argument based on things I didn’t say, you clearly don’t need my input.
Have a good one.

A measured discussion about an important issue in NRL? Ha! Let's just scream about concussion!

Never said low tackles don’t cause concussion – quite the opposite: “More players get hurt tackling legally, but that’s because it happens more often than illegal tackles.”
Illegal tackles are far less common yet far more likely to end in concussive incidents and injury in general. You’ll note that your cited study didn’t have a counterpart in which only head-high tackles took place, because that would be far too dangerous to allow.
And while that study is for sure worthy of the required support to investigate further, it doesn’t really apply here given no one is calling for the NRL to change legislation to make tackles above the armpit illegal. We just need to protect the head, which Coen Hess getting sent to the bin and a week out of the game suggests is happening.

Had this weird feeling watching the NRLW team play. Apparently it’s called “enjoyment”.

With their season in the toilet, where to for the Newcastle Knights?

Whoever it is, there is a Zapp Branngian-esque quality to their helmsmanship: “By jackknifing from one problem to the next at breakneck speed, we might just get some kinda gravity boost… Or something.”

With their season in the toilet, where to for the Newcastle Knights?

Roosters supremo sounds like a decent slice.
Bulldogs supremo? Not so much.
As for Tigers supremo, reckon you’d end up in prison for that topping.
