Forgot Newnes he is a very good pick up. Eddie would benefit the club in a off field role for mine. Play the youngsters, get games under the belt far better option.

Whitfield shuns free agency to sign monster extension with GWS

Gold Coast have finally turned the corner extending the contracts of Rankine, King and Lukosius. Recruited 4 outstanding prospects along with two experienced more than handy players in Ellis and Greenwood. Carlton recruited (to play) a 33 yo has been, payed another one millions after seven years of mediocrity, another player who has under gone a knee construction and with another high pick overlooked better prospects regarded by a lot of good judges to pick what was seen to be a roughy, but all due respect he could surprise. You have to hope but if i was a Blues man i would be disappointed.

I can understand the mindset of Victorian fans who keep saying it is impossible to make the travel factor just even a little bit fairer it is amazing how even smart people struggle thinking outside the square. I guess if i lived there i would be the same.

The decade that was: Geelong Cats

Yeah St Kilda this year, maybe Carlton next year North the year after Freo, anybody but the big 4. No point in showcasing the best overseas.

The decade that was: Geelong Cats

A Richmond V Geelong game would attract a bigger crowd at a first class venue in Perth than Kardinya Park especially the weekend the weagles and dorkers are away. They have heaps of support over here and i am sure at least 20,000 would come over, split the takings. No one has to be home . In fact they will be both away. Great showpiece for the AFL.

Great call Cracka 100% spot on.

The decade that was: Geelong Cats

Yeah the poor old Struggling Suns have to fly all the way to China while the Vic teams are tucked home in bed. The Suns flight schedule is a huge challenge as it is. This is a exhibition game that should attract one strong Victorian side at least. Stop harping on the home team crap. When Australia play Ireland in America neither are the home team. Teams that travel more in Airline flights are disadvantaged. It is a proven scientific Fact.

Who the faark is boots ?

Hurn steps down as West Coast captain

Simply not true again…..printing before you even Think !

The decade that was: Geelong Cats

Port have a horror draw……Don’t ever see Geelong or the Tigers flying to China the N.T. or even Tassie. No that might even up the flight travel.

The decade that was: Geelong Cats

I know it is a debate that can go back and forth for a week but no thanks. Typical of your mindset ” there has to be a home side ” Complete garbage ! there does not have to be a home side, Typical of the mindset and not thinking outside the square. Fairer is possible but the so called present AFL is not going to change, it is focused on money only. Victorian clubs get first preference to play finals simply for the financial gain.

The decade that was: Geelong Cats

So your saying it is not possible for two Victorian sides to play a game outside Victoria or Tassie ?

The decade that was: Geelong Cats

I agree on Geelong…… but Port how can that be ?

The decade that was: Geelong Cats

Not inaccurate at all. Hawthorn and North fly more than Geelong making regular flights to Tassie as well i cant recall Geelong ever going down there. Even Freo have been 5-6 times and if Freo got 16- 17 games in WA like Geelong do in Victoria, they to would be gifted a finals berth like Geelong. You SHOULD be well satisfied with your soft draw. The same does apply to Richmond and Collingwood . Maybe one day we will break the VFL version and have a more fairer AFL. It is doubtful because the mindset of the current VFL says it can’t be fairer.

Good call Geelong should always make the eight with there gifted draw. Very little flights out of the State. A short run to the MCG lots of games at the home of GF.

Hurn no doubt a great player ,bloke and a model of a captain. Up there with another SA born in the great Pav. McGovern has to be next for mine.

Hurn steps down as West Coast captain

I am with you on Mundy !. What has Fyfe really done ? Has not led them to any greet heights great player leads by example but given the job way to early. When asked what change he would make if he was CEO for a day, ” i would scrap players who are suspended to still win the Brownlow medal ” no reference of a better deal for the club. Something a Mundy or Pavlich would ever say.

Hurn steps down as West Coast captain

Blind freddie could see that JK was struggling big time last year but without him they can’t win the flag. This is there last chance, he will still draw a quality back man. Darling can’t do it alone. With old Hurny, Scohie, Jetta and co weakening and the loss of Rioli things are going to fall apart pretty soon. Pushing JK hard in the preseason makes little sense as well.

Eagles to put Kennedy to work

Last season Betts in a far stronger team than Carlton kicked the big majority of his goals against weak opposition, From his 37 twelve (12) against the Suns all up 24 against teams in the bottom half of the ladder, Seven (7) goalless game. At 33 yo it is a poor decision to recruit him to play. He would be far more value in a off field role. It was obvious last season that he was in decline many crows fans were calling for him to retire. Doubt he will last the year.

Bolters, sliders, and everything in between: a conversation about the 2019 AFL draft

Macca- Hard to believe your criticism of the Suns. Carlton recruited a young chap with there first pick who sadly has done a knee and history shows it can lead to more, hopefully not but a high risk. There second pick has most experts scratching there heads especially overlooking Sharp and Robertson just to name two. Recruited a 33 yo who in a good side who WAS a good player who only kicked multiple goals against the weaker sides last year. Got a bloke for Free and paid him Millions who has been ordinary, which can only have the lower paid players scratching there heads. Hoping Dew is good at this game, the Suns have done very well for mine.

Bolters, sliders, and everything in between: a conversation about the 2019 AFL draft

I agree with Maddy the Suns have recruited 4 exceptional footballers in Sharp, Flanders, Rowell and Anderson, if they can extend there contracts like the did with Lukosius, Rankine and King and with top recruits Ellis and Greenwood there going to be a force sooner than later. If they focus on one or two big fish with big dollars next year it would add excitement into the game.

Bolters, sliders, and everything in between: a conversation about the 2019 AFL draft

Take your point but the clubs that overlooked Sharp. 26 players were taken before him is unbelievable. Love Serong but Sharp is a worthy top ten pick as well.

Bolters, sliders, and everything in between: a conversation about the 2019 AFL draft

The steal in the draft is no doubt Sharp equally as talented as Henry. Hopefully he catches the home sick bug. Lasting till 27 is unbelievable.

Bolters, sliders, and everything in between: a conversation about the 2019 AFL draft

I agree Hill’s missus was showing no signs of sickness when he renewed his contract. Like most it was more the dollars i am sure and i don’t begrudge him on that. I am far from convinced yet it was a sweet deal only time will tell but in the short term he is a huge loss.

Bolters, sliders, and everything in between: a conversation about the 2019 AFL draft

I agree despite 25 years of tough times a new coach more skilled youngsters to join a good squad of which we will see the debut of Sturt and Valente it is exciting. Longmuir will have learnt watching his club over the past and turn it around.I don’t expect miracle;s from him but he adds a fresh look around the club.
