It’s no secret that Sean Shelby has hand-chosen Victims for Ngannou so far and it’s also no secret that he has several areas of his game that we haven’t seen tested yet.

The good news though is that we will probably find out just how good he really is if he does indeed fight Stipe Miocic in 2018.

Stipe Miocic versus Francis Ngannou is a can't-miss fight

I’m not willing to declare him the uncrowned champion yet, but I’d bet he holds UFC gold before he hangs up his gloves, though.

Stipe Miocic versus Francis Ngannou is a can't-miss fight

Francis Ngannou just has a magnetism to him. I watched the card with some casual fans on Sunday and as soon as Ngannou was shown on the screen they were hooked.

Max Holloway is probably 100x the fighter he is, but he didn’t even make them look up from their phones once.

Thanks for the read, Josh.

Personally, I don’t think Mark Hunt gave the UFC much choice in the matter. It would be a PR nightmare if the guy who spoke of slurred speech and memory loss flew to Sydney a few weeks later to get his brains beaten in.

The flip side, though, is if the UFC isn’t going to book him, it’s not right to hold him hostage in a contract when he still has three fights left on his deal.

Mark Hunt's UFC career could be over

I didn’t argue that his lack of popularity takes away from his argument for GOAT. I said his list of victims needs to include others that are the best of his era to be considered the best ever.

Demetrious Johnson isn't MMA's GOAT

I agree with everything you said there beside the part where you said DJ was boring. I disagree so strongly on that one. Sure, he is in one-sided matches, but personally, I have never been bored watching him compete.

Demetrious Johnson isn't MMA's GOAT

The difference between Mighty Mouse and St. Pierre is that, while he did refuse to make the move to middleweight, he lorded over a much better roster of fighters.

Demetrious Johnson isn't MMA's GOAT

Not getting along with Dana White isn’t on DJ’s list of problems. Dana hated Tito Ortiz so badly that they were supposed to actually fight each other in an exhibition boxing match, but he was still his biggest draw for years.

Jon Jones, too, has butted heads with Dana White and that never hurt him. If anything, Johnson’s public spat with Dana earlier this year helped his popularity, not hindered it.

Demetrious Johnson isn't MMA's GOAT

For the UFC to promote Demetrious Johnson, I feel they need to step out of their comfort zone. The UFC knows one way to promote a fighter – the Ronda Rousey/Conor McGregor rocket treatment – and if you don’t fit that mold of a supestar then you don’t get that treatment.

I believe there is a way to promote DJ. He is an avid gamer and streams on Twitch several times a week. Why isn’t he at E3 every year? Why isn’t he at game launches? Why isn’t he getting write-ups on game sites?

Perhaps it’s because they don’t want a piece of DJ. But the more likely answer is because nobody within the UFC has really tried these routes to promote him.

Unfortunately I think you’ve come to the ggg party too late. He has looked slower over his past two fights. It’s a shame that he was ducked by big name opponents during his prime.

Inept judging spoiled an instant classic

100% agree that it’s a shame we are talking about judges right now. That fight was outstanding, I wish that was what we all wanted to talk about.

Inept judging spoiled an instant classic

In Nevada, NSAC director Bob Bennett asks judges to explain their scores in behind closed doors meetings.

As for your idea to video review and re-score bouts, the problem is judging is still subjective. You and I could watch the same round and pick different winners, even with the benefit of video replay or fight stats.

Inept judging spoiled an instant classic

The only judge that needs to be investigated is Adalaide Byrd for giving GGG only two frames. I disagree with the draw card, but it’s not outrageous.

Inept judging spoiled an instant classic

I don’t think a 114-114 draw or even 115-113 Canelo are bad scores. Byrd’s 118-110 was the stinker.

Inept judging spoiled an instant classic

I agree that Canelo is better at a lighter weight but a part of the reason for his deteriorating pace was Golovkin’s pressure. He just never let’s up.

Inept judging spoiled an instant classic

The funny thing is, Canelo and De La Hoya have already started to shy away from rematch talks. If you ask me, I say rush to the rematch. GGG is on the downslide, Canelo could realistically close a trilogy winning the next two.

Inept judging spoiled an instant classic

By Byrd’s card, GGG only won the fourth and seventh. I just don’t see how someone comes to that conclusion.

Inept judging spoiled an instant classic

I know I’m in the minority here, but Canelo-GGG is still my number-one priority on the combat sports calendar.

Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor preview and prediction

I have spoken to people around McGregor over the past few months. They all believe he can do it.

It’s not fake, he’s not just here for a cash grab. He believes he can do it.

Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor preview and prediction

I feel like the circus has already jumped the shark, personally. This is fun and all, but I’m looking forward to it being all over.

Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor preview and prediction

The chances of McGregor landing an “illegal MMA move” in this fight is almost nonexistent. There are provisions in the contract that indicate he will lose a giant chunk of his purse if he does. Mayweather has suggested it’s 90%, but that sounds outrageous.

If the ref deducted a point at least once, the fight would’ve been a draw. If he deducted two, Holm would’ve won.

UFC women’s featherweight championship bout: Holly Holm vs. Germaine de Randamie

Round five:

The final rounds begins and de Randamie is definitely in the lead on my score card but she is exhausted and ‘The Preachers Daughter’ is gaining on her.

De Randamie charges but eats a left hand that wobbles de Randamie. Holm pushes her against the cage and fires a hard elbow to her opponent who looks to be in real danger here.

De Randamie is bloodied, and Holm is ladning some nice shots against the fence when the referee splits them up. A more reckless Holm fires machine-gun-style strikes, before clinching again and pushing the fight against the fence.

Holms output has now slowed down the stretch, and she continues to pour on the punishment in the dying seconds of the fight, 10-9 Holm (48-47 de Randamie)

UFC women’s featherweight championship bout: Holly Holm vs. Germaine de Randamie

Round four:

Despite de Randamie’s blatant cheating, Holm does look fresh here. She is faster, and darts in for a takedown attempt. The striker defends, but is stuck against the cage. Holm is active, but this awful referee splits them up.

Holm is the more active fighter here in the fourth, and really wants a takedown. She is working hard to secure the takedown, but de Randamie has it scouted.

The Dutch striker is really tired, breating with her mouth open and doing little offensively while Holm works against the cage fence. The bell sounds, and thankfully de Randamie doesn’t throw a punch, 10-9 Holm.

UFC women’s featherweight championship bout: Holly Holm vs. Germaine de Randamie

Round three:

The third round starts with de Randamie apologising and Holm accepting, but Holm could be really hurt here. Holm goes back to creating space and moving, choosing to engage less and less here – not a good sign.

De Randamie avoids a string of kicks, walking down the boxer. Holm lands a low kick, before again clinching and looking for a takedown. De Randamie stays on her feet, and returns to the clinch.

De Randamie again lands a punch after the bell, and the ref again decides against deducting a point again. That is awful refereeing, 10-9 de Randamie.
