The 6N has and always will be the big ticket when it comes to making money. Historically that’s not translated into WR success.

My opinion on that is that 6N and the provincial comps don’t expose you to touring like super rugby and the rugby championship.

It’s not one out of ten it’s the fact he didn’t play in the two most important games.

I believe it was the latter. I had the luxury of watching it at my local rugby club with many northern Irishmen whom I play alongside.

They were repeatedly saying throughout the game “he never makes mistakes like that”. One example was Doris dropping that sitter under no pressure from the opposition at all.

John Hart’s glorious Athletic Park heroes, how Australia had the last laugh, and could Ireland suffer the same fate?

An example on how pressure can change in an instance.

I suspect Marcus was under a significantly less pressure attempting that drop goal than he would have been just moments before had Bernie not had his brain explosion.

Lot of what ifs CPM.

I like to play that game too. What if NZ selected their best team etc etc

“ I assume your article references the fact that the Ireland under 20s have only lost one match in the last 20 plus games”

For that to be true you have to ignore the other couple of times they lost though?

Nice slant on the NH v SH argument. I’ll give you that.

Oh I’ve given England their dues. They did play well didn’t they?

Just happen to think that Ireland choked at the business end of that game when the pressure came on for reasons I’ve already laid out.

Tell me, how many teams choke against a team that’s playing poorly? Or does that just not happen?

Yes that bit was obvious. Just how much of one it was is becoming more apparent.

The highest winning percentage over the past few years just shows how much of a missed opportunity the last World Cup was for Ireland

They haven’t played in four months… using that logic Ireland if the beat SA can’t be the best in the world come November as they won’t have played for four months.

Ireland are a different team when Aki isn’t playing. If Ireland had done the unthinkable and won a playoff game Aki would’ve been world player of the year.

They rely heavily on JL JGP and BA.

I can’t see replacements at the same level or even close for that matter coming through the ranks.

Hard to see either of them being starters at the next RWC given their age.

Seems weird to label them the best team in the world after they’ve just played below par for the past two weeks and missed out on not only the super slam by a wide margin but the slam as well.

There is a team that is ranked a head of them who has won a knockout game recently who are currently the world champs. Seems fair to acknowledge them as the best team in the world does it not?

The way I see it was the worlds best team, the team that reminds some of the 2007-2011 All Blacks, the team that was going town back to back grand slams and the first ever super slam… I could go on.

Well that team, well they had the ball, just 90s on the clock, they had the lead, they also were playing against 14 men. Everything was in their favour, they even held the lead as the clock turned red… Then they choked. They didn’t want to be there in the end, Tadhg Beirne with the brain explosion begging the referee to penalise him. I’m sorry, it’s a choke.

Depends if they were the better team because the other team choked I guess.

This Irish team was the best in the world remember. They had the lead with minutes left. They choked

😂
The Calcutta cup, whilst it looked a good game on the scorecard. Neither team could catch a cold that day.
That being said the atmosphere at the Calcutta cup is second to none. Hearing Flower of Scotland in Murrayfield is spine tingling.

It is when you were “the best team in the world” going to win “back to back slams” be “the first team to win the 28 point slam” and were leading by nine points before letting that slip and finally getting back in front with 7 to play to hand it back to them at the end.

All that against a fired up England team that just lost to Scotland in one of the worst games of rugby I’ve seen in a long time.

Ireland choked. They couldn’t handle the pressure. It was telling at the end there they were begging the referee to penalise them on their line.

My favourite was Jamie Heaslip

He lost a great opportunity to keep his mouth shut.

What’s that saying? A fool and his money are easily parted?

The SRU and their grass root committees are a shambles. They actively make it hard for players to join the sport. It’s almost like a prerequisite of being on these committees is to lack any common sense.

The Super 6 being scrapped was five years in the making. It’s been a terrible competition and the teams themselves are undecided if it’s even worth finishing the final year.

And there goes the Super 6.

Can’t find many people that rave about the Super6

Perhaps we should be looking at why they have less players than the countries you suggested. The unions here do not make it easy for players to play.

All the red tape is driving players away.

What do you think the Scottish Rugby people say? Are you involved with Scottish rugby?

Because the game is so complicated that referees miss so much. Savea was starting from the goal line which is why teams opt to overthrow a lot on their own line.

Another example was Kolbes challenge on Mounga in the air. Whilst they were looking at the legality of the challenge they completely ignore the fact he was 10m in front of the kicker.

Angus was following play. There was nothing active about his tackle.

That is the problem that a punch to the face is treated the same as something that he had no control over. The speed that that happened the only way he avoids that is if he’s not following play.

That’s the issue.
