“Expect something ridiculous here.” Read my comment below. And I think mine is more ridiculous than yours.

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Match Week 5

SYD 2-0 CCM – Expect the Mariners to fade here.
WUN 4-3 PER – Should be a lot of goals here, with both clubs having lethal attacks. Wunited’s defence is better, so they’ll take the points.
ADE 3-2 MEL – I expect Perth and Adelaide to have massive home ground advantages, and Adelaide will bounce back at Coopers.
WEL 2-1 NEW – Wellington to get some luck and win, Newcastle to lose yet again.
MEL 4-6 PER – Expect something ridiculous here. Both teams have good attacks, but have very horrible defences. Perth look the more lethal of the two, and will breach the Victory defence enough times to cover for their own defensive woes.

MCY 2-1 WUN

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Match Week 4

And Newcastle interacted with Macarthur just 3 days prior, so technically, Newcastle should still be “dirty” in Queensland’s eyes. I mean, Perth’s game with Adelaide was delayed 96 hours for that very reason. So will Brisbane be “dirty” after the game against Newcastle?

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Match Week 4

From what I heard, Perth were given an extended layoff because the entire squad had to complete their two weeks quarantine locked in their hotel rooms, unable to train, so the FA granted them more time to train to get up to speed.

Sydney and Melbourne on the other hand did their quarantine in NSW, where they were able to train. So the question must be asked, why didn’t Perth do their quarantine in NSW?

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Match Week 4

Adelaide’s R2 crowd of 10K is actually the highest of the season so far. I expect Perth to get a similar crowd considering their R4 game may be their only game at HBF Park for the next two months, potentially the season. Melbourne only got 8K in their R2 game, though that could be due to restrictions, i’m not sure.

Ten reasons to be optimistic about the A-League’s future

Hopefully Perth Glory win as this may be their only game in Perth for the entire season, or at the very least for the next two months. Hopefully the emotion of it being their sole game in Perth for the foreseeable future can get them over the line, but if the way Adelaide played is any indication, I think they’ll spoil our day. We couldn’t have had the Jets or Phoenix so that we get a free win?

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Match Week 4

Nah the Roar/Jets game to be postponed for a far more obvious reason: The FA realise that Newcastle is in NSW and that the Roar won’t be able to re-enter Queensland. Seriously? What happened to splitting the league in half?

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Match Week 4

Thank goodness Popovic left. Don’t think I could’ve bared another season with him ruining the Glory.

The A-League needs more coaches like Carl Robinson

Yeah I thought Adelaide would drop off this year due to the mass exodus of players but after seeing the way they played in the first two weeks I think they’re actually one of the strongest teams in the league. I’m actually so concerned for when Perth Glory have to face them in their season opener, cause I can just my club getting absolutely ripped to shreds. Hopefully, Perth’s emotion of playing potentially their only game in Perth for the year can drag them over the line, cause otherwise…

Anyway, I think Adelaide’s actually a scary outfit at the moment and will probably finish very high this year.

A-League 2020-21 season predictions

Yeah, I’m very concerned about Perth this year, wasn’t it only six months ago we were in a semi final? I doubt we are going to play another game in Perth this year the way things are going. With that going on, an out of form attack and a shoddy defence, I reckon Perth will finish close to a wooden spoon.

The only hope I have for Perth to do well is if the A-League decide to do what the AFL did last year and have teams fly to Perth, quarantine for two weeks and then play the WA side(s). In that case, Glory would have around 10 consecutive matches in Perth (the Eagles and Dockers had 7/8 straight games at Optus). Playing sides that are rusty from quarantine, Perth might get some momentum there. But thatd a big if.

A-League 2020-21 season predictions

Im surprised no one aside me has taken the fixture into consideration when deciding the ladder predictions. While Sydney are better, I predicted Melbourne City to finish top as they have three games against the Mariners, Jets and Roar. Sydney on the other hand only play those clubs twice, so thats a 9 point advantage for City.

A-League 2020-21 season predictions

Well Adelaide in the W-League is fine, because Adelaide have only played Canberra, who WA are open to. The two sides played in round one so neither are deemed dirty according to WA. Perth can therefore go to Adelaide and back without any issues, assuming Adelaide doesn’t record a local case in the next two days.

In the A-League however, Adelaide and Brisbane have been exposed to Victorian clubs in the fourteen days prior to their trip to WA, so Im not sure those games could go ahead.

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Match Week 3

Actually can someone explain to me as to whether the Perth games against Adelaide and Brisbane are going ahead. Nothing has been said yet about those games but neither the reds or roar would be allowed to come to Perth, as Melbourne City visited Adelaide on Sunday while Melbourne are due to play the Roar on Sunday. For those reasons, wouldn’t the reds and roar be deemed to have been in contact with Victorians in the past two weeks?

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Match Week 3

Personally, if I were head of leagues, I would’ve done Brisbane vs Wunited and Melbourne Victory vs Adelaide on this weekend.

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Match Week 3

WA – Not so much (well COVID were doing excellent, but in terms of Perth Glory, well, yeah nah, were no good)

Mark Bosnich: Expert or ego?

Ok looking at the way teams like Adelaide and Brisbane played, I’m very concerned about how Perth Glory would fare. Thought they’d sneak into the six because I thought they were better than those teams, but now I’m not so sure. I hope Perth do well, but I’m very apprehensive about them this year.

Is the A-League about to become what we've always wanted it to be?

After Round 1, I was very concerned that this was going to be a dull, boring a
A-League season, but this recent round has put those fears to bed. Four very entertaining games. Can’t wait to see Glory return to Perth.

Oh I do agree that GWS Giants should persist in Western Sydney, but I am a little bit concerned that a Canberra team might cause issues for the Giants. Hopefully, someday the AFL can field teams in both west sydney and canberra.

Capital idea for AFL expansion

Honestly the team that would most likely relocate to Canberra is GWS. The Giants crowds are shocking in west sydney and would honestly do better in Canberra.

Capital idea for AFL expansion

By the way, if the AFL is so concerned about diluting the talent pool, heres an idea: Cut list sizes from 44 to 40. At the moment, assuming each team uses all of its list slots, there would be a maximum of 792 AFL players (without Gold Coast concessions). If two teams were to be added and list sizes were to be cut to 40, there would be a maximum of 800 AFL players, an increase of just 8 players. So the best way to deal with expansion is to cut list sizes, and the remaining players then move to either Canberra or Tasmania.

Capital idea for AFL expansion

I do agree with Canberra getting an AFL team, especially when Tasmania joins. The only issue is that it might ruin GWS Giants. Their crowd numbers are horrendous in Sydney and quite honestly, the Giants are better off being based in Canberra. Don’t get me wrong, I would like to see western sydney work out, and Canberra get its own team.

Capital idea for AFL expansion

Hopefully its a Stars/Hurricanes GF. That way, its 100% certain for a team to win their maiden title.

Are we headed for an all-Sydney Big Bash final?

Whos the snakes? Western United?

The Roar's A-League expert tips and predictions: Match week 2

I reckon given that both teams are on NSW, it should go ahead. I reckon the competition will be split in half all the way until round twelve, before the NSW teams exit NSW and base themselves in Victoria.
