But the brands of Barcelona and real Madrid etc are only as strong as they are because they are able to buy the best players in the world.
This may sound a little condescending but it’s not meant to be, would the northern teams as a whole be as good as they are at the moment if it wasn’t for SH imports??Coaches and players.
The stronger the club teams are improves the international level and therefore the game as a whole.
I dont think anyone should be restricted as to where they are allowed to play.

How Australia’s rugby coaching ranks were obliterated

Some interesting ideas Andrew but ultimately I dont think you’re on the money.
Why would the rest of the rugby world want to totally rearrange their season just so that the wallabies can grow their strength again??
Also if it were to be a true province of origin tournament, surely only qld and nsw and possibly a.c.t would be able to field strong enough sides to compete. Victoria definitely wouldn’t have produced enough top class players to be competitive.
Not to mention that they would only be able to have one squad, then where would all the other players go?? Or that a large amount would be committed to New Zealand teams.
While I agree that player and coach drain to the more lucrative NH leagues is a serious problem, at the end of the day they are trying to make a living just like everyone else and should be able to do what’s best for them and their families in the long run.
Not every player can coach afterwards so they need to maximize their earning power while they’re able to.
Ultimately it is good for the game that the talent is being shared around.

How Australia’s rugby coaching ranks were obliterated

Absolutely agree. Shag is just looking after his players with two big fixtures ahead.

On another note I cant help thinking that he might be trying to lock in a lot of the young talent by capping them so there is less chance of a NH team snapping them up later to play through residency.
At the same time he’s introducing them to the AB environment early because we all know anything can happen at the RWC and they may be called up as injury cover.
Better that they are familiar with the processes now instead of walking into it with the added pressure of the world cup.

All Blacks and those 'confetti caps'

Great read harry. Got the butterflies going.
Been a while since that happened before a game.
Awesome to see the boks coming back to life. As good as it is winning all the time, its great to have solid rivalries again.
Let’s hope the game can live up to the hype and be a close one.

Will a rivalry resume, or the Wee Boklings revert?

I don’t think I’ve got the full grasp of the giteau rule here. How can Samu be eligible for the wallabies when he is playing for the crusaders??
Definitely doesn’t have the cap requirements (if any??), or is that all out the window because he has signed for next year with the brumbies??

What will Ireland bring to Australia in June?

I agree. It looks like he doesn’t follow through enough. Especially with his kicking out of hand. Gets a good wind up but then sort of just stabs at it.
Good punters always follow through much more.

Hanigan out for Tahs, Foley encouraged after crucial miss

I can’t comment on the crusaders knock on as I missed the first half but with TN it was pretty clear cut. Repeat infringements in very short order and an overlap to a very probable try when he knocks it on trying the intercept.
That’s the chance you take as the last defender. If he takes it it’s probably a try at the other end but he doesn’t and kills a scoring opportunity while already under advantage.
The tahs could just as easily list another to the bin after the repeat scrum collapses on the line that resulted in the PT.

Kiwi Ben O'Keeffe must have his rugby refereeing ticket shredded

Absolutely. They have bad days just like everyone else.
Let’s just remember when kiwi teams could t buy a win when Steve Walsh was reffing. Not much outrage coming out of aus then was there (and yes I know he was kiwi).

Kiwi Ben O'Keeffe must have his rugby refereeing ticket shredded

Did Craig Joubert have his ticket shredded after gifting the tahs the SR championship or getting the wallabies past Scotland in the WC??
I think not.
Unfortunately o’keefe missed the Moody incident but it’s a fast moving game and things are missed every week.
He’s been cited and will miss games.
It’s over, move on.

Kiwi Ben O'Keeffe must have his rugby refereeing ticket shredded

I bet Ireland can’t believe their luck.

Timani omitted entirely from Ireland Test as Cheika finalises bench

yeah i thought it was a little strange that they replayed the line out looking for the knock on so many times but then only checked for the grounding once maybe twice. i definitely couldn’t see the ball but that could have been because i had to stream it on my laptop so it was a much smaller screen.

The Wrap: Ireland finally have their day, Wales lose their way

well that hurts. well done to ireland, clearly the better team today. lots of silly stuff by us and some stupid decisions. already cant wait for the return fixture. hopefully the boys can get themselves up for that one.

Ireland vs All Blacks highlights: Ireland claim historic win in Chicago

really?? Hansen loses one game and he’s a clown. give it a rest

SP please dont presume that you know anything about me. I would 95% guarantee that i know more about the surfing culture in australia than you do as i have been part of it for over 20 years and used to work as a surf photographer.
while tyler wright may be the flavour of the month at the moment, did you even know she was in the title race 3 weeks ago and other than the quiksiver pro on the gold goast, bells and the drug aware pro at margarets, how many people do you know who have watched a WSL contest??
And if you are going to say that there are 2.5m surfers in australia you may as well bump up the rugby numbers to anyone who has ever played a game back in their hayday because that is what the surfing numbers are showing.
Identifying as a surfer and actually getting in the water regularly are two different things entirely.
I dont play rugby anymore but i still love it. i dont identify myself as a rugby player. I also have friends (melburnians) who watch rugby who have never played the game.
Most of those surfers you’re referring to might have a surf every other year but like the lifestyle and like to tell people they surf. It is by no means a realistic way to rank a sport above another.

Rogue Cheika tarnishes the Wallabies once again

sorry Antoni but surfing is not a major sport. Unless you live on the gold coast no average person could name 5 current aussie pros.
Rugby is way bigger and gets a lot more coverage and always has.

Rogue Cheika tarnishes the Wallabies once again

true. the pumas are on their way but need to judge when to offload better and preform it with much more skill. had the wallabies on the ropes so many times but shot themselves in the foot with terrible offloads when they should have just been recycling.

Springboks vs All Blacks highlights: All Blacks win 57-15

absolutely, ALB has been a bit of a revelation. so hard to put away and broke just about every first tackle tonight. and that offloading is something special.

Springboks vs All Blacks highlights: All Blacks win 57-15

So the wallabies secret game plan that can beat the all blacks if it works perfectly is to do whatever it takes to win?? Seriously??
I’m not sure you grasp the enormity of the task. No one wins at eden park. The last time they played there they got monstered and that was on the back of a rare win. You may prove me wrong but I think this wallaby team should be more focused on winning a test away from home before they start planning the impossible. The boks will be a whole different beast at home especially with loftus’ altitude. I think the pumas have shot themselves in the foot by taking their home game out of Argentina which I think they would have won but after a rest they will push the wallabies if they can conjure up some of the form theyes showed against the ABs.
This is very wishful thinking on your behalf.

The way forward for the Wallabies: Win at Eden Park

You mean the other camera angles that obviously show that it wasn’t an eye gouge??

SANZAAR right not to cite Franks: Hansen

What moore does is challenge every call the ref makes. Watch good captains, they pick and choose when to have a word. And don’t pester the ref for cards when they clearly aren’t warranted.
He just rubs them up the wrong way from the start. His while manner is confrontational and is not a good quality in a skipper.

Seven talking points from Bledisloe Cup Game 2

I just posted a comment above along the same lines. Until all the info comes out about this all we have is the losing coach making accusations. Nothing else. And some people on here take that as gospel.

Cheika blasts Poite, files rugby complaint

At the moment all we have is chiekas accusations. One side of the story.
I agree that if it’s all true Hansen will be in a bit of trouble (what happened with Eddie Jones when he did it recently). But until all the info comes out I’m not passing any judgements.

Cheika blasts Poite, files rugby complaint

Hes not implying, he’s saying in clear as day. Read it again

Cheika blasts Poite, files rugby complaint

Hot water. Seriously?? Theven way that was dealt with was a farce.
At the time he was already in trouble and on a 6 month good behavior stint. Any further transgressions should have seen him banned from coaching and he would have missed the RWC.
He pays the ref a visit at half time when he knows he shouldn’t (because he has already been fined for doing in the NH). When he gets found out he pleads ignorance.
He got less than a slap in the wrist.
I’m in no way saying Steve Hansen was fine taking a meeting with poite but the way Chieka is going on about it is a little bit ridiculous. I’m pretty sure that this law is only a recent change and that traditionally teams were both allowed to meet with the ref before game day without a representative from the other team present. Could be wrong though.

Cheika blasts Poite, files rugby complaint

That’s the only explanation I can think of

What’s got Steve Hansen's goat?
