I hope Murphy is ok, was worried about the consequences of that knock with his history. Health comes first, he’d be a huge loss. Glad he has a premiership under his belt.

'People out there that want you to shut up and play sport' but Magpies skipper voices support for Yes referendum vote

The Dees biggest mistake was orchestrating an entire club campaign of playing the victim card and trying to crucify and “demonise” Maynard, rather than focusing their energies on beating Carlton.

'Should have smoked them': May claims Dees 'so much better than Pies', says qualifying final loss 'f--king hurts'

Looks like the Dees had all duck but no dinner at their B&F.

Pies will let him go. Just playing some hard ball for a decent trade. He’s had two huge disappointments. Would be hard being on the periphery of all the celebrations when he knows he was so close to being front and centre to it all and deserved to be, and now chances moving forward will be limited. Fate can be cruel with injuries and timing, and footy at the elite level can be brutal. Injuries and age are catching up to him, hope Adams does well with new opportunities at the Swans and he can finish his career on a good note.

'Required player and leader': Pies' blunt response as vice-captain, GF heartbreak story requests trade

That comment re Cox Moore and DeGoey says a lot Peter. Poor Bucks, so close. He’s learnt a lot along the way. Vossy is a better coach now, Bucks looks ensconced in the media game now but he’d probably be much better at the gig this time around. Fly started his senior coaching at 49.

True! And I reckon they might just do a quick follow up with the Steele clutch bomb.

Amazing Dakes: Josh Daicos pips Nick for shock Collingwood best and fairest win, Maynard ties for second

Peter, sitting on the edge of the seat for the whole game (and 2 years!) made it so sweet.
I think Johnson will come in, hopefully after a solid summer on the weights. And obviously McStay. Macrae is bound to get more senior footy and will be interesting to see what happens with Taylor Adams. Reef McInnes is starting to look solid but don’t know who he pushes out just atm. Hope Noble can become a regular again. Ryan looks like he will develop well. He may gradually replace Howie. How do you rate Allan? Murphy will be back in the starting 18. Interesting to see how Jack Ginnivan kicks on from here.

Reckon I would have felt a lot happier if Billy Frampton clunked a few on the day Frodo.

Loving it mate, these past 2 years have been out of this world. No doubt you’re deeply immersed in the joy and achievement of it all.
That sounds like a good call, with the view to 2025, and will interesting to see what calls they make this year. This whole team can go around again for another shot at it, and a few handy players to come in from injury and the 2s. I was a bit worried about our old fellas in the GF. I felt they’d either win it for us or father time may suddenly come knocking as it can do on GF day. Most of them look like they have at least another good year or 2 in them. No end in sight for Pendles.

Right up there with BOG on grand final day Peter, even though Bobby Hill deserved the Norm. Two great pick ups, along with the other 3 over last summer. What’s your inside info for this summer?

Hope Adams stays and fights his way in for the crack at back to back. He would be devastated missing out on the flag. Played a great game in the 18 Grand Final. He’s losing a yard and can turn it over but gives great grunt and he would have been in the 22 last week if fit.

A great result for Josh and the club. The placegetters reflecting the season pretty accurately and also demonstrating the team ethos approach. JDG, Sidey, Howie, Nick D, and a few others all missing a bit of footy. Daicos boys always acknowledge mum and dad and all their supports. Jack Crisp what a finals series – again.

We’ll never know. He also played some good footy under Bucks. The gap between his best and worst is starting to shrink. He was pivotal in Pies finals and premiership success, hopefully a few years left, and fits well into the salary cap.

'USA! USA! USA!': The premiership-winning journey of Mason Cox is doing more than just charming the Americans

Mason Cox has been great value for Collingwood. Amazing what he has achieved.
Like your example how he knew to run back, with timing and place, and plug the hole from the Big O’s kick.
Did you notice as soon as he went out of the ruck in the first quarter Brisbane got their momentum going. Cameron took a while to find his feet but he ended up playing a good competitive game too.

The naysayers excel in saying nay, but that’s about it.

Grand Final Fix: How Fly's Pies beat the Lions at their own game for a 16th - and greatest - flag

Great team effort just to hang in there but I think it’s the sheer inspirational brilliance and the refusal to die of Cleary who gets you in the end. Broncos got on such a roll they looked superb and unstoppable but maybe exhuberant inexperience suddenly found them then struggling in the momentum swing.

ANALYSIS: No matter what you do, Penrith will get you eventually - just ask the Broncos

Watching the NRL grand final. Half time, tight game. Always enjoy the game but there is nothing in this experience
that suggests the AFL should consider changing the Saturday afternoon timeslot for the Grand Final.

I think Muckatah seconds have won about 49 flags.

Grand Final Fix: How Fly's Pies beat the Lions at their own game for a 16th - and greatest - flag

Frampton got himself in good position numerous times but couldn’t clunk anything. Hadn’t played any footy for a month, let alone finals or senior footy. He did his role for most of the game keeping a potential match winner out of the contest for 3/4, and he gave Pies balance they otherwise wouldn’t have had with big men around the ground. He’s not Wayne Carey but he earned a premiership medal.
Jack Ginnivan did a few handy things but probably the luckiest bloke to receive the medal and blew 2 precious golden opportunities for goal. Noble extremely unlucky not to get a guernsey.
McCreery was interesting, if a couple of bounces/deliveries of balls had gone his way he would have had a blinder. As it was a solid grand final performance.

Collingwood Grand Final player ratings: 'Hill's Hoist' claims Norm, but one Pie was 'genuinely poor'

Daniher played a very good game, missed one but so did plenty of others, mostly Pies. Hipwood looked lost, I thought he might have fired up yesterday on the big open spaces of the G in tandem with Daniher, especially once Murphy was off.

COMMENT: THAT advantage call wasn't a shocker - the rule is just completely broken, and the fix is simple

Lions were stiff with that call and something needs to be done about the rule. They did alright on the free kick count though 22:16, and scored a goal off Markov’s soft 50 metre penalty. One of the great grand finals and Brisbane could have won it but as a totally biased Pies supporter the best team got the cup.
The out of bounds looked a definite out of bounds but also similar to one and no where near as blatant as the second one Collingwood copped against Geelong recently at the G, so hopefully that helps to stabilise any conspiracy theorists who may be wanting to whip themselves into a frenzy.

Thanks Chanon 👍

Savour it Peter!!! It’s magic mate. Thanks for all those valuable low-downs on ground level at the training track and at the games.
Go the Pies!!!!!

Nice work Tim, enjoy your depth analysis and also the use of relevant stats.
Comisserations Lions, they played a great game of footy but Collingwood you bluddy beauty!!!! 🏉 🥊 👍 😁

In terms of pure excitement and build up its hard to go past clubs breaking the ice in a long time….Lions, Swans, Cats, Dogs, Tiges, Dees, and also Port for the first time. Probably the Dogs steal that one in terms of being everyones second team. It was a good granny too but the prelim against the Giants was a better match and a classic final.
Now that the sentimental gush is out of the way, my top 10 2000 grannys have been, in order…
Port v Lions
Lions v Pies 2002
Lions v Dons
Eagles v Pies
Cats v Saints
Hawks v Cats
Swans v Hawks 2012
Pies v Saints draw
Dogs v Swans
Tiges v Cats
.
Even though Swans and Eagles were both close affairs I didn’t rate them highly as GFs. Think Roosy’s flooding may have heavily impacted footy in those years.
.
Best one of course though, which was just “good for footy” was Pies v Saints replay
