I’m not sure about the “too bad”. Clubs like Canberra and Newcastle are important to the RL landscape. I agree these clubs have themselves to blame, however, as it stands, they need assistance in how to run a business.

Inglis signing brings bling back to Brisbane

Mitch, agreed. Hayne is working off a great platform built by his forwards. Whichever forward pack gets on top will allow either Hayne or Carney to fire.

Roosters have to be wary of Saturday night fever

I just found the Roussouw incident so petty and childish. Typical really. I thought the two Botha incidents contrasted better which is why I didn’t mention the Roussouw… whatever it was.

Sin bin needs time out in both league and union

TAB have posted odds for Wayne Bennett to take over the Blues job. They are long, however, this indicates state of birth is not an issue for coaches.

Craig Bellamy, your career starts now

Exactly my point Tom. The next couple of years will be decisive for Bellamy. It will be interesting to watch his progress.

Craig Bellamy, your career starts now

Fellas, Elliot as a coach not a player. Fairly certain there are no rules which stipulate against him coaching NSW, maybe just because you have never seen it. Remember, Wayne Bennett coached New Zealand after all.

Craig Bellamy, your career starts now

Great ride by Cadel, but unfortunately his now high place on GC could be a negative. Cadel could find himself in the yellow jersey too soon, which will force his team to defend. I don’t think BMC are strong enough to defend a yellow jersey for anything longer than a couple of days. It’s great he has a time gap on Contador, however, what would be perfect for Cadel is for a large breakaway to gain a considerable amount of time on a stage, and for a team like AG2R to hold it for several days with the intention of only holding on for publicity e.g. Rinaldo Noccentini ’09. For me, Contador is right where he needs him. Like I said, Cadel must stay patient and hope for some good fortune. Fingers crossed

Can Lance Armstrong make it eight in France?

The Schlecks will have good support over the cobbles and have some experience riding them. When I say “some”, I mean more than most of the GC contenders. They’re certainly not gone, the cobbles could be disastrous for anyone.

Can Lance Armstrong make it eight in France?

He didn’t lose any time, provided he’s not injured he’s still excuse-less.

Can Lance Armstrong make it eight in France?

I really only have major issues with Barrett and Scott, those two selections perplex me. The rest certainly make a good claim, I’m not overly educated on Jason King, perhaps he’ll step up to the mark like Shillington.

The NSW backline is one for the future

Having Brett and Josh together would be great for the future. I think Josh’s form slump is only a result of the Bulldogs poor form. Let’s not forget, they played terrific alongside each other in England last year. Had Gasnier not decided to return to the Dragons I think Josh would have returned, that would have been great to see.

The NSW backline is one for the future

Pick it on form, I don’t think Josh is playing better than Jennings or Lawrence. I would certainly have him in there over Scott however.

The NSW backline is one for the future

Gilbank, that’s a fair point. Coote or Dugan would be great to see, this final game should prove exciting just in anticipation of how players like Gidley and Hayne perform. The axe will most certainly begin to fall if they fail.

The NSW backline is one for the future

Morris is a must, dropping him would achieve nothing. Gidley to hooker, Ennis on the bench, this frees up Hayne at fullback and bring in another winger. In this case you could bring in Merritt. Gordon? not sure he’s ready.

The NSW backline is one for the future

With no Soward you need a goal kicker.

The NSW backline is one for the future

Hmmm, not convinced on Bertos. He had plenty of touches mainly because they targeted his flank.

All Whites are still Socceroos' little brother

I wonder how this would effect rugby in New Zealand? I suppose most people haven’t really had much of an alternative in recent years with the Phoenix probably being the countries youngest professional team, people are still adjusting to football. Would be great to see them get a team in the south, and maybe one in Auckland. It would give league a run for its money I reckon.

All Whites are still Socceroos' little brother

When its cheap, and when the person gets suspended for four weeks. There are a lot of solid hits, however, this case is unique.

What was Timana Tahu thinking?

They both have huge ego’s, that’s to be expected. There’s something so unusual about this whole Tahu situation, after all, people are only speculating what Johns said, right? As far as I’m aware nothing has been said on record other than a racist remark. I don’t think this will be the last facet of this saga.

What was Timana Tahu thinking?

Mushi, do you think Tahu would have been better off dealing with it at Origin camp?

What was Timana Tahu thinking?

I spose Ben Cross getting shoulder charged while taking a hit up is also “wrong place at wrong time”. He was intent on making a point, its a shame, I think Timana had the opportunity to come out of all this looking pretty good, not anymore.

What was Timana Tahu thinking?

Monday night, small crowd, raining, lower placed teams. This mixture hardly ignites the same passion and emotion as origin.

What was Timana Tahu thinking?

Tahu’s actions speak for themselves, If he’s going to act like this then he must expect people will write about it. We applauded him leaving Origin, but his unsportsmanlike conduct against the Knights is far from acceptable.

What was Timana Tahu thinking?

Mona, it may never die. What’s the most disturbing thing is that this behaviour could well continue along with its survival. I am a passionate fan, and would hate to see this happen.

Rugby league is becoming the self-imploding sport

Rob C, you’ve challenged my point well. However, the key word is “traditionally”. And yes, there is plenty more evidence to prove that “traditionally” RL has been played more commonly by those in lower socio-economic areas.

You are right. RL is played in areas such as Manly, Nth Sydney, Brisbane etc. However, your argument does not correspond to the key word “traditionally”. To be perfectly honest, no one knows if RL will survive. The players that play the game certainly aren’t doing it any favours. I am a very passionate fan, however, I am also a very concerned fan. To assert for evidence too often would be foolish, common sense must take precedent in assessing some situations which occur in the NRL. Evidence is also a good indicator, although, just as I alluded to in the article, remains just that – an indicator.
