In his three years Baker has had four head coaches and four offensive coordinators. Add that to the fact that the Browns have been basket cases for years now it becomes a tough gig. In my opinion if Mahomes or Lamar had been drafted by the Browns they would never have reached the heights they have with their actual teams. Given that the coaching and front office now look really competent this year, I believe that Baker will have a good year. Will they make the playoffs? The division is tough and the other conferences have at least two good teams so it is looking pretty difficult.
All or nothing for Baker Mayfield in 2020
In his second game Burrow looked very accomplished. I think he completed 4 or 5 of their 4th down attempts which shows that he can cope in the big moments. Four damn good quarterbacks in the AFC North… three of them 25 or under… going to be a tough fight for years to come.
Bengals and Browns open NFL Week 2 in points frenzy
After one game pretty thankless task to put up some rankings.. but thanks anyway. KC and the Ratbirds definitely out in front of the pack. Mahomes is amazing but the Ravens are exceptional all over the park. Excellent defence, one of the best kickers ever and Lamar’s running make the team a complete package. An understated fact is that Jackson’s rushing ability enables them to go for it on 4th and short yardage more often thus continuing their drives… a huge advantage.
The only question mark is whether they can come from behind and win…perhaps they will be so good that we‘ll never find out. As if it wasn’t hard enough being a Browns fan….
NFL Power Rankings: Week 1
I didn’t have a favourite team for a long time until I saw a news report about some fans “celebrating “ their team going through 2017 losing every game and this after winning a solitary game in 2016. I really thought that those fans had a lot of humour ( as well as patience and endurance) and so I started following the Cleveland Browns. It is a team with loads of winning tradition in the 50s and 60s, that subsequently got turned into the Baltimore Ravens(lol). Since coming back in 99 they have been pretty rotten but they have some superstars ( Myles Garrett, Odell Beckham, Karen Hunt) and team culture is looking good. First game up on Sunday v Baltimore Ravens and the truly mercurial Lamar Jackson.
Btw total respect for those going to kneel during the anthem. They are taking their platform and trying to improve their country.
450 million reasons for NRL fans to watch the NFL
Good move to get Marsh in to the team…. just that should have happened 6 weeks ago to replace Stoinis in the World Cup!
Dropping Head for Marsh was a mistake
Agree that the umpiring has been woeful. It doesn’t help our chances when Paine has reviewed NINE times and not been successful once. At the same time he missed reviewing off Burns and Stokes against Lyon which cost us 102 and 109 runs respectively and perhaps would have made Joel Wilson more likely to fire Stokes out at Leeds. Paine has got to get his reviews right!
The Ashes: England vs Australia, fourth Test preview, prediction
Yes Ronan, Paine might have trouble posting even a moderate score against Archer. I can live with that as long as he gets the reviews right! It didn’t cost us at Boobaston but it may well have cost us a win at Lords.
Regarding Stokes; he really is a brilliant all rounder. He can bowl at 90mph, has a powerful hook and uppercut and he can bat, too.
Archer can exploit Paine's short-ball issues
Good to read some alternative ideas, Pierro. Regarding the pitch NOT being a green monster, I think there are two notable factors. Firstly the 4th and 5th days fall on a Saturday and Sunday. So I imagine that the ECB would very much like to see Lords full on those days rather than the match over in three days. Secondly, baby face Root spat the dummy over the seaming pitch against Ireland. Now the curator there is new so he probably felt the pressure to listen to Rooty’s whining and give him what he wanted.. or at least what he wanted 10 days ago.
Why the Aussie selectors should drop Nathan Lyon and pick four quicks at Lord's
Plays by intuition.
While the wickets around him fall.
Five Ashes spots up for grabs tomorrow
I hope this uncertainty is just a ruse to upset the planning of the poms. We ( the fans) have no idea what our batting from 3 to 6 will be so neither will the English. They will have to prepare for every batsman in the squad… lol.Hopefully a smart tactical ploy from JL and Punter.
Dropping Glenn Maxwell against England would be a huge mistake
Langer will not want numbers 2, 3,4,5 and 6 to be all right handers. So irrespective of how many runs or against whom they were scored, Wade will replace UK and if Stoinis can’t recover, Marsh will play. Strangely enough the team will be stronger. If we win, prepare to make hectolitres of vinegar out of England’s sour grapes.
