“I am presuming the Force will ultimately be axed. I would argue that this blow can be slightly softened by joining the Force and Rebels franchises together, a link that would allow several Super Rugby matches to be played each year in Perth, against South African and New Zealand teams.
The point here is that somehow the growing interest in rugby in Perth has to be encouraged.”
After reading these paragraphs Spiro, it is obvious you have not been following what’s happening over here in the West. If you took some time to do some research you would have seen that the majority of the Force fans have already said that they will not support some half-a$$ed attempt to amalgamate the force with any other team.
In fact, most blogs I have read have the majority of Force fans saying that they will even stop supporting the Wallabies if we lose the force. That is the level of ill-feeling towards the ARU.
If the Force are wound up, that is the end of rugby in the West – dont even bother trying to generate interest for a Wallabies match in the west as it will definitely end up being an “away” fixture for Australia.
Also, if the Force are cut, we need to stop talking about the ARU as they are clearly NOT concerned about rugby in Australia – I vote for a new name – ECARU – East Coast of Australia Rugby Union.
Rant over
It's crisis time for the worst-ever Waratahs and their overpaid stars
Only the $10 Nick, and I’m going to be lucky to collect now !!!!!
Need a good win against Wales and hope for other results.
Why Scotland’s Lions will roar in New Zealand
No problem Nick – thanks for bringing the subject up.
I dont think many people could say that Hogg shouldn’t be the FB in the Lions team, but the worry is, is that Gatland has proved to be very pro-Welsh in his previous selections so I feel Hogg will miss out to 1/2penny.
On the 6N, if Scotland can beat France this weekend (I know, big if), then I may even win my bet,
15/1 for Scotland to come 2nd
Why Scotland’s Lions will roar in New Zealand
Jeff and Michael,
you surely have not followed Scotland for the past couple of years.
If you had, then you would have realised that this win over Ireland was no fluke.
Scotland were VERY competitive in the last 6N, and HAVE shown consistency for the last 18 months or so.
Within one try of both England and Wales.
Lost by 10 points to Ireland
Beat France and Italy.
Also very close to beating Australia in the (northern) Autumn internationals.
So, this is the culmination of good coaching and some good young players coming of age.
Why Scotland’s Lions will roar in New Zealand
sorry mate.
I wont be giving anymore money to the ARU.
I have been a member of the Western Force from the start and as everyone agrees, the way the ARU have handled the reduction in teams has been nothing but a disgrace.
whether people agree with the decision or not, it was obvious, in the ARUs eyes, the Force were the team to be culled.
I feel completely let down by the ARU and wont support them again
Why on earth would Cheika select Hooper as Wallaby captain?
