So Benji's gone – what does this mean for rugby league moving forward? On September 8 this year Benji will officially hang up his…

The Storm salary cap saga aside, the 2010 NRL season will largely be remembered as the year the Dragons finally shook off their "choker"…
Thought I should clarify something – the main point I was trying to make with regards to Benji is that a guy like him who’s been around 10 years or so can become a bit obsolete very quickly with all these young guys coming through under the new training and dieting regimes. I went off on a bit of a tangent though making it sound like there’s no place for the small guys, which isn’t quite true – my point was that there will be less smaller guys in future and even the small guys will be big compared to what we would have called a “small” guy say 10 years ago. And also that a player’s longevity in the game will be affected by how fast the game and sports science in general is evolving…I was identifying a trend, not a black and white rule.

Agree, to an extent. The impact of the small men is still diminishing though, as a general trend, not a stead-fast rule like some people seem to have interpreted my article

Tariq Sims (younger bro of Ashton) could be a huge signing for the Cowboys. He’s been named in Sticky Ricky’s extended NSW squad so there are pretty big wraps on him and he had a strong game in their trial last weekend. Not convinced that this year will be any different to the last couple as far as the Cowboys premiership chances are concerned.
NRL 2011 Preview: North Queensland Cowboys
Thanks for the positive feedback. Agree Knights are a good chance this season too and they looked very strong at times last year – especially that Round 24 game vs the Broncos where Vuna, Uate and Mad Dog were scoring miracle tries all over the place! Their pack looks to be very strong and they’ll be a contender for sure. Pumped for the season too and can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. Bring on Round 1!!
