In fairness every nation in the world are trying to develop strikers and attacking midfielders who can score goals.

The thing that often gets in the way is those nations who have successfully developed defenders and defensive midfielders who can stop goals.

Our fling with Bert came and went as advertised, and now we move on

I sent my mate who is Scottish the Craig Foster clip. His reply below pretty much sums it up for me.

“Seriously! that man! He needs to realise that it is a massive achievement to qualify for the World Cup. He should talk to someone from Italy, Holland , chile, China, Scotland! In a group with France it was always going to be hard to get out of group and I thought they played very well in games and highlights I saw. He should have some pride in a bunch of lads trying their best rather than daydreaming of winning the whole tournament. He says ‘one day winning something in this game’ has he forgotten that Australia are Asian champions!

Hi everyone.

Sorry I have been a bit distant of late.

Can someone explain how I get Optus T.V?

Can I purchase it just for the World Cup?

Is it just a case of creating an account and installing an App.

I have been looking online and can’t quite get my head around it all.

Best players, top teams and unmissable matches: Your complete guide to Russia

The level of angst towards the national team is astonishing. We are on the brink of qualifying for the World Cup – something that has only been achieved four times in our nations history. Something that big nations such as the Netherlands have failed to do.

We fell only one point from qualifying directly – in a group that included perhaps the two most successfull nations in Asian football history.

We recently had our greatest moment ever in – winning the Asian Cup.

The Socceroos and the people leading the team are doing a pretty good job if you ask me. If Ange can pull this off against Honduras, he deserves to go down as our greatest ever manager, certainly in the A-League era, if you consider his achievements at club and country level.

Ange Postecoglou to quit Socceroos in November

I am at the ground tonight. First time I have been to Stadium Australia since a certain qualifier in November 2005.

A star midfielder, unlucky not to be playing came on for an injured defender on that day as well.

I am feeling good about this.

Socceroos vs Syria: World Cup Qualifier highlights, live scores, blog

Call me old-fashioned but a 1-1 draw in the away leg of a two-legged play-off used to be seen as a good result. When did this change?

Australia's world cup hopes head to Sydney after late Syria equaliser

It takes a bit to coax me out of retirement but I just want to say how much I love the Socceroos.

In the mid-90s they were the reason I got into the game when I went to a multicultural school and developed a love for the sport. Everyone was trying to get me to pick an English premier league team to support but the only team I cared about was the Socceroos (prior to the glory entering the NSL)

Luckily I only had to sit through a couple of failed world cup bids but they taught me two things
1) missing a world up is painfull
2) making a world cup is an achievement not an expectation.

I have enjoyed watching this campaign. It has been trough and hard with good and bad moments. Overall I think we have done okay. We have only lost one game, finished one point from topping the group and goal difference from automatic qualification. If only one of those draws had of been wins or a few more goals dropped last night.

In the past couple of campaigns I feel like the little things have gone our way, luck was on our side, this time not so much. That’s fine, we are about to embark on some old-fashioned two legged playoffs, nothing new for the green and gold.

I don’t mind the criticism of our performance but comments like “we don’t deserve to be there” are nonsense. These two legged playoffs are going to be great. Equal parts exciting and nerve racking. If we get through, the team and the coach deserve the utmost praise for achieving something that has only been done four times in the history of the sport in this country (and doing it with a squad made up of plenty of young and emerging players).

Go boys!

Australia beat Thailand, but still no closer to World Cup qualification

Hi all,

I left after a string of death threats for my continual use of the phrase “A-League minor premiership”

Also, I was just wasting too much time on here. I usually check the website once every few months to check out the latest news, see how the code wars are going and check what username Fussball is currently using.

Where have all The Roar's old readers gone?

I missed our innings but watching the dismissals at tea, very few of the balls were on the stumps. A couple of great balls but a heap of terrible shots.

No worries Fuss.

You are probably right mate. Less time on football forums and more on work 🙂

Thanks Punter, Jamesb, Bondy and thanks Mid, Appreciate the comments

Stability and expansion can co-exist for A-League

Thanks Mid

Unfortunately our organisation got into a bit of financial strife and I have lost my job. I am on the look out for my next opportunity.

As Franko mentioned, hopefully it will be somewhere that will accommodate the odd Roar post.

Stability and expansion can co-exist for A-League

G, day all. Today is my last day working at my current workplace. I was going through my old documents and found an word document from 2012 titled “response to Fussball” . It. Looks like I never ended finishing it and I assume I never posted it. Enjoy

“That’s right Fussball. you got me! All these years of supporting the NSL, supporting the A-League, traveling overseas to see the Socceroos, buying season memberships, holding volunteer positions at grassroots level, establishing an social football club in the Northern suburbs of Perth, holding meetings with football west, gaining accreditation as a football referee and advocating for a blank piece of park to be converted into a soccer pitch was all a ruse. Fuss you a “

What about the Western Reds?

What’s an English football team that had a couple of years in the top flight, never to be heard from again?

Who does your NRL team compare with in the EPL?

Had a great time last night. Pre game show was amazing, followed up by a great game of footy.

At first I disagreed with the non-try to G.I but then I remembered that I don’t actually know the rules.,

I thought Jennings was the best player

As long as we turnip to play we will be fine.

haha, yeah I do that as well. If a game is close or its a crunch moment.

That last day of the Masters when Adam Scott won. I was out of my seat every time he had a putt.

Time to take a stand at AAMI Park

Perhaps something to think about in the future, however at this stage it is unnecessary to increase capacity.

Sounds like you are calling for a redistribution of wealth. Taking away from those who bring in the money (the players) and handing it out to those who need it most. (grassroots organisations).

In fairness to the yanks.

Imagine we beat them 3-1 and their official website had an article about how rubbish a team we are.
