I got chatting with a former NZ Rugby & Athletics international, turned award winning journalist and documentary maker, at my local last week.

The guy was seriously savvy & appeared to know his rugby, but had jumped ship to become a Wallabys supporter. I asked him why he had become a traitor and he opened up on one of the most remarkable career and life experiences.

Born Leonard J Lee around 1950, he was described as true sports royalty and sat as a resrve for the All Blacks without making an appearance for 37 consecutive games before being dropped for life.

Although clocking 10.0 seconds for the last 100 yards of a mile in which John Walker lapped him, he was never chosen to represent the Kiwis at the Olympic games.

Upon arriving in Australia as a political refugee, and instantly becoming a much loathed writer, Lee found difficulties as he refused to pay tax or have his rabbies shots.

After brief imaginary relationships with Jana Wendt and Barry Otto, he was married and divirced six times, fathering 9 children, two greyhounds and Blinky Bill. The later sporned the Australian Greens Party and made Lee a legendary environmental warrior.

Turning his talents to grandiose feature film stories, indeciferable Rugby reports and the writing of the worst novel in the history of the English language.

It is with a heavy heart and much sadness that I report that Mr Leonard Lee, accredited writer, sporting dwarf, feature film director and humanitarian documentary producer, is unfortunately very much alive and lying.

Why the answers for Australian rugby are blowin’ in the wind
