My money is on Larkham to be coach and not just because I think he is the best option. He basically is the only option if it’s to be an Aussie coach. I think an Aussie coach is required especially at this time. Any other option isn’t realistic, affordable, available or Australian. It’s not even a discussion. In any case, it will be sometime before a coach is selected. RA is in scramble mode right now. I’m not concerned if decision isn’t made until April next year. I’d rather RA focussed on centralisation and fixing the issues that require immediate attention. It is my view that a panel of former Wallabies coaches, super rugby coaches, former players and current super rugby captains should be selecting the next Wallabies coach. That is the conversation that we should be having instead right now instead who will be the next coach.

'Love to be involved': Larkham reacts to links to Wallabies return as Eddie replacement

The choices are few if it’s to be an Aussie. McKellar has ruled himself out as has Raiwalui. Cheika has still to find out his fate in Argentina and isn’t my first pick if he is available unless selectors are choosing his teams for him. Larkham is probably the best pick as an Aussie. RA can’t afford to attract a big name foreign coach. Larkham is the realistic choice. It’s clear to me he makes the hard decisions and came back from the northern hemisphere with new ideas and that bore out in how the brumbies played differently this year. Australian super rugby sides barely compete against NZ sides. You can’t use championships as a measure of a coach that is coaching in Australia at super rugby level as a determining factor. The Wallabies need some stability, a home grown coach and a level head.

I agree. We need someone invested in Australian rugby long term. Someone who wants to look to the future of the game in Australia once their contract is up. The director director of high performance should be an Aussie who has succeeded in the northern hemisphere and should have as much power to control things as he has experience to make the changes required. Now is the time to radically change how things are done at RA and in the rugby community. Need to revitalise the game by using the spirit of the rugby community.

He has.

Going broke leads you to do whatever it takes.

'Bold step': NSW Rugby confirms RA alignment in bid to rid game of 'conflicts and self interest'

RA doesn’t have the money to compete with the NRL so he might leave. He’ll do well in the NRL. I’d rather he stay in Union though.

You got some catchy liberal hive mind buzz words there. Maybe Eddie just wanted to change the culture.

Eddie's painful reminder of what might have been at World Cup as big name Wallabies star despite Baabaas defeat

I like how Kiss speaks about what he wants the Reds to be under his coaching. It’s exciting. Let’s give him some time to implement that.

Les kiss is certainly a good option. Let’s see how he does with the Reds first within the Australian system.

Exclusive: Path clear for McKellar to return as Wallabies coach despite Leicester job, Cheika's update on future

Obviously financials are important. Selections of coaches, development, where the money is spent are not executive decisions but should be done by rugby experts.

I’d argue that the reason why Australia is in the situation it is in because rugby is run like a business.

A new coach should selected by a group of former coaches, former players current coaches, not by Hamish. The rugby community needs to take back power from a system and group of men that have been the cause of the decline in Australian Rugby.

I agree but you could also suggest Simon Riawalui.

Yeah good point.

Two words. Hell no.

Give the Job to Bernie. He’s capable, smart, an Aussie, has enough overseas experience, coached in Ireland where the centralised system has been a success, Bernie doesn’t have outbursts, he’s respectful and humble with the media. He is clear and concise. He is adaptable and produces teams that are adaptable. He seems to me to be the influence we need at the Wallabies. No nonsense and hard working former hero. Someone the players can look up to, get behind, learn from and Bernie is able to learn from his mistakes. Just look at how he handle Noah Lolesio once he realised the belief in him wasn’t paying off. He didn’t hold onto a favouritism, he adapted and looked elsewhere. I doubt RA are in any rush to select a new coach and announce it. They’ll wait for the dust to settle on Jones’ debacle first.

Whatever you think of Eddie and the failure at the World Cup, these young guys now have experience at the tournament. Any suggestion he has ruined them is incorrect as if they’re good enough then they will come back strong. Eddie in his own words “ Sometimes you have to eat a s—t for others to eat caviar further down the track.” Good luck to him and I hope we eat caviar further down the track as a result. I hope the next coach is an Aussie and RA make big changes to how rugby is structured and developed in Australia. Now is the time to make those changes

Eddie Jones quits as Wallabies coach - 'Sometimes you have to eat s--t for others to eat caviar'

Chieka is the new wallabies coach. Eddie is waiting until Argentina go home from the WC to make the announcement.

'I’ve taken a different persona': The changing face of Cheika - and why Los Pumas needed him to 'evolve'

I agree about McKellar and Larkham however cheika is an option in my view. He has matured from the interviews of his I’ve seen recently. His rugby coaching nous has evolved and he is more than a one trick pony (run it at all costs from everywhere). Andy friend. Yes please?

I think you mean pawn. Just saying.

As long as he has someone like Laurie fisher around and a really good attack coach. He’d go ok.

No thanks. Just no.

Perhaps someone under him could be continuation.

Why aren’t our wallabies and super rugby coaches being selected by a group of older coaches? Why aren’t our wallabies teams selected by selectors? Why aren’t decisions being made by people in the know? I feel like the AU is being run as a business instead of a sport by those with the expertise in the game. Some hard decisions need to be made to change Aussie rugby. Only those within the rugby community can do that.
