Yeah Stokes definitely was not running in 100 percent but credit to him to stepping up when his team needed him. With the series squeezed in just over a month these banged bodies will struggle. That’s where the Aussies might have the edge.

Ashes 2nd Test burning questions: Selection dramas, runs at what cost?

Root certainly bowled well economically and held down one end nicely possibly could be the main spinner. Bairstow opening would make sense, but Duckett deserves another test.

It’s a fair point Tom, but l doubt those guys would be happy if they were put in the reserves.

There's life in old Tigers yet - why Richmond would be mad to move Cotchin and Riewoldt on now

Impressed with Todd Marshall, l thought he had a great night. Enjoyed him going up the ground and his ability to kick the ball well to the advantage of his fellow forwards. Might not get a lot of ball, but when he does he’s effective.

Footy Fix: 14 minutes, 29 seconds, six goals - how 2023's most brutal burst saw Port obliterate the Cats

Fair enough, l feel like Bancroft was left out prematurely after the sandpaper series. I think Harris has had plenty of chances including after the sandpaper series, back end of 2019 Ashes and start of 2021 Ashes. Unfortunately he hasn’t found the ability to get big scores at test level.

Ashes talking points: England's bowling line-up, out-of-form openers

Love how Port have recruited elite ball users throughout their squad, such as McKenzie, Burton, Farrell, Bonner and Houston. This explains their good ball movement and efficiency going inside 50.

Swans have been incredibly unlucky without the McCartin brothers in defence. It’s not the number of outs that are hurting the swans depth it’s the key position outs as well.

Footy Fix: Their season is all but cooked - but gutsy, fierce Swans still have the brightest of futures ahead

Not sure how England are going to win without a genuine spinner. Moeen Ali has not played test since 2021, barely bowling in the IPL. If they want to make flat pitches then good luck against Nathan Lyon.

Root ton, reverse-ramps, first-ball mayhem and shock declaration - Aussies endure peak Bazball on thrilling opening day

Good question, l think culture is the most important to any sporting team, but at the same time you need the cattle as well. Culture over talent any day though that wins you titles.

Why does Western Australia dominate cricket?

Once Warner, Khawaja, Smith and starc eventually retire from test cricket it will be jhye richardson, Morris, Wyllie and Hardie to lead to Australia’s next wave you would think though.

Why does Western Australia dominate cricket?

Good squad. I reckon Travis Head had to be in the XI he has been a revolution in the number position and is the form of his life.

Making a best XI of WTC 2021-23

Australia has great depth in the fast bowling department and always have. Cameron Green has only just scraped the surface on what he can do and hopefully Jhye Richardson can keep his body right. I also like Aaron Hardie who is a great all-rounder for WA. Micheal Neser has to be one of the unluckiest bowlers to get a regular game, he would get in any other international team.

Generation next: Australia 'A' squad gives insight into the next generation of Test pacers

The core of the Carlton team is impressive however their 18-22 seems to always be the problem. Patrick Cripps’ back is broken from carrying the team for so long.

Blue Bagger nightmare: If not this year, when will Carlton's top-eight drought finally end?

Yeah, the Blues are a huge club, and l feel the administration does too much talking giving a lot of external pressure for the team.

Blue Bagger nightmare: If not this year, when will Carlton's top-eight drought finally end?

That’s fair enough, but l could imagine the media questioning these players who start underperforming.

Should there be a mid-season trade period in the AFL?

Well l mean that’s one of the potential problems as poor list management decisions in the mid-season trade period could lead to clubs falling behind. So there are many upsides and downsides to it.

Should there be a mid-season trade period in the AFL?

So sad to see Jofra suffer the same injury again such a shame for cricket. Its hard to see England have a chance with no Jofra, 40 Jimmy Anderson with a groin niggle just before the series. Australia seem way to classy for England should be a comfortable 5-0 win.

England announce Test squad but Ashes chances cop huge blow with star speedster ruled out

I think you have back David Warner in for the first test, l think he’s earned that right. If he continues to struggle with the right-armer around the wicket then Cameron Bancroft should be the man for the job who dominated domestic cricket in all formats last season.

Selection conundrum looms as Australia prepares for Ashes

I would pick a key forward such as Max king, only 22 and will be a force to be reckoned with. Midfielders are too easy to find, and it is much more difficult to find a key forward for the next decade. Ideally a player with great character and leadership would be fantastic for Tasmania.

Who would Tasmania pick first overall if every player was up for grabs?

A lot of talk from England considering that got pumped last ashes. Hopefully we get see Jofra Archer back but l don’t think he’s body will allow him to play a full series possibly one test if lucky. There’s way too many questions marks in Englands squad and l think the Aussies come on top.

Cocky England playing with fire in Ashes build-up, but are they prepared to get burnt?

I think it’s too early to say if the Saints are serious contenders with them being 8-3 last year. This team has a history of underperforming under pressure and the inability to cope with expectations.

Are the Saints the real deal?

Yes l agree last Saturday night with the Eagles vs Blues and North vs Dees was atrocious. I believe it should a 17-game season with every team playing each other once making it fair for everyone. We can’t have teams play West Coast twice gifting them a great percentage and extra win.

Is it fair to criticise the AFL scheduling so far this season?

Good point it is a hard situation in a list management point of view but, l think the culture of the club has been a huge issue. Leadership has missing for a long time at the club leading to players leaving. It looks like it’s improving at the moment which is good to see.

Enough talking, it's time for the Suns to shine
