Disagree here, there is catch, run and kick , and on the other hand there is catch, run and kick !!.

Alternatively some hackers drive, chip and put, but others who actually can play, drive, chip and put !!.

Welcome to Sydney Buddy – try rugby league on for size!

Buddys O/S ATM, so sorry Tim, not going to happen.

Seems like a bit of a weird article to me, i hesitate to just think, another re-actionary, jealous RL scribe, but in reality what are we meant to take from the article.

Welcome to Sydney Buddy – try rugby league on for size!

Interesting about QLD, the Darling Downs AFL league has more teams, players ( juniors + seniors ) than the entire WA Rugby League comp, which according to many RL fans is the next cab off the rank for expansion, because of the strength of the game there.

2010 the Lions averaged 30,000
2012 ……………………… 20 343
2013 21,082

When they are expected to be a strong finals threat, expect to move back up to 30,000

Franklin's Sydney move will make waves across the codes

So just of interest, who did you barrack for before 1937 ?… 🙂

Interesting about Archie Crofts, born in India, educated in Adelaide, and has a similar background to Basil Sellers, who is also a very big financial supporter of the Swans and has a Anglo/Indian background, being born in India, eductaed in Adelaide.

Buddy not the first controversial star to sign with Swans

I was actually looking for info on the long running battle between the SACA and the SANFL, and googled this.

Interesting to note, since this thread, back in 2009, the AFL have managed to help build/fund/organise Metricon, Skoda, upgrade Manuka, and the new stadium in Perth is now underway.

AFL games to be played at Adelaide Oval

LOL, Well said Kenneth, it appears that the SCG also love quirky, they have extended the SCG so it is just now 5 metres shorter and narrower than the MCG.

Quirky seems to pay, particuarly in relation to membership, crowds, sponsors etc.

Franklin's Sydney move will make waves across the codes

Do you actually know what you are talking about …. the Swans never played Geelong in a grand final, therefore they could not play them in a replay.

I am pretty sure that many people just ignore your posts, you never seem to get any info correct.

Many football fans have foxtel, particuarly in Sydney, FTA ratings declined in Sydney when Fox bought the rights to televise football. …… funny that !!

But this year FTA ratings in Sydney are up, and so are Foxtels.

If you add FTA, a conservative % estimate of FOX ratings, and the crowd at Swans homes games, the overall numbers, for the Swans are pretty good, and appears to be trending up.

Swans fans...is anyone else a little unsure about our new Buddy?

What about Barassi changing clubs, i wonder how it affected those kids grandparents in the day.

Peter Moore is another who springs to mind.

Swans fans...is anyone else a little unsure about our new Buddy?

I actually do rate Jesse White, think he is underated ATM. ( on this years form)

Franklin move sees White out the door

Collingwood players going to Carlton, or vice versa, is really a crime and should be legislated against.

Franklin move sees White out the door

The belief is that Sydney can ultimately sustain 2 AFL teams, coupled with the belief that the state of NSW can churn out enough draftees in the future to sustain them.

I would think that belief is justified, and coupled with hard work will prove to be correct, GWS has grown the football pie in Sydney, not cannibalised it.

Franklin's Sydney move will make waves across the codes

GWS are better off without Franklin, than with him IMO.

GWS are going to be a strong club sooner rather than later, Mumford is a good pickup, and there will be others, they have also the number 1 draft pick this year.

Franklin's Sydney move will make waves across the codes

Yet here is a guy that obviously does not like Australian football or the AFL , yet produces figures taken from Big footy …LOL.

In fact, you are incorrect, FTA ratings in Sydney and Brisbane were up from last year, and you forgot ( co-incidentially) to mention Fox ratings which are up substantially.

Sydney FTA ratings dropped substantially when FOX started televising the game.

As an example of Swans support during the finals, against Carlton they drew 135k FTA in Sydney, also Australia wide the game drew 404k on FOX, and 38k at the ground in Sydney.

That would say to me, that more than 200k of Sydneysiders have decent interest in the Swans, and they have a core group of around 120/40k of quite interested fans, who turn up or tune in weekly.

Franklin's Sydney move will make waves across the codes

SE QLD would be far more developed than Sydney/New/Woll in terms of grass roots clubs, % of population who follow the code, and general interest in the code.

Brisbane by all accounts should be be in a far stronger postion than they are now.

Buddy hell - are the Swans fair dinkum?

9 melbourne teams thanks 🙂

People have been saying what you have been saying for at least 20 years, and noi doubt a lot longer, and yet, year after year these clubs front up, and some years they have exceptional years.

St Kilda has won one premiership since 1874 … 1874 !!!, and yet a couple of years ago they has around/over 40,000 members !!.

IMO there is room, it is just a matter of the AFL implementing the correct policys, and re-implementing them when richer, bigger clubs find ways around them.

North Melbourne looks set for a good couple of years, IMO they add, not subtract from the game.

Sydney’s bid for Franklin makes a Buddy joke of the salary cap

It is a bit perplexing really, they should be a very strong club.

Buddy hell - are the Swans fair dinkum?

swans never post any profits, but on the other hand, they never seem to post any losses either.

I have a feeling they actually do make some good coin, but pay it forward into things continually ( player facilities, academys etc ) so they always look breadline.

Richard Colless is no 'dickhead', but is Buddy?

It is arguable that GWS with Buddy, would not be playing at a empty Skoda.

Why there’s nothing wrong with Sydney stealing Franklin

lions admin has not been up to standard, as is witnessed by the going on ATM, after the 3peat they had millions in the bank, but have since lost it.

They are on the way back up, and will start to post profits, their membership has built back up as well, the GC Suns took a few 1,000 off them , but the season just finished saw them have their biggest membership in a number of years.

They also now have a big sports club, and are in the process of building a very impressive Center of Excelllence.

Buddy hell - are the Swans fair dinkum?

Last year was the inaugural year of private school boys playing in a AFL comp in Sydney ( Knox grammar, Cranbrook etc ) .

Buddy being a old Wesleyan from Perth will really help this league grow, with all these schools in Swans territory.

Of course not to mention the other more visible benefits like membership, marketing, media hype.

Buddy hell - are the Swans fair dinkum?

Wow for Tennis Australia, on the back of one very large tournamnet .. impressive.

Buddy hell - are the Swans fair dinkum?

Disagree here, fast forward a year, and we will see marked improvements in GWS.

Top draft picks will eventually, by weight of numbers see them rise to the top.

Franklin would be Swans' next Plugger
