Interesting.
You’d think India would have gone the same way with their embrace of the 20 over giggle, yet they can still produce Pujara who was appreciated by teammates and the public (even if he grated some for his lack of pyrotechnics).
How come India’s bowlers can still do the job with the red ball?
Is it the sheer breadth of playing resources to draw on?

'Nothing but a horses-for-courses strategy': Why England had to turn to Bazball because of its player pool

That’s cool.
Don’t traumatise the guy further.

'A wonderful initiative': 33-year first as Wales to take on Queensland Reds in 'nod to traditional tours'

Was that the one where Peter Fitzsimons guested for SA?

'A wonderful initiative': 33-year first as Wales to take on Queensland Reds in 'nod to traditional tours'

Could not agree more.
Maybe slot in a solid long English county stint for incumbents and contenders alike.

Rejigged Aussie batting line-up fails again as top-order collapse puts Black Caps on track for drought-breaking Test win

I like the ring of “abject” in the description.
For England they celebrate when they lose with the Charge of the Light Brigade.
Never think about winning at Rorke’s Drift.
Congratulations India, England had their chances in every test and capitalised on one; you seized your opportunities with proper cricket.

Dharamshocker: England lose final Test by an innings as ANOTHER batting collapse seals India's dominant series win

I thought Australia had bottled the nonsense after Ravindra’s dismissal to make them 5 down.
I went to lunch at my brother’s place, came back and see the Australian bowling lost it with the last 5 wickets before watching the fall of Khawaja and Green.
Usman’s footwork , less said the better. I don’t know, it’s so attractive when it works but when it doesn’t …
Greenie, how can a player from West Australia get caught on the crease with a high bouncing delivery like that?
Am I harsh?

Maybe I’m old fashioned but growing up, rugby was all about the touring.
Different experiences.
Different ideas.
Different food terroir, I’m not being snobby.
Getting drunk with somebody from somewhere else.
This move should be celebrated.

Bazball’s final stand, coming up. With the current lead India have they are still wary of a firecracker innings from one of the English bats a la Pope’s 196 in the first Test. Still I can’t see India letting them off the hook.

Bazball on the brink of Dharamsala demolition: Tons of fun for Sharma, Gill as India build huge lead

England were relatively cruisy after lunch. I went downstairs to start dinner and come back and find three wickets lost. I choked on the feed.

Bazball down for the count as Indian spinners come out swinging to seize control of final Test

And I don’t subscribe to Stan. 😢

Waugh reveals shocking $2.6 million unapproved budget blowout on Eddie Jones' World Cup debacle

So sad.
I can see everyone who has posted here is seriously, deeply concerned with the game we love. Proof, there are so many good people with their heart in the right place.
I feel for rugby blokes, especially for the Waughs, Herberts and Roffs in the corridors of power as for the Bobs and Steves and Johns (and Karens) running around with the junior sides, people who care and they have to spin some glimmer of a light at the end of the tunnel. The game is broke – financially, spiritually, philosophically.
I have no skin in the game, my sons are long past playing, but I don’t see anything but a diminished professional level game played on these shores.
Sure, vibrant competitions will subsist but the elite individuals will migrate to where the money is.
And it ain’t on these shores.

Always a good strategy. 😊

‘Fun and games, banter’: Leniu response to racial allegation beggars belief as ‘heat of the battle’ mentality harms NRL yet again

IMHO, dead right. But…..
It’s very contestable ground.
Say the authority, in this case CA or Victoria, ban him.
He moves interstate.
What then?
The other state bans him and it is contested.
I don’t want to go there.

Will Pucovski has given Australian sport its first major concussion test case

For sure.

Will Pucovski has given Australian sport its first major concussion test case

Just to clear the idea that whenever a batter gets hit is not automatically foul play in either sport.
I’ve been bounced and sconned and never had the impression that they were aiming at me. I have been thrown at, I believe, deliberately and got hit but was in so much pain I had no recourse but to take my base and get the satisfaction of the pitcher being ejected by the umpire.

Pucovski retires hurt in distressing scenes after another Sheffield Shield head knock

With all due respect to Sean Abbott, I don’t know how he can continue to play the game.

Will Pucovski has given Australian sport its first major concussion test case

The pitcher like the bowler is not trying to hit the batter. It’s a brushback to set him up for a slider on the outside of the plate. Hit batters are an everyday occurrence in the majors. Some guys specialise in reaching base that way. Overwhelmingly, the occasions where a batter is hit is a slip or poorly executed pitch.
If the pitcher deliberately targets the batter, and blokes can tell the difference, THEN the benches clear.

Professionalising Rugby gave Australia a boost initially – witness 1999 World Cup – but once the rest of the world cottoned onto the professional game it’s been downhill.

Why things could be about to get even uglier for Rugby Australia in fallout over Rebels debacle

Fine issues covered.
The waiver is not a viable or enforceable.
The 500 pound gorilla in this room is the common law damages implications the former NFL players successfully brought to a conclusion.
For the sake of Will Pucovski the human being, not the cricket prodigy, not the marketable commodity: I do not want to see the spectre of another Phil Hughes in this sport, the total trauma from an act on a sporting field.

Will Pucovski has given Australian sport its first major concussion test case

Wishful thinking
See below.
The arguments go back and forth over tax liabilities, corporate filings, who owes who what….
My question is how it has come down to this sad state and is there ANY foreseeable direction for the sport in this country at the elite level with the stakeholders at hand?

Or the ultimate body Rugby Australia.
Covered themselves in glory with the whole shebang.

Oh, and I forgot 2 x Super Rugby Pacific fixtures on Stan.

I wouldn’t go so far as rejoicing a New Zealand win – my charity has limits – but a Derek Randall-Centenary Test epic innings in a losing cause would be memorable.

Black Caps dare to dream of epic comeback win after Australia's brittle batting exposed by part-time spinner

Cruel but fair! 😛

Australia vs New Zealand Test series deserves greater fanfare than a March through autumn clash with footy codes
