great to see some more players put their hands up and lock in key position so am happy to see some of those numbers becoming clearer. Valetini at 8 (can Harry Wilson play 6?), Kellaway at 15 (safe smart FB we need) and Ikitau at 13. if Cooper and Kerevi can stay on form for the RWC, only numbers that are still up for grabs are 2 and 5. The numbers are becoming clearer.
Numbers speak to just how hard Rennie is working to find Wallabies' way forward
Does this speak to the culture at the Rebels more than the Wallabies?
UPDATED: Rennie on Wallabies' reaction as trio, including Marika Koroibete, stood down for drinking
I am such a sucker for Rugby and some slow mo action…. tingles. Really simple and a great job.
Rugby Australia's promo for the domestic Super Rugby comp is superb
Don’t agree at all. If the reds lose this game they can kiss their season goodbye. not worth taking the risk of resting first choice 15. If they are well ahead early, he can hook those players and give them a rest.
Super Rugby Round 4 teams: Rebels smashed by two huge outs
Japan is where the money is and you want to bring them in “Maybe” . Your argument is illogical. Additionally, it is past time that world rugby gave back to the pacific nations and found a way to be more inclusive of them. Finally, there are enough pacific islanders in Aus, NZ and Japan that their away games would be very well supported.
Roll up, folks, it's time for another round of rugby broadcast negotiations by media
AFL is a good example unless you think that every player in the Gold Cost Suns is a product of the gold coast? You are thinking internationally, i am just stating that there is no difference between growing up in Melbourne and playing for the Suns, and growing up in Sydney and playing for the Crusaders.

it works fine in the NRL and AFL not to mention football globally, so i don’t see why it would be a problem in rugby. Make it about tribalism, not regionalism. Plus it exposes our players to the NZ systems and evens the odds.

Yes perhaps the best thing RA can do is just get out of his and their own way.

In order to get the best broadcast deal, the whole super rugby structure needs to be revised. Nobody cares about Super Rugby anymore, but perhaps OPTUS would be a lot more interested in a new and fresh time zone friendly competition which includes: Aus, NZ, Japan, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga. Time to re brand and kill off the mess that is Super Rugby and allow players to represent their country no matter what team they are playing for within the new comp to increase competition and try and reduce the very boring NZ (Crusaders) domination.

Yes it always saddens me when international tourists are suckered into going to the Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise. Whoever thought up those names was a marketing genius but did Australia and tourists no favours.
Super Rugby Round 2: second round syndrome
Am so glad he is no longer playing for the wallabies, it obviously meant nothing to him if he is going to try to drag this through the court system and bleed the already financially unstable AR dry. Always just thought he was lazy, now it looks like he just didn’t care.
Is anybody else a bit disgusted by the fact that a sports star who has earned a lot more money than the majority of Australians is hoping to Crowd-fund his legal fees?
Folau hoping to crowd-fund legal case against Rugby Australia
Great post! Need to make it an event again.
Crowds: An actual national rugby crisis that demands attention
It is a valid enough comparison, one team has a tribe despite being terrible, and the Brumbies don’t have anything despite being consistently the best team in aus. There are differences sure, but enough similarities to be able to say that beating NZ more often is not the key. Additionally, Canberra is hardly the flooded sports market that the rest of Aus is.

My town’s team is not the perennial underdog, they used to be the best team in Chile, Alexis Sanchez used to play for them, but now that they are terrible and their fans still show up. Though i agree that football being the national sport does play its part.

Yes i remember when Cheika first starting getting Fardy to play out wide, just never felt like it worked, especially when they are the last receiver and in space and just have to run back into suport because they dont have the speed to try and get around.
Port Elizabeth: Space just for the birds, not the Wallabies?
Well not that long ago i would be talking my wife into a road trip over to Salta to watch the game this weekend, but as things stand i cannot see how it would be worth it.
Enjoyed your analysis as always Nick, helps me get through my Tuesdays.
I had been questioning the repeated selection of Koroibete but feel like this game did really highlight that his strengths are being smothered by the way he is being asked to play.
What were your thoughts in regards to Hooper playing out wide so much? What were they trying to accomplish by this? Surely a couple of the opportunities that he had would have been better served if they had been received by an actual winger with the speed and elusiveness of Falau or Koroibete?

Good read thanks Brett.
I think defence says a lot about a team’s mental state and those stats are the clearest indicator that Cheiker is losing the team. They know their coach is in trouble, but the tacking is getting worse, so what does that tell you?
Also, am sick of the “pass mark” being adjusted as we get worse. The truth of the matter is that we are going to finish this RC with a maximum of two wins out of 6, i have never received a pass mark for 33% so I don’t know why Cheika should, especially one year out from the RWC when the game in Aus desperately needs some positive exposure and momentum.
This whole situation just makes me sad and i am only really interested in the NRC these days. Cheika needs to go just to create some hope, even if it is unrealistic.
Progress starts by fixing things that have fallen off along the way
“They were blown off the park at the back end of both Bledisloes but the margins were pretty small,” he said.
Wow, they really do have their heads in the sand. No wonder they are getting worse “You rectify those small errors and it’s a hell of a different game” they are all in denial. Where did all the Australian Rugby brains go?
Wounded Wallabies prepare for Springboks
Starting to wonder how much talent could be wasted under Thorn. Under a better coach they could easily have 5 or 6 starting wallabies, but it could very well just be the one come July. Is Ewen Mckenzie really lost to Aus rugby? Such a waste.
