Lots of comments about potentially wasted money on a League player, time will tell if it is a good decision. There is plenty of other wasted money, a lot of money spent on diversity and politically correct causes.

COMMENT: Australian rugby is a depressing picture - the RA board must be axed and the constitution changed

He is paid to play football, nothing else. Either all players should be banned for off field issues or they should all be able to play.
It appears from this article that the issues with his wife are civil, not criminal which means he can argue he was not found guilty of a crime, yet other players in NRL and NRLW have actually been found guilty in criminal proceedings and continue to play. I think he is a grub and should not play, but this should be extended to other players too.

Whether NRL celebrates Jennings' milestone or not is irrelevant, the real issue is should he have been allowed back?

My issue is his impact on Link leaving the Wallabies coaching position, this seems like a pretty good starting point for the decline of the Wallabies.
I acknowledge that he was not found guilty of a crime, but I also have issues with his morals as I am sure his pregnant wife also had at the time.
Great player though and in a professional age what he does on the field is the only important thing to a team.

It is always interesting when players are involved in reviews, has a single player ever admitted that they may be to blame, or is it always someone else’s fault?

Rugby Australia kicks off review into Waratahs as pressure mounts on Coleman ahead of Brumbies clash

I would have hoped that the stadiums could be filled to at least 20k by giving tickets away to kids.

For Super Rugby it seems odd to have a plan to get a maximum of 5000 to a game (prior to 15000 at new stadium). It reminds me of Clive Palmers less that 5000 plan with his now defunct A League team.

PE backed consortium 'in final stages' to save Melbourne Rebels with $30m injection and link with A-League club

“The deal will include playing games in the recently opened 5000 capacity stadium and the 15,000 capacity stadium which is anticipated to be ready for the 2026/27 A-League Season and the 2027 Rugby World Cup.” If professional rugby continues in Melbourne, why would there be plans for World Cup games to be played at a 15000 seat stadium?

I left Sydney for Brisbane in 2001, just after the Olympics and found it quite easy to get a train to the stadium, what has changed? I assume the rail line still exists? I think the problem is that Super Rugby needs to accept that 11k is a good crowd and they need to redo their budgets for this lower income. If it means people move overseas then so be it, the business has the be profitable.

'Curse the money all you want' but RA must work out what it wants from Super Rugby - otherwise the game is doomed

The win loss record is important, but who we play has to be taken into account. Playing so many games against NZ and SA is going to make it tough to have a winning record. If the Socceroos played Brazil and Argentina all the time then they would appear to be a worse team than they are when they can pad out their record against teams like Lebanon.

Filipo Daugunu did some good stuff, but has a team of the week ever had a player who has made so many errors in one game?

The Wrap: Good news and bad news for Rugby Australia as Brumbies and Rebels win local derbies

I think that we are to loyal to players who have had a good game in the past and when this is combined with accepting players who have flawed techniques or lacking skills but get picked because the score an occasional exciting try then you end up with a squad that nobody could coach successfully.

I think Eloff would be a good buy, can play both sides too

Did anyone say they deserve it, or just that this is what would happen to them? If I was to say don’t speed as you will get a fine, am I saying you deserve a fine, or that maybe you should take steps to avoid the penalty? It does not mean I support the fine.

Izzy back to his old ways: Folau scores on debut from a falcon in Japan after nine-month absence

I find it interesting when people have such a thorough knowledge of the scriptures but don’t acknowledge that the same scriptures allow sinners to repent and still go to heaven. He may have made mistakes in the past like getting tattoos but he can still repent so pointing them out is kind of pointless. Nobody is without sin, and this was the entire point of his social media posts, it was about how sinners can repent.

I would be happy for broadcasters to show the countdown timers for lineouts, scrums and kicks at goal. Maybe even a 5 second timer for “use it” as well.

WR's mooted law changes are great - but show there's a hell of a lot wrong with rugby in 2024, and that sucks

I think the second push in a maul allows for the defence to set a platform and then the second effort is designed to test the strength of the teams, similar to why the scrum “sets” before the pushing. I dont mind the mauls at the moment, but I would not allow them to be able to directly score if they are formed less than 15m from the try line, if they are formed close to the line (eg 5m lineout) then I would mandate that a pass must be completed before scoring a try to allow for a chance of competitions for the ball. As for rucks, I would allow the hands to touch the ground prior to touching the ball as long as the jackler is standing and not leaning his knees on an opponent. The more pilfers the better.

Toole stunner sees Brumbies snap 10-year drought in Dunedin as flyer's Test stocks rise

I am a massive Wilson fan and would love him to be a Wallaby, but if this means having anyone other than Liam Wright at 6 then I wouldn’t do it. Wright should be at 6, if he is over his run of injuries he should be 6 . I dont think he is given the credit outside of QLD for the work he does, even stats people seem to ignore how good he is.

'Breathing life back into Australian rugby': How Reds revolution can supercharge several Wallaby careers

Due to efforts to encourage inclusion there are occasions where specific races are only able to apply for a job so I guess “whites” have been denied jobs.

I think the charge is ridiculous and I hope if she is found guilty that the world realises how soft it has become and this type of law will dispensary.

I have never thought that “white” was an offensive word, but have witnessed a person of colour become upset after being called white so there must be something offensive in it. Imagine calling Lydia Thorpe a white person, what reaction would she give and why?

Have the Matildas eclipsed the Socceroos? Whatever you think, Australian football fans are in for some exciting times

The Wallabies got 53,245 in Melbourne in 2022 for a midweek Thursday Bledisloe Match, it was a sell out. Maybe they could have on a Wednesday night as well???

No chance anyone but the Matildas could do it in 2024.

Perfect 10: Matildas seal ticket to Paris Olympics with Uzbekistan annihilation as Heyman strikes awesome foursome

Are they allowed to play other sports? At my school we played soccer at lunchtime because we would get into trouble playing any sport that involved tackling and touch footy just isn’t the same.

I think Football in Australia missed a great opportunity after the world cup, I would have loved them to let all girls under 8 play 2 x seasons for free at their local club to get the majority of girls playing the game and hope that you can keep the interest as they get older.

Statistically the Reds are on track for an undefeated season with their weak scrummaging.

'Tough call': Reds too good for Tahs in cracking Aussie derby, as controversial penalty try, yellow to Jorgo proves telling

People look at the number of tries being scored and forget about flaws, even our great players in modern times had critical parts of their game missing. Israel Folau was a fullback who could not be relied on for kicking from the hand and could only really pass one way, especially under pressure, but everyone looked at his ju ping and try scoring ability. Obviously points are important, but with the right skill set he could have scored just as often and also set up others. As far as size goes, I think that Chris Feauai-Sautia is a great example of a huge kid being fast tracked before developing skills. for an international winger he was also lacking in skills commonly sought from a winger.
