It has been revealed by Channel Nine that 2GB radio presenter, Ray Hadley, is to call Sunday night’s Australia vs New Zealand Rugby World…
What a fantastic win for world rugby it was! The Samoan victory is more evidence of the fact that, contrary to what some claim,…
In a recent article, Richard Hinds joined the seemingly ever-increasing list of Australian media commentators jumping on the bandwagon to bash rugby union (think…
Whilst watching (and actually enjoying) this year's football World Cup, particularly the Argentinian team and their fascinating coach, I was reminded of the famous…
Recently, a long-overdue apology was made to the Maori people by both the South African and New Zealand Rugby Unions for their Apartheid-era role…
Quade is still in our top two 5/8s in Australia.
If we want to win games, he needs to be in the mix, either starting or on the bench.
Predicted Wallabies team in 2024: Eddie's outcasts back as halves, back-row battles heat up
If we accept that we are Tier 2, which we are currently, then surely getting into the QFs and losing (maybe by a little or maybe alot) is preferable to what occurred?!
Despite what Eddie says, QC and MH and others he left out would have almost certainly ensured that…
Personally, I’d much rather limp into the QFs for the next 4 World Cups than witness again what happened at this year’s Cup.
At the end of the day, Eddie’s selections have done further damage to Australian rugby, at exactly the moment it didn’t need it.
Wallabies are where the All Blacks were in 2007 - it's time to look in the mirror or risk more embarrassment
Of course it’s a bad outcome for rugby… There was hardly anything in those QFs, it could have gone either way, and would have been great to see a new winner.
It would be bad if rugby goes down the football route which, despite the hype, is actually becoming *less* competitive at World Cups.
The Wrap: There's a reason Boks and All Blacks are at the big boys' table - the rest have to earn their way onto it
Australia has become massively more regulated around alcohol in public space over last 20 years, especially in Sydney. Tailgate parties would never be allowed!
It's time to upsize Super Rugby and celebrate our differences
This whole things been a bloody disaster…
Bring back Quade from Oztag!
Eddie digs in as he flies home - AGAIN denying he wants to quit to coach Japan, while revealing next step
Tim Horan had same intel regarding Eddie… is he a stooge too?

Noone from Sydney cares about the GWS though… maybe particularly in the area theyre based… it’s league territory.
Swans of course are completely different.
If GWS weren’t winning matches due to favourable draft system, they would have the lowest support in the AFL
'How much does Australian rugby want to learn from the world?': Why you've got to stay tuned into World Cup
Exactly… I just had a league friend tell me the other day that he saw a Super Rugby game through work this year and didn’t rate it. He used to watch the Wallabies two decades ago.
He also was of the idea that “rugby union is dying” internationally. It’s amazing how strong that fake narrative is here in Australia.

You’re right, if it had been stuck at for 16 years it might well be a different scenario we’re in now

In Sydney though you have ready-made crowds for a number of Shute Shield teams… I don’t think say Sydney North, East, West, South would get bigger crowds.
Or why you’d want to start again from scratch…
(Fyi I’m not a rusted-on supporter of any SS team but have always been to a couple of different matches a season for diff. teams).
I know it’s not a like for like comparison, but something like GWS in the AFL is a complete and utter waste of time and money and will never win “hearts and minds”… why? Because there’s no history
'How much does Australian rugby want to learn from the world?': Why you've got to stay tuned into World Cup
The thing is though, a number of Shute Shield teams have enjoyed significant crowd numbers over last few years (at least up till covid).
Also, other sporting competitions (NRL and AFL) generally wouldn’t just jettison historic 100 year old clubs for brand new entities (obviously some exceptions).
I get that out third tier can’t be *only* Shute Shield/Brisbane comp. But totally getting rid of that long history would surely not be the right decision?

The notion that Quade is “done” (or even Hooper) is just wrong and wouldn’t be entertained by most other nations….
They might only make it another year (who knows) but writing them off on performances this season seems illogical, especially given how diabolical the WC team has been.
If Eddie continue he needs to eat humble pie, apologise and invite them back into the fold.
Maybe Quade’s phone is working again!
The Wallabies' World Cup campaign was a disaster from start to finish - but sacking Eddie Jones isn't the answer
On a tangential point, it does seem that AFL sticks with coaches for longer. I don’t follow the game, but maybe some know if this is the case? Even for losing teams.
Eddie Jones should be celebrated not booed: Why the worst thing RA could do is sack the Wallabies coach
Exactly!!!
He is our version of Sexton, and should have been treated with more respect.

Insane take!
For starters, Eddie got rid of the “winningest” 5/8 in the last decade: Quade Cooper.

On a sort of side note (I’m sure this has been discussed before), but does the rate / prevalence of CTE / similar effects seem to be increasing or is it just more noticed now?
Why didn’t we head about players in their 40s getting it in the 80s/90s/00s? Maybe it was swept under the carpet
The Wrap: Why the Owen Farrell fiasco is a good thing for rugby
Think Gregan was 34 when he retired. But, yes, you’re right people were calling for him to go for awhile.
With Quade it’s by and large not the case… Most Wallaby fans want him to continue.
Exclusive: 'Think he's very upset, mate': Quade rejected Eddie's call after brutal omission - and hasn't been heard from since
Every 10 years he gets rorted by coaches it seems.
For someone who is in 35 he continues to play seriously well. Can anyone else think of a recent Wallaby back who’s played to this level at 35? Genuinely.

Maybe Eddie stuck in 2003 Howard-era of Wallabies tracksuit, Driza-bones and Akubras.
And John Williamson doing Waltzing Matilda…
'Give yourself upper cuts': Eddie furious at journos after 'worst press conference I've ever had'
Yes, exactly right. Because thats what it is for Quade, effectively a dismissal.

Yep, again, there is no way QC is not one of the top 2 Australian 5/8s right now.
To not take him is absurd.
Revealed: Foley still in World Cup mix after Australia A call up, Cooper pulls pin as Hooper ruled out
It will be interesting (and of course unfortunate to those injured) to see if injuries mean QC and MH actually end up playing at this world cup…
Eddie has said it might happen.
I reckon Hooper especially must have had an inkling that he might be jettisoned, given he said he was “desperate” to be picked, something I doubt he would have ever said before.
I’m fine with all other selections, but I just can’t believe those two aren’t in our top 33 players.
World Cups, unshakeable belief, the Wallabies, and those Waltzing Matildas
Other teams would bring along experienced players like Quade and Hooper?
Also, I can’t recall a precedence of the situation where a player was cajoled (by his own and other’s admissions) into becoming captain on the eve of a WC?
So, yeah, it does appear a bit disrespectful to me of the pinnacle of the game
The Wrap: Is Eddie Jones playing the role of Keyser Soze or Frank Drebin?
It’s true that having access to all those league players would help alot.
But it’s a similarly difficult situation in Ireland, due to competition from multiple other sports (Gaelic football, hurling, soccer), and in fact even more so when you consider there are only 5 million people on the whole island, the population of NSW.
