When the Wallabies management, high performance team and coaching staff, the clubs come together the naval gazing is required for a short time. In the past a navel gazing exercise has been undertaken and the changes have not been fundamental enough. Nucifora suggested a centralised system before his talent was lost to Ireland. A high performance co-ordinator should look at the injuries in this past world cup which took Skelton and other top tier selections off the field at critical times. Wallabies need to look at the depth of talent to be in contention in a world cup. Endless scrum penalties that appear to be random penalty time from Australian supporters perspective. Are we a Second tier nation masquerading as a Top tier team? We have the past decade! Can we compete with the monster pack of the Springboks and the heavyweight Kiwis? Her is a suggestion, let us play them far less often? Lets not poach overpaid and Lazy superstars from League, ever! There is a long list of failed Wallaby converts from league that have not lived up to expectations. With the intensity of games, we need more top flight players. or less games against the teams that cause injury and damage. We need to face the fact we are currently a Second tier nation, will we stay there?
How to rebuild the Wallabies after World Cup defeat
I think Eddie Jones is correct to say that any incident must be viewed primarily at normal speed. In slow motion many innocent contacts seem like serious foul play. Intent must also be part of the ruling. This is a contact sport and collisions occur. An alternative would be to have a method whereby a suspension for fouls could be served after and separate to the World Cup, where the offence occurred outside this tournament. I wonder whether the Yellow card should be reduced to a 5 minute suspension of play rather than 10 minutes? Also cumulative yellow card suspension. First yellow gets 5 minutes, second gets 10, third yellow gets upgraded to red? How dangerous was the Farrell incident, how likely to injure an opponent, and how much intent was there to commit the offence. What is the players past record in this space. this is what a judiciary need to consider.

A good appraisal of the Wallabies strengths and weaknesses. The All Blacks have two or three forwards cleaning out fast at every breakdown. the Wallabies have been laggards. generally it takes two or three seasons of training and preparing to be as clinical as the All Blacks, the Wallabies have a few weeks to manifest a similar level of energy and power at the breakdown. In the second half of the 2nd Bledisloe, the forwards fell away and the backline came under enormous pressure, the scoreline also indicated the dominance of the AB’s in the second half. Can’t back down in at the breakdown and need more precision and power getting there faster to be contenders. Skelton did contest a few AB throw ins and won, needs to do that for the entire tournament. Eddie Jones has shown improvement and I think identified where weaknesses are that may be plugged before this contest. True believers we have the talent the size and athleticism to beat any team if we apply ourselves for the full 80, and we have improved every run out. We need to unleash the skill of our backline by reaching parity in the forwards.
ANALYSIS: One huge weight off Eddie Jones' shoulders - but several glaring weaknesses he still must fix
As Eddie is playing a new style of Rugby, we saw in the first half against the All Blacks that when the Wallabies win the breakdown contest we had go-forward and we dominated, the backs had room, time and space. Michael Hooper was doing better when David Pocock was his partner on the other side, his selection is unbalanced now as he does not get over the ball and fetch and is not big enough to impact the breakdown contest. He should not be captain of the World Cup, an impact player for the last quarter at best. Skelton decided to jump against the throw and won a few, we need more of that. The “Box” kick, can you show me a time when this was a good option even once in the past 30 of them? Only to be deployed when we are 30 meters from their line and absolutely never in our own half, for mine never again. Quade has been an exceptional kicker….. his handling on one occasion let him down from a difficult pass. Injuries to first pick tight heads are an indication how much pressure these guys legs are under. Is there a third string tight head prop who is robust, light and strong?? Pick the tall heavy timber fast and agile at the back of the scrum. Cross kicking where we can regather, need more of that. Had one penalty been successful that hit the post or I think Carter Gordon had not rolled on his back he would have planted the pill! So for mine under Eddie we can win the World Cup. He needs to fix the tight head prop and maintain dominance at any breakdown as we did in the first half. Who is the mystery tight head?? Bell has been outstanding and no issues with the other players who are growing in confidence. Must step up to meet SOuth Africa and Kiwi full strength teams. We are in it to win it and we are progressing at an incredible pace under Eddie. Apart from high injury rates have no criticism of Eddie so far!
Wallabies fans appear comfortable with 0 and 4 – but some obvious questions remain
Rugby Australia on the ropes financially! RA can not afford high profile code swappers in the mix. The current incomes of Wallaby players can not be justified with Harvey norman ditching sponsorship. They need to approach Gina Rhinehart and Andrew Forrest fast. Sponsorship for R.M. Williams and other brands associated with Forrest would be a good fit.
