Couldn’t agree more, with new technology, we should embrace it. While sometimes it become overwhelming, such as stats like WAR (Wins above replacement) in the MLB. Efficiency ratings in basketball, QBR in the NFL, plus/minus in NHL and EPV is a no brainer and should be used in a variety of sports. Embrace the technology and analytics. I’m sure a number of clubs could benefit from this. Every aspect of the AFL (and NRL) has improved with increased knowledge, nutrition, player fitness, conditioning, and recovery so why analytics aren’t being used more as in the US pro (and college) sports is baffling.

Are Australian sports missing the boat on analytics?

What an impressive opener by the reigning champs. Harvin is such a good utility and can be used as a receiver as well as RB. Not sure how much longer beast mode can go on with the speed and fearlessness of running through defenders so its useful to have Harvin as well. For what it’s worth, the Seahawks didn’t appear to miss Tate at all. If the Hawks get home field in the playoffs and the road to the SB goes through Seattle, they will make back to back super bowl appearances and likely repeat.

Seahawks can soar to greater heights with Percy Harvin

Couldn’t believe my eyes. After Leddy jumped out and scored I thought we had it, even at 2-1 going into the 3rd. But 3 goals in 5 minutes by L.A. !! The hawks have to steal a game back at Staples, no way can you go back to Chicago 3-1 down!

2014 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs – Western Conference final preview

Gaborik has turned up for the playoffs, and you could argue that Kopitar is the front runner for the Conn Smythe so far. As good as Quick has been the last two years, Crawford’s post season numbers are impressive, only Lundqvist slightly ahead. Similarly, I don’t see NYR beating the hawk’s if they make the final (and looks like they will, especially with Price out now for the habs). While chicago play well and feed off the crowd at the UC, MSG seems to put more pressure on the rangers, who have been hit and miss at home this post season. …But then again, I’m a blackhawks fan so i could be biased.

And did I read that if Callahan stays on with the lightning after this season NYR gets a 2nd round pick from Tampa? Interesting that LA always seem to need goal scorers around the trade deadline, they acquired Carter for similar lack of goals.

Eliot, events like this always seem to sell out. Im not sure if its businesses and corporate sponsors, but $69 for row ZZ nosebleeds doesn’t seem to be much value in my opinion. Compare that to events like the ICC 2015 cricket world cup, where even the final is under $200 a seat, or even a seminal band like the rolling stones being cheaper. If you love baseball its one thing, I’d probably pay a lot if NHL came down under, however, a uni student like me or an average income earning couldn’t afford to take a family to the game, which is the real shame. Furthermore, MLB has 162 games to make money from, plus broadcasting revenue.

Cost of sports tickets catches fans offside

Let’s hope he comes out of it ok. I 100% agree with the game being stopped and postponed, given the seriousness of Peverly’s condition. I did like watching the stars earlier in the season, Benn and Seguin were really productive and fun to watch. I’d really like to see them make playoffs for their confidence, and fans.

The Dallas Stars have had quite a week

A game at the Frozen Tundra would be epic. I’m not sure exactly who people in Wisconsin support in NHL but fans from minnesota, chicago, detroit, st louis and even winnipeg would surely pack it out. On another matter, Wisconsin deserve and NHL team!

Agree with Nashville, Denver and Vegas as well. I’ve always thought a Stars game at jerry world -Cowboys stadium would be great. As well as Minnesota, I’ve always felt the Habs deserved a winter classic as the most storied franchise in hockey, possibly at McGill University where the CFL alouettes play.

Vegas should be top of the list of NHL Stadium Series venues

As a blackhawks fan, the blues worry me a lot. I can’t find a weakness on their roster and they play with a one for all mentality. From leader backes to oshie, pietrangelo, berglund and steen. While Halak isn’t a scrub, Miller is an upgrade. And Ott just adds to their toughness. I wouldn’t be surprised if they made it to the Western conference final, unless they draw their nemesis, the sharks. On the other matter, a captain for captain trade of St. Louis and Callahan would be interesting, but wouldn’t Yzerman be better off trading St Louis for a younger player/s and picks and build the team around Stamkos?
