I have nothing against players from developing nations playing origin (in the short term)
The international calendar needs a fix so the ‘minnow’s are playing more and more importantly playing more against the big nations.
State of Origin must be denationalised
Concerned at profit with games between midnight-6am….
*not sure how much rights went for though*
Phil Rothfield, I have a question for you
I’d like to know how much coin if would cost….I think the 7mate ratings at the times would be higher than what GEM broadcast at the same times…Rabs then being saying the same things on radio. I’m glad they didn’t want it, coverage of 08 WC was terrible.
Phil Rothfield, I have a question for you
Gyngell said say he wasn’t interested as the world cup wouldn’t make channel 9 any money…that sums up 9’s love for the game.
Phil Rothfield, I have a question for you
The NRL was always going to be stuck with channel 9…their first and last rights ensured they’d get the rights…NRL was just lucky to get the money out of them. The first and last rights is gone for next tv deal so no doubt the NRL will be able to be flexible with how the rights are done etc split the product and demand live and HD coverage.
NRL: We need to talk about Channel Nine
Losing Widdop was the key for the Storm, Finch wasn’t a replacement who could take the Storm to a title this year. Cody Walker will be the 5/8 next year and is a talent, Rose off the bench will add more energy, Travis Robinson is a safe option on wing compared to rocks and diamonds of Waqa and Fonua.
Is this the beginning of the end of the Melbourne Storm?
Totally serious.
His role was to sell the Storm and the buyers bring in a new CEO ie: same as the commission did with Gallop being moved on. For how he handled the Storm after the salary cap, to keep the club in the position it is now. V’landys has handled many challenges during his time. Parra need to think outside the box now. I saw stephen humphreys name mentioned…him or Gauci/V’landys..is an easy deicision.
Mind you, I bet they’ll go with a safe option…they need to go down Roosters path though..split Football and Commercial.
V'landys and Gauci: the men for Parramatta
Far out, definitely gives Bailey a running start more so now
Laying down the odds for Hussey’s replacement
Usman needs to score big runs this week in SS, I forgot he was reserve for Clarke for Melb.Syd so that is on his side
Laying down the odds for Hussey’s replacement
It will probably be George Bailey – they’ve blooded him in T20 and One day cricket, he also is a middle order player where as Khawaja is more a top 4 batsman.
Laying down the odds for Hussey’s replacement
The NRL acted quickly and correctly, enough said. It shows up Rugby and how little development they have in their game 😉
Buderus kybosh shows National Reaction League at best
Just think, 9 have thrown away the last 15 years to go with Hadley and now no douby Hadley will be the number 1 caller when Rabs retired..
It’s a disgrace how they’ve treated Voss… no chance he’ll be at 9 next year, hopefully Fox signs him up.
Who is the better commentator: Andrew Voss or Ray Hadley?
Yeah..good try, but move along with the code war starter article
The fading relevance of State of Origin
When in doubt..pick a bench player from the grand final winners of the year before..Merrin now Buhrer..Hinchcliffe is a certain for NSW bench next year
NSW State of Origin 2012 team announced; expert reaction
Creagh is the weak inclusion, wont offer anything off bench, he should start now he is selected
NSW State of Origin 2012 team announced; expert reaction
I am very disappointed that the Roast is now a segment in the Sunday Footy Show, Gilbert loves footy yes, but I find him extremely dull, Mad Dog was alright, Andrew Ryan added less than nothing and Webster hardly got a word in. Gus is no longer involved for whatever reason and TK has been shafted too. No doubt Voss will be somewhere else in 2013 as the main caller.
Loss of Voss part of poor Channel Nine footy programming
the afl has been great for rugby league, it got people concentrating on the game in west sydney and other areas, it got the IC pushed forward which will be the best thing for the game. The media loves this ‘war’ they goto Sheedy every week and then goto a dinosaur RL administrator and get their response. Phil Gould hasnt said anything negative about the AFL, just how good of a job they have done..which helps from a money pool as big as they have.
NRL's fear of the GWS "Body Snatchers"
The game needs England to at the very least make the final, hopefully they can build to the world cup. If Sam Tomkins goes to RU then honestly and I’m a rugby league fan through and through..the game is stuffed.
How to wake England, the sleeping giant
The NRL clearly wins in markets 1 and 3, the simple fact that the AFL (during their last tv deal) go upto 7 games on free to air meant more people were able to watch. Comparing the AFL 6 to 7 games in FTA and the NRL always 3..on the average weeks it was 3.5 v 2.5 million viewers. The NRL does pretty well in that case.
NRL won't give AFL a free-kick in western Sydney
It’s impossible for the NRL to not have any clashes, remembering, the super rugby will be on and the aleague will still be running, games will clash.
NRL won't give AFL a free-kick in western Sydney
The Giants v Swans will probably get more, but get beaten in the ratings which is what the nrl and afl really want at the end of the day.
NRL won't give AFL a free-kick in western Sydney
If Franklin went to GWS, then the NRL might have raised one eyebrow…NRL would have jumped for joy when he signed for the Swans
Buddy's presence is no threat to Sydney's other codes
