Hopefully Broich will return to Brisbane in some coaching capacity in the near future as he had wanted to. Legend of the club… theres still room for a statue down the caxton end entrance right?

Thomas Broich set to leave Brisbane Roar

A good performance by the victory lads that has probably wrapped up second place. Brisbane for third hopefully.

Highlights: No Glory for Perth, but Melbourne get the Victory

To ask for a team with national team potential or national team experience is not unreasonable but to have a team full of players that will play for the Socceroos in say the next 6 or even 12 months would require abolishing the salary cap.

Just to start with the goal keeper would require ryan, langerak, galekovic or an import for example. At the other end of the field beyond tim cahill as a striker pickings would be very slim also.

If McKay doesn’t get a recall and broich never played for Germany(in senior competition) and holmans probably no more likely to get a phonecall from ange than tommy oar is not only can we not reach this standard with the entire squad but we cant reach it with two consecutive generations of marquee players.

A bridge too far indeed but so it would seem for any a league club.

Roar star Thomas Kristensen extends his stay in Brisbane

After seeing victory pick apart the mariners maybe the sky blues should be more worried about the lads in navy than brisbane roar. That said 9 points isn’t beyond brisbanes reach. On the other hand 36 undeafeted (how’s that for invincible) is a little too far for sydney to manage but not a bad effort none the less.

Sydney FC look to extend run against weakened Roar

Melbourne City can use all the help they can get. This should be good for the crowd figures as well.

Cahill signs with Melbourne City on monster deal

More entertaining than his teams football on occasion.

Graham Arnold needs a media coach

City, adelaide the wanderers and roar. I cant imagine who mvfc fans would rather take the plate. Hoping brisbane won’t need to rely on any results other than their own match.

City hands A-League control to Brisbane

While I agree JA looks like he’s seeing the world as nothing more then a blur when roar are on the back foot I have more faith in the Aloisi boys then I could’ve hoped to have in Frans last year. Moments you went a goal down and knew there wasn’t a point, let alone 3 to be gained. I don’t believe JA is the best tactician about but all the same he is doing something right.

The tenacity and ability to always pose a threat to the opposition is a great thing to have in a team. The roar look capable of delivering ‘and they’ve pulled it out of the fire’ moments more often than not this season. JA seems to have all the lads motivated and in a good frame of mind and seeing off sydney for the season (arnie with his head in his hands) should warrant a contract extension alone.

Green and gold glory a boost for Roar

Great goal to sink the smurfs. Here’s hoping city draw on Easter Monday.

Heartbreak for Sydney as Roar strike late

Mooy is very good don’t get me wrong and the stats will back mooy as having had a better season but you did say ever to grace the a league and one would have to think about moments on which those trophies are gained or lost. Lay off to henrique, the corner to partaluu and the cross to bes for the headed goal come to mind and not only these pivotal moments but johnny warren medal seasons and joey marston medal performances. Broich was helping BRFC with eleventh hour victories beforw tim tebow made it fashionable. Can mooy deliver on the last day of the season with the plate on the line or gf day should they make it that far, im not convinced even despite his consistent form.

Has the balance of A-League power shifted to Melbourne City?

I dare say uncle junior the big problem with this kit is that the shirt has no green to it which would make it more aussie in appearance. Green socks aside because one would look like a right mug in full replica kit at the mall, pub or game for that matter. However a pair of dark green shorts pants should complete the look nicely and with white shoes would look rather good I reckon.

Socceroos and Matildas release their new jersey. Love it? Hate it?

Broich wishes he could score as many goals as mooy. In all other areas mooy couldn’t see the maestro in his dreams.

Has the balance of A-League power shifted to Melbourne City?

English Super League (Leauge) has multiple tiers with a salary cap. The problem would be if lower tiers had smaller salary caps because you couldn’t keep players during relegation (with top tier clauses in contracts now the epl clubs cant usually keep players when going down anyway) but as long as the ceiling is the same across the board its only the floor that changes.

This would mean the clubs willing or able to spend the most would get to the top tier quickly but couldn’t go on to buy that competitions trophy as such.

Not much JA could do after hingert got the red but the scoreline was reversed at lang park. Im confident anyone meeting BRFC in the finals is beatable away and a formality in Milton.

Nice touch buy the vic yuppies to boo JA too. Are there no heart fans who stuck around or do they just have short memories? I remember a time their coaching staff weren’t goven enough money to go looking through the salary cap regulations looking for loopholes.

No excuses on our part though we should have done better. Regardless still very happy with the season by the players, staff and management.

Highlights: City top A-League with 3-1 win over Roar

THOMAS BROICH More personal medals and awards then anyone else listed and as for having an impact on their teams success; Brisbane had no silverware in the cabinet before Broich arrived and now we’ve got more plates and seats than a sizzler. Happy coincidence maybe.

Who has been the A-League's best foreign player?

AR’s point about grounds seems fair enough not because people wouldn’t follow their clubs in a 2nd teir but would brfc for example running at 20% it’s current budget play at suncorp?

Would people get to many games paying $16 to park and $7 a beer on top of sfa reduction in ticket prices (because of the stadium rent) after the clubs best xi move on or at the proposed logan ground? Keeping in mind logan is as much sth brisbane as wollongong is sth sydney.

Sky fall in England is probably more about creating a desperation to win. Leeds annihilated Hull Kingston 50-0 in the challenge cup final this year but not every game needs to go down to the wire to be entertaining. Lizzie Jones (Widow of Danny Jones) sung ‘abide with me’ before that game and will perform live before all 3 wcc series games. Amazing lady and voice; league woman to boot. Might not be Tina Turner but you could do a lot worse.

NRL marketing is a myth in the code’s administrative madness

Unless there is a widespread problem in the misuse of flares that I’m unaware of then stricter regulations in regards to the sale and purchase of is not as all conquering as it may seem to be. If this is not a broader issue there is an inconvenience here to people in the community. It is possible to have a scenario in which the marine craft license holder would’ve opted to have someone purchase them on their behalf (18+ of course) that subsequently will forego buying them. If it was a novelty this person decided to go onto the water without because of poor their own preparation/inconvenience no worries but the sticking point is that a flare by design is a safety device and making such equipment less accessible to those who intend to use them for their purpose of manufacture in order to stop a few idiots using them for the purpose of entertainment is hardly a great look I would’ve thought.

It’s also not hard to imagine regions not buy the ocean would have a small number of marine craft licenses none the less. My point was that the apparent indifference gallop felt by the regulatory authority may not have equated to the people of said authority simply not caring.

At some point the bloke misusing the flare should be seen as being 100% responsible for being thick enough to take the flare(concealed at that) to a crowded public place.

I don’t condone their use at football matches and cannot see the appeal in terms of creating atmosphere. Im not against other measures being in place such as recording customer id and the quantity obtained at time of purchase. Individual numbers on each device to match against the sales record even would seem like better ideas.

I take it that your comment was directed at me and possibly a comment by Waz as well. My comment was in response to floyd stating the regulatory authority seemed indifferent to gallops request and while I must say I should of applied a little less smart a**e and got to my point I’ll try again.

Not going to champion any maritime authority because for all I know they were completely unwilling to address gallops concerns. However I made the comment so as to provide a point of difference assuming this mob may have had legitimate complications in legislating any proposed changes and should not be made a scapegoat based on david’s feelings after having put forward his proposal.

I pointed out that 18+ should and I assume would be mandatory. I assume while flares may pose some risk to the operator if they were unstable to an extent they could be replaced by a device less so they would have been. You would only ignite one upon sight or hearing a ship helicopter in close proximity I would imagine.

I am also working of the assumption professional mariners would be supplied flares used to work as a safety measure aboard their ship through their employers. This then brings me to the conclusion its amateur fisherman buying flares (in the capacity they are designed to be used) so its not hard to imagine a situation where someone is going to purchase on behalf of the people fishing (wife/someone going along to fish who does not hold a marine craft license).

Would it mean these people then choose to forego purchasing flares because of their own disorganization/poor planning? To countermeasure what I wander? While waz pointed out in a comment people have been seriously burned and I take his word for that id have guessed as much but in a crowd of hundreds or thousands is not an environment a flare is designed to be used in.

I could understand if kids were running round down the park with them, lads were lighting dozens in backyards or whatever but ive not heard of nor seen even a single instance someone has lit one for the sake of entertainment outside the realms of a football game. Unless I am unaware of widespread misuse the restriction of sale would increase the safety of people at football games by lads who bought them with no intention to use them according to their purpose of manufacture by increase the risk to amateur fishermen(I realize the scenario is speculative but not unimaginable I feel) who would have bought them (through spouse, family member or friend) who intended to use them only when and if they had to.

Perhaps they maritime authority couldn’t care less about assisting gallop or evaluating his proposal idk but blame shouldn’t be as black and white as saying they didn’t/couldn’t help the 18+ y/o lighting them up in etihad is a top bloke afterall.

Have you heard of flares being purchased for use as super sparklers while not reading the sports section though? The same concept as pocket/utility knives perhaps would prevent tighter regulations on the sale of flares. (18+ is required) While there is the potential for it to be used in a dangerous/inappropriate manner if used in it’s intended fashion it is quite handy to have and low risk to operate. I imagine purchase on someone else’s behalf is taken into account with both. ‘That one for your mate on your fishing trip then, and you can convince me that a pair of scissors and a Stanley wouldn’t be sufficient?’

The wsw would be hard done by to lose competition points over this. Not so much fans shooting themselves in the foot as it is a handful of mugs shooting the fans in the foot. Can’t blame Gallop or the FFA for taking a strong stand against inappropriate crowd behaviour but it would be better those creating the ‘mood lighting’ be held to account than the entire thousand or so ( and beyond that all members and fans of the club) who happen to follow the same team.

The media love this sort of thing when it occurs because sensational headlines sell advertising and ‘hooligans’ is top shelf in that regard. Self policing might help but how much attention should someone who has paid to watch the football on the field be expected to spend monitoring other people in the crowd wearing the same shirt as them?

The wanderers could consider making the groups (bays) of fans smaller if problematic individuals are too difficult to identify and use the free rows or columns of seats to place their own staff (security in essence) to assist the ground staff. Expensive maybe but should deduction of comp points not work what then I wonder?

A-League fans have shot themselves in the foot

City have been doing well (more so in the front third than in defence) but I have the feeling Brisbane can see things out from here even with their own problems on the field. I must say I do like the west v rest agenda at Perth where they’re trying to put as much of a home town/home state influence into the team as possible.

Forget the flares, this A-League season is all about flair

While that could be a possible violation by the retailer in regards to responsibility of sale it may also be that possession of a flare is not a crime until it is used (in a manner not intended by its manufacture) im unaware tbh never bought or even seen one which poses the question in what other situation would its ignition add atmosphere to an occasion?

Are these lads ripping them off at the sunday bbq, down the pub, birthdays, baby showers or is it only at a football match because they’re situation means they can gather attention to themselves. This being the purpose of manufacture after all.

Never the less I believe to lose competition points for the actions of fans is an excessive measure (somewhere between being against conditions of entry and the law) you would think a more reasonable outcome could be achieved.

FFA talking tough could be rough for Wanderers

Fines for a club or individual are one thing but competition points are something that will cause insecurity within a fan base and as brfc found out and the nix would realise this can have a significant effect on renewal of memberships
