It’s a shame because the Raiders are a good team. Papalii and Wighton the only 2 big names, but they are full of solid players like Whitehead, Rapana and CNK. I’d love to see them under a coach who can get the best out of them.

That scene was incredible, it would have made a brown dog weep. I just love the genuine emotion of the Paralympics. It’s so inspiring hearing the story of their journey, and how much they appreciate the efforts of those who have supported them along the way.

Agree Dibbs. We all understand that the MCG has been the traditional home of the game, and is an iconic venue, but the league will never be truly national until the showcase event is hosted around the country. Having the MCG contract run until 2059 is absurd.

Remember that Cleary’s first few Origin games were very underwhelming, and he is now the star of the show. Moses is unlikely to get much of a look in while Cleary stays fit but some players need the time and experience to develop.

NSW really missed Cleary’s kicking last night. With his footwork and strength, Wighton is a weapon close to the line but his kicking is pretty average. He botched his first 2, gifting QLD 7-tackle restarts and you just can’t do that in Origin. He is best used off the bench.

Everyone has an opinion on which sports should be in and out of the Olympics. The reality is that it will be largely determined by how much broadcasting revenue an event can generate. My take is that any sport for which the Olympics is not the pinnacle of competition should probably not be there. The case of Ben Simmons clearly demonstrates that NBA is more important to basketballers than the Olympic Games, so out it goes, along with golf, tennis, and soccer. Leave the limelight to the athletes who get no attention any other time.

Pretty harsh, Craig. I would hate to see events like diving and gymnastics cut based on such a narrow definition of sport. I draw the line at the point where the equipment is more important than the person. So for me, that rules out horseracing and car races as “sport”. Cycling is still in as it’s more about the rider than the bike.

I feel sorry for Newcastle, it would have been a good venue but on the upside, it’s added some interest to the dead rubber. QLD now have home ground advantage and NSW have the opportunity to gain a priceless bragging right.
