Hi Pymble
Like you I have been hanging out for Petaia to show up with all guns blazing but it hasn’t happened yet for me.
I realise that like a lot of Roarers we all want the saviour, the bright shiny thing who will save us from pain and humiliation of crushing defeat, and I was like that with Jordy.

But I have a question for you now after reading the Roar Gurus more and watching Quade.

Would you rather have power and speed(seems to be a national obsession) erratically used with an unsettled mindset or the gift of being in the right place at the right time. For me Petaia has the body but not the rugby brain yet, he still seems troubled to me.

Kellaway has turned up in support four times and got across the chalk.

He didn’t need speed, just positioning, which comes from between the ears, directing the power and speed he has, which for me Jordy hasn’t demonstrated consistently.

That can’t be taught, as Cooper showed.

Kerevi used to be all power and wrecking ball but not well rounded. Now look at how he imposed himself on the game.

Also it seemed that Jordy has gone missing in his 2 cameo’s off the bench, and unlike Marika hasn’t gone looking for work..me thinks confidence wise his is down.

Opinions please 🙂

Why Rennie will pull the trigger on O'Connor at 15

Yes.. I totally agree about the frontal cortex being slow to develop in guys..heck I’m a senior and it’s still developing..at last I’ve learnt how to use the washing machine, the vacuum and fold hospital corners 🙂

The Wrap: Quade Cooper finds the sweet spot to bring the Wallabies home

Yes Fardy/McMahon/Ben Mowen..
So many lost souls who had to go overseas to find themselves and their value..still got a soft spot for Scott Fardy and Sean. Didn’t see Skelton coming thru much but he’s done so well.

Jeff, your balanced and well informed diagnosis ‘milkshake’ always seems to bring “all the boys to the yard”, though it does seem that many of them are lactose, kicking, Hooper and losing intolerant.
Me, glad to see the Wallabies win too for the sake of the boys heads, the coach, and of course have the game be the winner.
Before the game I posted my wishlist for the contest:
1. Bomb the Boks-give them a taste of their own..we box kicked pretty well for territory and momentum I thought
2. Kick in behind their rushed defense..Quade did one or two kicks to keep em guessing
3. Play to the front of the lineout and secure ball..did well all night..only threw long once and lost that one
4. Kick into corners and find the grass..Nick White’s 50:20 and Quade’s cross field all did that and worked..(marika, Bank’s and Hodge’s aimless hoicks did not..please repeat what works)
5. Taniela running onto the ball in the 12 and short side channels..didn’t happen..he took the ball flat footed way too much I thought
6. Cut out a lot of the POD and out the back plays and play direct as they did when Marika was Red carded v France..and they did..hats off to Samu Kerevi
7. Ikatau or Hodgey in behind the kick reciever to kick long downfield and clear our red zone..got one big thumping long kick return boot past halfway..Yay Len

So very happy with all that. Better than Father’s Day socks and Xmas slippers
For next game:
1. More of same please..set up/score/convert/repeat
2. Tupou…please get involved more as a runner
3. On kick off takes, either eliminate that first pass to Swinton to set up for Box kick out of red zone..OR..shift the ball an extra 5-10 metres infield to the same pod, then either box or pass to Ikitau or Hodge for a booming kick clearance THAT FINDS TOUCH!

Don’t worry, I’m not this demanding of anyone else except myself..
Haters, remember Quade..”It’s just a football game..not life and death”

PS. Beautifully ironic that one of the advertising banners read something like:
“Play a different game”..And they did
