Thanks Cameron,
It’s great to read your story, and see how the Bingham Cup and the Diablos (which is an awesome name) came to be. You have definitely succeeded in giving some important context. Thanks for taking the time!
Why The Bingham Cup is important for straight men
“Why did it take you so long to realise that people, whatever their sexuality, are all the same?”.
Good question Olaf. I think it relates to the other quotes you pointed out. I was in a bit of a social bubble, where you think saying that stuff doesn’t matter. Honestly, if nothing had changed, I would probably still be the same, and influencing the next generation. I was lucky that someone was brave enough to challenge it, however, I bet there are a lot of football change rooms where it still goes on, and will keep going on.
Why The Bingham Cup is important for straight men
Great answer! I’ve been a huge saints fan for years (I got to see them play Bournemouth in League 1). They play good footy, and although they have lost some big names, they made some very astute purchases and have bought in the same amount of players at about 20m pounds profit. And they will find some more talented youngsters along the season, as they do…
Big money buys trophies, and it sickens me
Spot on Ash. I’m all up for a bit of controversy as well. A lot better than the sandman wasting 5 minutes just to say “vision inconclusive”, and a collective groan from the nation.
Time to holster the score review system
I think there are going to be more losses, Schneirderlin cracked it because he wants to go to Tottenham, and hasn’t returned to training. On the other hand, apparently they are after Hernández. Koeman can basically just play Football Manager. With all the players gone, I’ll be waiting by the phone if they need a fill in….

I think the Chile vs. Netherlands game is actually now more crucial, as it is now entirely possible that Spain’s fate will depend on this game as well.

The fact that, as you say, most Taswegians already have a team is exactly why they will never a new AFL team. It’s not because they are worried about a lack of support, however, it’s because the AFL would gain hardly any new supporters. They already dominate the market. It’s a bit like Safeway building a new supermarket in a town when the only supermarket is already a Safeway.
Can Tasmania sustain its own AFL team?
Speaking of the 12th man, remember the CD when they were trying out new commentators and Darrell Eastlake was bought in? That’s what the Channel 9 commentary team sounds like now!
Channel Nine force feed more noise - just let cricket speak for itself
Hey Brett, do you think Watson is the best option at no.3?
The Ashes: Third Test Day 1 Q&A from 12:30pm AEDT
Sorry Kurt, I dint mean he wouldn’t be playing at all, but he would be 33-34 years old in Qatar. He is definately one of the top choices though for at least the short-medium term.
Who is heir apparent to Lucas Neill's armband?
The best player from whoever the All Australians are put together to play against. Duh.
Should taggers have a role in the All-Australian team?
Yeah I agree, though I am biased. I just think they will get a lot of natural improvement as they are still quite a young squad. Hopefully they will be able to hold on to Shaw. Southampton have great record with their acadamy-Walcott, Bale, and Oxlade-Chamberlain being some more recent alumni. If only they could hold on to them…

Les B I think it is know shown that you may be either a genious, oracle, or jedi.
Australian teams need some mongrel back
I mostly agree with this article, though two areas we beg to differ. Firstly, I don’t mind the umpires chatting, but only when it’s needed, not giving out constant advice. I also think Major Payne was an ok movie.
Rules and umpires ruining the game
Not a bad format, very similar to the FA cup where they start at the bottom of the League pyramid and add teams at the competition progresses. Regionilising is also good, and as most states have State League divisions you could keep slipping those in as you progress. I’m not sure clubs would mind paying travel costs as long as it is not consistantly alot of money.
How an Australian FFA Cup should run
OK Yank Paul, firstly, do you think it is a good system at the moment, with a major drug investigation and issues with injury management, that I mentioned in the article? Should clubs have better or more creative doctors then other clubs? Or would you rather every club gets a dodgy doctor and then lasts as long as they can until ASADA pops up in their reception? I didnt mention anything about coaches,or players, or anyone else, but have you ever heard of the MLS soccer in America, where every club is owned by the League? Or the AFL media centre, where pretty soon, ALL AFL news will come from, despite club media teams? If your going to shoot it down, do it properly, not having a tantrum.
Club doctors out, league doctors in
Thompson is not being accused of taking injections though, Hird is. I could be completely wrong as well- it could fortify the playing group and provide some extra motivation. When does the Bombers internal inquiry come out?
Hird should not stand down at Essendon
Nice article (again) Dan, however perhaps Hird should stand down. Not because he is guilty, but if this new media storm starts to affect the players adversely, surely Hird would have to take a step back from coaching, even if it’s temporary? It’s not like Mark Thompson is rookie coach who couldn’t hold the reigns for a bit…
Hird should not stand down at Essendon
I dont quite agree with this article. I think he was just showing respect to the supporters that launched him onto the world stage. Gareth Bale did the same thing when he scored against Southampton this year. MV Daves link shows that there is obviously still alot of respect between Ronaldo and the Red Devil fans.
Ronaldo’s misguided loyalty makes Madrid the real losers
Tottenham has a feeder club agreement with Real Madrid, so they will get the first crack at him.
Gareth Bale is the next big thing
Gerard Whateley pointed out on the Offsiders last sunday that the closer people are to the report, and the more information they are privy to, the more alarmed they are. I think PED’s will be a back issue compared to activities such as illegal betting practices and match fixing, and what criminal identities are involved.
Was ACC drug report our darkest day, or just handy spin?
Thanks for the (mostly) constructive responses Roarers, I must admit I was slightly worried in submitting this article that I would come across as someone who was just having a go at Ellyse Perry and women’s sport, and just get alot of haters who didnt really get the point, but there has been some very good points made. While writing the piece, I had a bit of a chicken and egg scenario in my head- Do amatuer and semi pro athletes all act like profesionals and increase their skills until they get paid for, or do they wait until they get paid like profesionals to act like pros? It is idealogically easy but in real life terms a very difficult situation.
Should Ellyse Perry continue playing two sports?
Thanks for your really helpfuland constructive comment BBS, next time I’ll put in more pictures.
