Scoring at a snail’s pace: Why Australia's pedestrian top four is about to get even slower
On statistics alone, Australia's top four is set to score at a slower rate than we are used to - so do we need to find a Warner 2.0?

It could be argued that many games of rugby league hinge on just a few key moments: a dropped ball with the line wide open, a field goal that hits the crossbar (I’m talking to you Benny Elias), or according to most fans, a refereeing decision or two, or three.

I think they will be a bit hit and miss for a while until these new structures get fully imbedded.
How Dom Young and Justin Holbrook have turned the Roosters inside out - and helped Tedesco get back to his best
I’m pretty sure the Panthers centres will be flying in to ‘accidentally’ belt the Roosters centres early. It’s worked for the past two weeks. If I was Robinson, I’d definitely have a centre on the bench this week.
How Dom Young and Justin Holbrook have turned the Roosters inside out - and helped Tedesco get back to his best
Great article, I love getting a greater understanding of the tactics that underpin what we think of as a simple game. Re Holbrook, I’m glad he’s doing well. He came across as one of the nice guys in our sport. Some are just better suited to the assistant role where they can concentrate on one or two areas and don’t have to deal with the whole operation.

He has signed documents apparently to support these allegations. Would you have him bury them? It is standard sports administration tactics after all to deny and bury as long as the money keeps rolling in.

Plus Jim Craig played plenty in the QLD leagues. Also the early guys played City Cup, plus a lot more rep tour games. In QLD the best played Bulimba Cup as well
The NRL's 300-game club is hard to get into, but those who have made it definitely deserve the accolades
I’m a little bitter here about the closure of Victoria Park golf course. They did it promising public free space, even though like Roma Street parkland I suspect we will see a ring of units on the outside soon enough. But if they resume that course and green space to build a fourth major stadium, to me that removes Brisbane’s last opportunity to have significant green space near the CBD.
Suncorp Stadium could be knocked down as Brisbane's Olympic fiasco takes another twist
Yes, every now and then I’d like to see him overcall the play and just absolute motor on to a pass one or two off the ruck. He is very hard to handle at full pelt, as the amount of tries he used to score from 10 metres out can attest to. If he did that with a quick play the ball and say Wighton followed up at pace, suddenly the Rabbits are on the front foot, Cook has room, Walker has time and away you go.
Latrell's not walking the walk after talking the talk: Souths should be worried after star goes missing against Roosters
The Gabba is just not a great option. It is not fit for purpose, remembering that you have to also hold a para-olympics, there is not any space for a warm up track or sufficient space to stage the athletes, even after relocating a 100 year old school, so they were putting the warm up track and staging area over near the Pineapple Hotel. but because the Pineapple is heritage listed, they were going to have to resume more homes around the park.
And then the athletes warm up and then get bussed to the Gabba!
There is no law that says the Olympic stadium must be in the inner city. Sydney built Homebush out in the boondocks. that is where the space is, to make the builds cheaper.

Go talk to Wally Lewis about his problems now. Go talk to many of the old players who can barely function. The head is different. Any contact to the head should be dealt with harshly, even if it’s an accident. Suddenly there will be less accidents

Plus the Dragons’ hooker Liddke was wobbly twice and was passed.
'If the NRL are serious about concussions, where does this sit?' Kevvie fires up after May escapes ban for Walsh's fracture
Well Walsh has a facial fracture and will be out long term. Any contact to the head has to be taken seriously. Accident can’t be an excuse anymore. If it’s an accident the ‘bad luck’ should happen to the perpetrator not just to the victim.
NRL consistently inconsistent when it comes to punishments for head-high contact
You could add the atmosphere this week at Dolphin Oval to that list, although Suncorp is a great place to watch football.
I think the old Brisbane Rugby league comp had the right mix. They played at all their suburban grounds, but each week the match of the round was played at Lang Park (Suncorp) and teams and supporters would make the track to the spiritual home of the game.

Jack Bostock for the Dolphins in career game number 6 had two try assists and is really looking the goods. That was a stellar performance given they lost Nikorima early, leaving Katoa to run the show with O’Donoghue filling in.
This was the first time I remember all the rookies stepping up like that. Max Plath is the type of player Bennett loves.
And Josh Kerr is so Redcliffe he should be fishing off the Jetty.
NRL Round 2 Talking Points: Robberies in the north and south, high shots are back and some good losers
Well after a 38-0 result the Dolphins race up to the heady heights of one place above the team they flogged and one below the team whose results read R1 Awful R2 bye. Sigh.
