Really? I can understand Adelaide possibly but Richmond and Hawthorn? I was suspecting Richmond to drop off but after they’ve picked up GWS Giants Jacob Hopper and Tim Taranto, I think they shouldn’t drop off too much.
And Hawthorn’s a really interesting one, the Hawks have lost a great deal of experience having lost 11 experienced players through delistings, trades and retirements so the Hawks might struggle in the short term with a young side but with time and more game time and experience into the younger players, they should be alright.

Back to the future: Clarkson gets band back together in hopes of recreating success

Thanks for your comment. Souttar was really solid down back against Tunisia. And yeah hopefully Tilio gets a run against Denmark.

How the Socceroos can beat Tunisia

Thanks Grem, luckily the boys were able to get the job done. How do you think we’ll go against Denmark?

How the Socceroos can beat Tunisia

Thanks Rocky. I guess we were both right. They needed that “never say die attitude” to defend their hearts out after scoring their only goal against Tunisia. And you’re right they obviously needed to score more goals than Tunisia, luckily one was enough. Hopefully they can continue their winning ways against Denmark and progress through to the round of 16. Thoughts?

Thanks for your comment George. That’s an interesting way of looking at things. So you don’t think people can learn from mistakes and continue to improve and be successful? While Ratten is returning to work with Clarkson, he is working in a different club environment.

Thanks for your comment Don but that’s a bit harsh don’t you think? They might just be on the rise in the near future.

Thanks for your comment Matt. I saw comments from some of the North midfielders who said that he was having an immediate impact.

Back to the future: Clarkson gets band back together in hopes of recreating success

Thanks Oirish, I agree. Shiels is a triple premiership player, consistent, reliable and as you mentioned often sacrificing his own game for the betterment of the team.

Thanks for your comment Ditto. Yeah, possibly fair enough. Shiels is very reliable, consistent and a triple-premiership player. Would you agree with that?

It’s interesting, you might be onto something there but I hope not as I think the Matildas are a great side and we should support them. Hopefully the poor ratings just means people were gathered together in large social gatherings watching it together rather than alone at home. I think now that Covid isolation rules have been relaxed, it could be a reason why ratings have dropped from previous years.

Matildas show they’ve got what it takes to match the best in the world

Thanks for your comment Chris, appreciate it. Yeah, you’re right having depth in the squad is always important to cover missing players. It was impressive how we were able to cover the absence of Alanna Kennedy and Aivi Luik and it gave an opportunity to others to show they can fill that void.

Thanks for your comment Pete. It’s an interesting perspective. I guess Lyon’s bringing back players who are passionate about St Kilda who played for him and know the way he operates. Time will tell whether this ‘back to the future’ approach is going to work or as you suggest it won’t succeed.

Saints go back to the future, but will 'Ross the Boss' lead them to that elusive premiership?

Interesting take you got there.

Saints go back to the future, but will 'Ross the Boss' lead them to that elusive premiership?

Yeah it’s an interesting take Andrew.

Saints go back to the future, but will 'Ross the Boss' lead them to that elusive premiership?

Thanks for your comment Andrew. That’s a good point. I guess they’ll be hoping this doesn’t crash and burn and they are vindicated by their decision making hey?

Thanks for your comment Alchemist. Well I guess time will tell hey?

Saints go back to the future, but will 'Ross the Boss' lead them to that elusive premiership?

Thanks for your comment. I understand what you’re saying and it’s a fair point. I guess it can be looked at both ways. I did refer to the drawn Grand Final earlier in my piece.

Saints go back to the future, but will 'Ross the Boss' lead them to that elusive premiership?

Thanks Luke, I agree, that’s what I was trying to say when I said “after tenure that saw them reach three grand finals, including a famous draw with Collingwood in 2010.” And when I referred to Lyon coaching sides to four grand finals, I was including the 2013 Fremantle side he coached to a Grand Final against Hawthorn.

Fair point Pete

Fair point there mate, I guess drawing a Grand Final is a pretty good achievement… just no chocolates unfortunately.

Thanks Simoc, I guess time will tell hey?
I did see that Brad Scott has laid down the rules at the Bombers to ensure the players come ready for pre-season so it’ll be interesting to see how the Bombers go next year.

Thanks for your comment Cat.

Saints go back to the future, but will 'Ross the Boss' lead them to that elusive premiership?

Thanks for your comment Gyfox. Lol, Canberra Kangaroos does have a nice ring to it, but from all reports the club are doing well off-field so as long as they can turn their on-field fortunes around, don’t think they’ll be going anywhere.

Thanks for your comment Roger, that’s an interesting take lol.

Thanks for your comments James and G, interesting points raised. It’ll be interesting to see how much they overhaul the list.
