Baccus, Rowles net first goals as Socceroos cruise past Lebanon but Arnie sweats on injuries
His three-year contract extension hasn’t even kicked in yet. If they fire him this season Lederer will be on the hook for the entire salary while paying another coach, or coaches, in the meantime.
Wanderers humiliated, dark times on the terraces, is premiership now two-horse race?
It’s good news for the national team. Midfield has been a relative strengh for the Socceroos in recent times but I don’t think anyone in the engine room had a particularly good Asian Cup. Irvine really struggled.
Wanderers humiliated, dark times on the terraces, is premiership now two-horse race?
There’s ups and downs at every club. After many seasons out of the finals, Rudan, both through his man management and recruitment, has Wanderers competitive again. The identity is pride in the club, which was missing for far too long.
Wanderers humiliated, dark times on the terraces, is premiership now two-horse race?
That’s commendable, and as I said Waz’s passion always comes through. The incessant negativity does start to grate though, when it’s the same rhetoric on every article.
Rudan tight-lipped after controversial draw, Roar's revenge, Victory streak ends at 15
Yep. You can’t make a comparison with the top divisions in Europe – a lot of those clubs are just happy to be there, plus there’s many more meaningful games that will affect European qualification etc. The finals series is the greatest equaliser we have that gives fans of the majority of teams hope till late in the season.
Rudan tight-lipped after controversial draw, Roar's revenge, Victory streak ends at 15
Would you honestly describe most of your rants as ‘constructive’? Your passion for the league is clear to see but if you just came back from the ledge on occasion, your contributions would be much more valuable.
Rudan tight-lipped after controversial draw, Roar's revenge, Victory streak ends at 15
Possibly. I don’t think he came up with this theory spontaneously, feels like it’s been building for a while.

Unsurprisingly Football Australia have upheld Wood’s red card.

It’s not close now. At its apex it was approaching that level. The Grand Finals between the two have been huge occasions.

Mining and Newcastle didn’t work out too well last time. It’s been so long since the Jets had an owner who invested properly in the club. I think it’s years since they’ve had an owner, period.
Glory snap 15-month winless run, Grim times for APL as redundancies hit
I’d argue he’s talented enough, though he is limited in being a fairly prototypical old school 9. He seems comfortable in the A-League and is already the leading scorer. He’ll hit 200 goals if he stays.
Add some Socceroos caps to the mix, and it’s an impressive career.
Glory snap 15-month winless run, Grim times for APL as redundancies hit
That’s an interesting point about how staying in Australia is perceived. Maclaren’s had a few chances overseas but seems to prefer being the big fish in the small pond that is the A-League.

Someone made the comment to me that Burgess is still seen as a kid – I was surprised to discover that he’s 29 years old. Very talented guy but if he’s going to make another go of it in a bigger league, the clock is ticking.

Just a bizarre signing in hindsight. So strange for Corica to poach him then never give him a proper opportunity to succeed.
Unite Round's baby steps, Nix pip Perth in thriller, Wanderers make statement
It was over as a contest after the third Adelaide goal, but the goals kept flying in after that so I think it’s unfair to call it a boring match.

That’s annoying. Apart from the fuzzy resolution I haven’t had any issues after eight rounds.

I’m not sure about his mental state, but he is playing an immature game on the pitch. In that sense he does need to grow up.
Bruno bags four, Irankunda can't hide emotions as Reds slip again, Western in crisis
Thanks mate, I did pop in one line about Redders down the bottom but it didn’t seem a big talking point in the context of everything else happening. Personally, I think he got what he deserved under the rules, but you bring up an interesting point.

The Cove have really been bringing the atmosphere this season.

Well, Townsville never supported Fury like Newcastle have (at times) with the Jets. In a limited sample size, admittedly. Typically cities don’t get second chances with pro teams after just 10 years.
Sydney Derby shows what A-League can be, Foley handed Auckland licence, City in trouble?
Look, you’re not wrong. I think we’re basically on the same page – we already had a high concentration of teams from two states, we increased that concentration, and it’s not gone well.
The Jets, despite their seemingly never-ending financial problems, still have a lot of potential. It’s a sports town that gets behind the team when they’re not flopping around outside the finals.

It did look reasonably populated on the sunny side, too. When I was at Campbelltown earlier this season it was not a big crowd by any means but you could tell, the fans were engaged.
