Glenn Maxwell is not the solution for Australia’s Test batting woes
Drop Head and keep Labuschagne? His part time leggies wont play a part in Aus, 3 test innings ago Travis batted for almost 2 sessions for that 72 which was vital in that draw, he’s also in better form than Marnus. Mitch Marsh and Marnus out for me
Glenn Maxwell is not the solution for Australia’s Test batting woes
Want more shield form yet you would pick a bloke who has a career average of 33 across 10 years of first class cricket and has averaged less than 27 over the last 2 seasons?
Glenn Maxwell is not the solution for Australia’s Test batting woes
We have to stop looking to the next generation and focus on the generation we are currently in. Their time will come.
Glenn Maxwell is not the solution for Australia’s Test batting woes
Hes not a top order player though. He bats at 4 normally, yet the selectors push him to open, knocked an 87 before being given out in a controversial LBW in the latest shield round. He’s a quality bat.

I know they arent the same style of player, simply responding to you saying that they should drop Finch

Cummins and Starc and bad, Hazlewood has a tendency to drop some sitters though
Is Australian cricket really in bad shape?
Cooper would do terrible. Career average of 33 mate, barely got picked for SA at all this season. He goes missing for seasons at a time, his own state coach even said so, his temperament is simply not there.
Sheffield Shield stars deserve Test call ups
Im fine with Wade being selected, especially ahead of Lehmann, even though Im an SA supporter, I just do not think he should be called a bowling option.
Sheffield Shield stars deserve Test call ups
Ill just remind people that Maxwell has only scored 1 shield century since the 2013/2014 season .
Glenn Maxwell is not the solution for Australia’s Test batting woes
That double century he made last year was his only century since the 2013/14 season. No dominance what so ever, at least other players have had a season or 2 of dominance in that time.

Marcus Harris played a whole season last year and averaged 41, good start to this season too, more deserved spot than Maxwell or Renshaw
Glenn Maxwell is not the solution for Australia’s Test batting woes
No, It means his 278 (his only ton) saves his season completely. If you change his 278 into just 100 runs (I know that its stupid to take away runs he scored anyway, but bear with me) then he averaged 37 and we get a see of how his season actually panned out.
Glenn Maxwell is not the solution for Australia’s Test batting woes
A couple of issues, 1. You are seriously saying that Wade is a medium pace option, he’s as much a medium pace option as Jake Lehmann is an offspinner, yes they technically can both do those things, the question is if they are any good. No. they are not. 2. You’re saying that Travis Head should be dropped after 1 bad match, it being his second test ever, even in the test that people say he failed in he still had the 3rd highest Aussie score. He just hit an 87 and was unlucky to be given out. Give him the first 2 tests and then if he doesn’t perform drop him. Im fine with Renshaw being left out, not in form, but I think it’s dangerous to have Doolan in the side, his career average of 33 isn’t exactly promising.
Sheffield Shield stars deserve Test call ups
Another 50 for Marcus Harris aswell right now, I agree, Pretty much the only player along with Wade that has shown substance and raised his hand.
Glenn Maxwell is not the solution for Australia’s Test batting woes
Finally, someone talking sense. Renshaw is averaging 23 with the bat this season, passing 50 once in his 6 digs. Meanwhile we have an opener in Harris who averages 98 and one in Doolan who averages 55.
Glenn Maxwell is not the solution for Australia’s Test batting woes
Well its great that Maxwell is making shield tons somehow because they sure aren’t coming off the bat. 7 tons in 7 years isn’t exactly dominating the domestic scene.

2-1 for India in the T20’s for me. Australia will run off with one thanks to a 90 odd from Finch, Carey or Stoinis
Indian spin will smother Aussies in T20Is
Thanks for the kind words Byron! Yeah I’ve emailed them too and supposedly “they are sorting things out”, this was in September. 2 months and 2 series later no update.

Please oh please no Jason Sangha talk. Way too early for him to be picked. He’s only played 2 first class matches and averages 35.
Glenn Maxwell is not the solution for Australia’s Test batting woes
Hold your horses mate, Dropping a player who has 3 ODI’s tons this year and 1 T20 ton, while keeping someone who hasn’t scored an ODI century since 2015 is the definition of insane. To make it clearer, In the last 2 years Finch has scored more ODI 100’s than Glenn Maxwell has scored 50’s, Finch has 4 hundreds, whereas Maxwell has 3 fifties, this is with Finch playing 1 less game also.
One test ago Head scored a brilliant 72 which was instrumental in drawing that test in the UAE, him and Khawaja batted out the majority of 2 sessions and put on over 130 runs. That sounds pretty solid mate.
Glenn Maxwell is not the solution for Australia’s Test batting woes
1 century and 3 fifties in 15 innings is almost the definition of unreliable.
Glenn Maxwell is not the solution for Australia’s Test batting woes
Travis Head is a batsmen who bowls part time offies to make up overs. Definately not an allrounder.
