When I was 10 years old, my dad crushed my dreams by telling me I'd never play netball for Australia. So now I write about it, from the comfort of the sidelines.

Trans-Tasman Netball League Grand Final: State of (sort of) Origin
Thanks Josh – I love Gretel Tippett, I think she’s brought heaps to the game and love the layups. I’m still trying to figure out how to slip them into my game.
I had some Tippett in my last article (http://www.theroar.com.au/2015/06/15/a-hilarious-wrap-up-of-the-trans-tasman-netball-league-semi-finals/) so I thought it was time to give some other players some love.
And give her time – I think she has the potential to become the best at sport in her family!!

Interesting points about Morris. I take your point, but for me, the biggest issue was that it didn’t feel like the club I’d grown up supporting anymore. It seemed like it was all being built around players like Marshall and Dugan who had just been snapped up without too much thought and we were losing club legends because of it.
I’m happy with the success, but it’s slightly annoying that it’s given Doust some breathing room, when I think his role needs to be looked at pretty seriously.
The St George Illawarra rebuild is in full swing
Love it Bozza. That made my morning.
A (hilarious) wrap-up of the Trans-Tasman Netball League semi finals
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks Vixen! It’s great to see the responses people have on social media and shows people are keen for more diverse netball coverage and not just straight match reports.
Trans-Tasman netball league finals Week 2: The madness continues
When Ross Noble floated the idea of ‘Ray Martin Fights a Pig’ I thought that was the very pinnacle of television segments I would pay good money to watch. But that has been topped by ‘Let Pensioners Bite James Brayshaw’. Bravo sir.
It's The Footy Show: less talk, more fractures
Oh and the Swifts only had to travel from Sydney up to Brisbane, as they had the elimination final at home (they played in Perth the previous week). But it was still a very short amount of time and very tough to play two finals in less than 48 hours.
Trans-Tasman netball league finals Week 2: The madness continues
Hi Dave, thanks for your comment! I agree, it was pretty poor scheduling and very tough for the Swifts. Looking forward to seeing the teams when they’re all fresh this weekend. I think we’re in for a Firebirds v Swifts Grand Final, but I’m never willing to write the Magic off – they always seem to have something up their sleeve!
I think the shoulder charge by Tippett was pretty poor, but I haven’t seen any other evidence of dirty play by her, so I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt for now and assuming it was just a rush of blood to the head.
Looking forward to a great Sunday of netball!!

Typically hilarious article Ben.
My Dad similarly prepared me to lower my expectations by telling me I’d never play netball for Australia. When I was 10 years old. In front of the whole club while making a speech about my team at netball presentation.
On the upside, I’ve never been disappointed since.
Why Test cricket is the best, and worst, game
I can take that point for cricket, but is Australian rugby healthy enough to impose those restrictions? Only time will tell I suppose.
Cut coaches some slack: it's a hell of a job
Great article, as usual. My own coaching takes place a fair bit lower in the coaching world than Deans and Arthur, but I understand their frustrations. You can drill something into players thousands of times at training only to see them walk out on the field and do the complete opposite in the heat of the moment.
I’ve found the comments about the nationalities of the sacked coaches quite disturbing – even from people I really respect, such as Peter FitzSimons on Mickey Arthur. And I think Jake White would’ve been a better Wallabies coach, but it seems people are sick of foreigners.
Cut coaches some slack: it's a hell of a job
Point taken, but I think they might have kicked that habit since they last played the TBirds. We’ll see on Sunday I guess!
Guide to the Netball Championship grand final
Can they do it one more time, or will all the travel have taken too much out of them?
Guide to the Netball Championship grand final
Agree Jason – they seemed to do it tough with the close finishes earlier in the season, but they managed to fight off a Vixens comeback on Sunday, so perhaps they’ve put that behind them now?
Guide to the Netball Championship grand final
Agreed Kim! I tried to keep my bias out of it though 😉
