Barnes also got that last scrum wrong – Faff didn’t feed the scrum when it was strong and stable – he delayed which is against the rules and that was a penalty – but Barnes just stood there… In the Ireland All Black game at 19 phases Savea also won a turnover but again Barnes just stood there…

Most comments are now saying if the TMO can come in and interfere after 5 phases (when it should only be 2) how come he didn’t also rule that Barnes’s penalty against Savea to be incorrect and reverse it.

Barnes also effectively screwed up in 2007 by freezing in that French-AB game. I wonder if he just freezes at the highest level – some refs stay calm others can’t cope. Owens always seemed to stay clam no matter what…Raynal was pretty calm as well except when Foley piss*ed him off..

Not just NZ having problems – so many neutrals stopped watching the final due to the officiating – even at the ground the crowd were booing the officials long and hard and they were majority French

Can’t see Fozzie fitting into an Oz coach role…hes too nice a guy… ???? For recent Oz coaches being a psychopath or narcissist is the main criteria ????
Second problem is that top AB coaches are reluctant to coach against the ABs – the ties and loyalty are too strong….

The one when TMO Foley came in and said that Frizzell had NOT targeted a leg – means it was only an accident and therefore not a penalty or a yellow card. Logic seemed to fly out the window for that one..Barnes really screwed that up…

You can’t blame Barnes for this fiasco – its on WR’s heads regards the red cards/yellow cards inconsistency and also the new interference by the TMOs – who can’t even follow their own protocols about when they should and can intervene. Barnesy must be ruling his big mistakes in that game though..esp the Savea penalty he admitted was wrong and should have been reversed. Love to have seen Owens stay on though – there’s been no one at his level since he retired. PS There is a funny meme circulating with the letters “TMO” as winner on the Cup ????

A great lesson though to WR regards keeping 15 vs 15 and making the game flow and highlighting the disaster of the TMOs compared to the better league system – just a shame this hasn’t been sorted earlier.
