Spot on here The Barry. You don’t have to do extras. You also don’t have to be picked for the team next week, and you don’t have to be offered a contract.

Please provide these statistics you have mentioned?

They were good back then. They won the comp remember?

Roosters' 2025 troubles mount as premiership-winner Keary announces shock retirement

The timing of this retirement turns out quite well for succession planning at the Chooks. Keary was signed on for another year, however, has called it quits 12 months early. With Walker coming of age and recent stellar performances, it’s clear that this is Walker’s team moving forward. That being said, Keary is still an elite level half. Chooks will be going to market with bags of cash after departing Manu, Keary, Tupou and JWH.
I expect Walker to be given a large deal by the end of the year and Robbo will be given Nick’s credit card to go shopping for a strike centre potentially a gun 5/8. Exciting times at Bondi.

One thing we know for sure is this club doesn’t do rebuilds. They go out and get what they want.

Very sharp between the ears, for leaving souths 😛

How far are we going to take this here?

Late to training traditionally means you do extras. Can it be seen as punishment? absolutely. But how else do you drive standards and maintain fitness at the highest level? In a workplace, discipline may ensue for tardiness. Just not physical forms. I have seen Apprentices have to spend a day on a shovel for being late. That could be seen as a physical form of discipline, but it is also accepted in that industry. If you work in an office, and are late to work, I suppose some sort of counselling and performance management may occur. But your job is not a physically demanding one.

Suppose a team gets flogged on the weekend and their defence was a big reason. Monday morning coach says we are doing a contact session focussing on defence when fatigued. Could that also be seen as punishment?

I think Mr. Topine needs to find another vocation as it seems he may not be best suitied as a professional athlete.

Cheese and Watson, a great combination

I think it’s more important to have two props in origin rather than two ball playing locks.

What do we achieve by having Yeo play prop?

Halves can cop some of the blame, but without a dominant forward pack not even Joey can get you out of trouble. Jacko Hastings needs to dig into the line more for starters, and stop engaging in the grubby, niggly stuff. These props really need to knock down the front door.

How Knights must change approach with KP gone - or find themselves back where they were when Joey retired

It’s an easy trap to fall into, and now its exposed them in a big way. Their roster would be perfect with a quality half, unfortunately they don’t have that luxury hence their reliance on KP.

Nick Cave and his mates just love their footy
😂

Not comparing Newcastle to Penrith, just using them as an example. They are the benchmark of the competition, and they don’t rely on one single player. Easier said than done, but every man in the Penrith squad knows their role. Newcastle used to have an element of toughness about them, a non-assuming style of grit that was their identity. I don’t see that anymore.

I don’t think he’s that guy tbh

Interesting take, I thought Joey was younger but I’m not so sure 28 will be too old.
Suaalii has played more Rugby than he has League so I’m predicting a smooth transition for him.
Also, I get the sense there’s a bit of “us vs them” when it comes to NZ rugby. Like the Union boys almost down want to see a Kiwi League star successfully switch codes. Correct me if I’m wrong, but whenever a high profile Aussie league player made the switch there was more excitment rather than bashing their hopes due to age or motivation. Also how old was Koroibete when he made the move?

Hansen's done Joey Manu no favours comparing him to SBW. He'll be more like RTS - and Foz is the reason why

Is there anything more Rugba League than Hetherington wanting to crack a chirpy little 9 in the tunnel? The greatest game of all!

Hamish, I’ll have to agree, comparing Manu to SBW is a bit ridiculous, however I see Manu’s transition being more akin to Israel Folau over RTS. Israel had a stint in AFL before making a successful transition to Rugby, where he had an incredible impact on the world stage. Comparing the two athletes, size strength and speed alike. Israel was more of an aerial specialist, but Joey is no slouch in the air. Joey has more ball playing ability than Roger and Izzy and has shown his kicking game during a stint at 5/8 for the roosters. Hard to tell where he would fit in the 15-man backline, he could easily fit in the 12-15 jersey numbers. Depends on the needs at Toyota.

I’d like to see that article, I’ll try and search for it. I’m only new here.

Robinson's custodian conundrum: Would Roosters be better off with Manu at fullback?

Agreed mate, should be less ref bashing at the highest level. Can’t tell parents to stop screaming at the refs and then flick the footy on and the coach is doing it on national TV!

Robinson's custodian conundrum: Would Roosters be better off with Manu at fullback?

You’re right, not laying all the blame on Teddy. He reminded us in Vegas how good he can be. We have top quality wingers at the chooks, I just think his size, speed and elusive qualities would potentially suit centre, and unlock Joey’s potential at FB.

Robinson's custodian conundrum: Would Roosters be better off with Manu at fullback?

Money is everything. TV rights is what makes the NRL what it is. No way ABC can afford this product.

'Attitude and loyalty surpass strength and speed': The Blues need to 'out-Queensland' the Maroons to have Origin success

After Joey’s recent announcement it is very short term I agree. If they pulled this move sooner it could’ve kept both at the club.

Robinson's custodian conundrum: Would Roosters be better off with Manu at fullback?

Concussions are a problem. Roosters seem to have alot of those issues, I heard the chooks training sessions are full blast, and very contact heavy. I wonder if this is part of it? Boyd, Jake retired prematurely and now Keary, walker and Teddy with question marks.

Robinson's custodian conundrum: Would Roosters be better off with Manu at fullback?

Let’s keep it positive. Robbo has achieved more in his short career than most life long coaches. Rigours of coaching would be the most stressful job in rugby league. He seems out of answers at the moment and that frustration shows in the press conferences.

Rocky just doesnt get origin 😁
