I was wondering that myself but there is reports of big money everywhere so I hope it comes to fruition, then they can start an indigenous Rugby academy.

The Wrap: Suncorp buzzes as Super Rugby final delivers three winners

I’m still a member of my Rugby Club but I don’t get to training because my son doesn’t play Rugby anymore. But that is good if they came out here and I can’t fault them for that.
Although I really wish they did more work in indigenous communities like the Panthers and Bulldogs do.

The Wrap: Suncorp buzzes as Super Rugby final delivers three winners

That was out in Orange Jez, hardly just up the road.
And the geniuses did it on the same weekend that the Panthers were in town, so kids in Orange had to choose between seeing the Tahs or going to Bathurst for the NRL. Why are they so Stupid?

Great comment Sally, I really hope Rugby Australia finds a plan to help retain this countries great Indigenous talent, both boys and girls. I have wrote to NSW Rugby several times about trying to help some of the gun aboriginal kids in the missions out here but they never respond, then the NRL just come out and sign them up.

I respectfully disagree Mary, I went to the NRL game out Here at Bathurst on the weekend and it was jam packed and the atmosphere was amazing. Even the town all day was buzzing- the sports store sold out of jerseys and the newsagents ran out of paper. Full stadiums are fantastic, we used to go to Sydney once a year to watch the Waratahs but they stopped caring about crowds and there is no atmosphere at their games so now I may take the kids to see an NRL game, probably Souths because my son is obsessed with Latrell and Cody, all the indigenous kids are out here.

Why are we so obsessed with crowds in rugby league?

Are Football writers on the Roar capable of defending the game without attacking the NRL?
I’m not a huge fan of the NRL but this week in Bathurst they have away dozens of tickets to the Penrith game to Aboriginal families who couldn’t afford to go, so maybe they aren’t as bad as you make out?
All you have to say is that millions play the game each week incident free not go after another code.

What does Ray Hadley have against football and why didn’t James Johnson ask him?

I’m not from Sydney and I don’t live there but I will say that this conference system makes the draw simpler for everyone.
If they can make more money by creating two broadcast deals it could make more money for all the club’s.
Yes it does heavily favour Sydney clubs but ATM some of the Sydney clubs bring tremendous value and resources to the comp. The recent game out here by the Panthers was a fantastic day at great expense, and the work the Bulldogs do in the missions out here is tremendous. I’m not sure that this conference system is the answer but maybe the club’s that add value to the competition deserve a better draw?

My club's not from Sydney: Sell me on NRL conferences

I really hope these fantastic players cut out the rubbish, they are such great role models for young indigenous kids. My son and all his friends are Souths supporters even though the Panthers are very active here in Bathurst and I’m pretty certain it’s because they are such vocal and talented Aboriginal players.
Hope they play really well at Origin and represent our people.

Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker need to clean up their games

He says he couldn’t watch it, because pubs and clubs in areas outside of the city don’t show the games.

The Wrap: Rugby’s devil is in the detail

A lot of people out this way like to watch Sport at the pub or club Agent.

The Wrap: Rugby’s devil is in the detail

Her i was thinking Kiwis liked us country boys?

The NRL should have avoided this HIA Storm

It was on Free to air so you could have watched it in the Club. Although most bar servers will not put it on, well out here they do not anyway.
I was flicking between the Tahs and the NRL at home.

The Wrap: Rugby’s devil is in the detail

fair point, I will rephrase. You think Rugby is far far superior than League in this issue.
when in my opinion out here they are not informing parents and kids (particularly in my indigenous community) of the risks correctly, when League is at least trying to.

The NRL should have avoided this HIA Storm

Plus the Dogs had a player SENT OFF in the game on the weekend, NRL officials are starting to take contact with the head seriously and i am guessing it is a directive from the top. Our local competition had 3 send offs for high shots on the weekend so the message is slowly trickling down Geoff. Also NSWRL sent a medical expert out to Bathurst to talk to all the coaches and parents about concussion protocols where as our local Rugby club gave us a huge document that no one could understand with no ne to explain it. So i know you think that Rugby is perfect on this issue, out here in Western NSW League is streets ahead.

The NRL should have avoided this HIA Storm

Mike there is more to NSW RL than just Sydney. Come out to the Central West and see how many new Women’s teams are popping up, particularly in Aboriginal communities like mine. Some serious talent out here and the NRL are out here scouting all the time. I wouldn’t worry too much about the amount of talent, our Deadly girls have it covered.

I want more for the NRLW in 2021

Bathurst doesn’t have the economy or the population to support any professional team in any code unfortunately.
It’s nice to get fixtures every now and then but we aren’t the market.
I’m surprised that a league haven’t looked at Canberra though.

Amazing A-League must bring fans back into stadiums

We do have Football out in Bathurst too you know?
My daughter even plays it.
So I can comment on whatever I want Lion, or should us people just be quiet over here?

Amazing A-League must bring fans back into stadiums

Great point Terry, if you don’t want to be Compared to League don’t play in the same Stadium.
I’ve been to Suncorp 3 times and it’s always great and it’s so close to the city, why would they move?

Amazing A-League must bring fans back into stadiums

Come on Geoff the story about pubs and clubs was first published in Nines newspaper the SMH, you need to let this agenda against Fox go, Nine didn’t promote the Indigenous All Stars game on Saturday night and I’m glad at least someone is calling them on it.
The fact you can’t watch it in Pubs is a big fail, I’m not sure about the City but our here hundreds of people go to the pub or club to watch Sports, how do they get that so wrong?
That being said I did enjoy the coverage on Gem though even though the Tahs suck.

The Wrap: More ticks than crosses in bright Super Rugby opening

Interesting there was absolutely no mention of Heretier Lumumba in this article.
Eddie’s treatment of Lumumba and the language he used around Adam Goodes proved that he shouldn’t have been in a leadership position in the first place.
As a proud Wiradjuri man I feel little sympathy for Eddie McGuire as he exits

The fall and burial of Eddie McGuire

Yeqh should be great, some serious talent out there in both the men’s and the women’s.
The Indigenous boys look very fit.

Finally, a rugby league pre-season game to get excited about

To my knowledge that team still exists in some capacity, but it’s hardly playing games like the NRL All stars on primetime tv.

Finally, a rugby league pre-season game to get excited about

Yeah a whole bus load of them, they are jumping out of their skin.
It’s why I tell people never underestimate the power of events like this.

Finally, a rugby league pre-season game to get excited about

Don’t get me started on why they don’t have an Indigenous representative team.

Finally, a rugby league pre-season game to get excited about

Great article, I was saying on another thread that my son and some of his mates are getting a bus from Bathurst!
Seeing these players represent our culture in this way just means so much they had to be there.
Can’t wait for this match, our family used to watch Rugby but now all of them watch NRL because of how talented and passionate the players are.
