Wouldn’t the oldest rivalry be Melbourne vs Geelong??

AFL News: Surprise new team enters race for 20th licence, Eagles close in on priority pick for 'self-inflicted incompetence'

SR ISN’T the cash cow…and that’s the problem!!!

'Curse the money all you want' but RA must work out what it wants from Super Rugby - otherwise the game is doomed

No matter the talent Piastri will need the dumb luck to be in the right team at the right time. Webber rejected his manager’s (Briatore) pleading to move to the Renault team in the early 2000’s and chose Williams instead. Fernando Alonso took the seat at Renault instead.

'He is going to do it at some point': Piastri on track to break Australia’s 44-year F1 drought

Someone has to pay for that piru. RA is currently broke. Maybe Forrest could pay for something like that?

'What the hell's going on': Ex-Wallabies question 'losing' culture, pathways at Waratahs

I’m not sure you can blame Lambie. The AFL put in a ridiculous prerequisite that neither WA or SA faced. They could both drop the demand for an unnecessary roof on the stadium and delay the timeline for completed construction of said new stadium till 2040 to be more reasonable.
The same AFL who deems Bellerive unfit for AFL games now allows North Melbourne to play there without any objections whatsoever!

How Tasmania's AFL dream could be killed by a $750 million dilemma

Exactly the flaw with SR Brendan: the heartland is NSW & QLD, who have one franchise each, even overtaken by AFL, where the sport has relatively minor presence at the grassroots level, with two franchises each in NSW & QLD.

How Italy revolutionised their youth system to produce a golden generation – and what Australia can learn from it

I think everyone has acknowledged that Schmidt is an excellent coach. Rennie was harshly dealt, but it seemed the former Chairman McClennan had a personal agenda to get Eddie Jones in as coach, and it backfired horrendously.

'It can be something great': Schmidt turns to 'scrum doctor' as next step in Wallabies rebuild

AgainAgain After gaining access to the kiwi mentality after regularly reading articles and comments for several years on an NZ news website called “Stuff” that my kiwi housemate at the time regularly looked at, I’ve noticed a distinctly anti-Australian narrative that pervades the culture.
NZ franchises and individuals competing in Australian sport become NZ proxies. I’ve read several articles and hundreds of comments over the years that imply some kind of “Australian” “bias” or “conspiracy” if the NZ Warriors lose in the NRL, or if the Wellington Phoenix lose in the A League etc.

'It can be something great': Schmidt turns to 'scrum doctor' as next step in Wallabies rebuild

That investment made in grassroots is made by a strong professional league with tribalism and massive growth in public interest, thus with ever growing finances. SR is losing money and public interest, and now with a top-down pressure to overpay the players due to the national team priority that is given.

How Italy revolutionised their youth system to produce a golden generation – and what Australia can learn from it

To be fair, New Zealanders don’t want an Australian, and in fact don’t want any non-New Zealander to coach the All Blacks, and NZR have never considered a candidate from outside NZ to coach them.
Schmidt is now the third New Zealander to coach the Wallabies, so RA has been far more open in this respect.

An NRC is a cash drain (on top of SR) that Australia can’t afford. NZR can’t even afford to run it’s current NPC, and needed outside financial assistance recently, and are currently seeking to reform the NPC system to make it less cash draining due to the failure of SRP.

Rob is right JD Kiwi. You open yourself up to criticism because you do cherry-pick constantly.

How Italy revolutionised their youth system to produce a golden generation – and what Australia can learn from it

And culturally irrelevant due to the dominance of the VFA & VFL Cec.

The Wrap: Good news and bad news for Rugby Australia as Brumbies and Rebels win local derbies

Australia had an extended golden era from the early 80’s till the early 2000’s. The Wallabies have reverted to a pre-80’s mediocrity, as evidenced by their lack of Bledisloe Cup success in 20+ years.
I would only assume Brendan that due to the prolonged slide of Aus, and improvement of the rest, that those particular countries would have more success vs Aus.

How Italy revolutionised their youth system to produce a golden generation – and what Australia can learn from it

Just natural cycles of sport. I don’t jump on and write an article about something to push my preferred narrative.

How did he cheat??

EXCLUSIVE: Schmidt to appoint David Warner as Wallabies leadership consultant

I love how Shane Watson called him out. 😁

EXCLUSIVE: Schmidt to appoint David Warner as Wallabies leadership consultant

You mean the places where the sport has had cultural relevance since the 19th century?

The Wrap: Good news and bad news for Rugby Australia as Brumbies and Rebels win local derbies

They are legit criticisms. You just don’t like being told this though. You’re jumping on a golden generation or two for Ireland (and Italy breaking even in the 2024 6N) to promote your favoured model of domestic competition, yet don’t mention Wales or Scotland, and the basketcases they’ve turned into in recent history.

Wow, Launceston?! 😱

'Island defended': Tasmania make history in cliffhanger win over United to claim first NBL championship

Once again, you’re being disingenuous. Rugby union is a tiny niche sport globally, where NZ & SAF have the natural advantage due to cultural dominance in their countries (at least with the white minority in SAF).
NZ’s true international rivals are: Fiji, Samoa, Tonga…and none of these countries have the population/playing numbers and economies to challenge the likes of NZ, SAF etc on a consistent basis.
SAF defended their world cup in 2023 after completely withdrawing (after NZR took unilateral action without consultation) from SR back in 2020. So not sure why you’re trying to link it to WC success???

How Italy revolutionised their youth system to produce a golden generation – and what Australia can learn from it

I’ve made this argument countless times with you. You’re too parochial about it to admit the massive flaws.
You jumped on Italian “success” (breaking even) in the 2024 Six Nations to push the SR style development model that you are biased towards.

It’s great for them, but weird how Mercedes have fallen! 😱

'We need to continue to push hard': McLaren's 12-month progress shows gains can be made in a cost cap era

He’s overshadowed by a 42 year od Ben! 😂

Stroll in the Park: What happened when Lance's 'only fan' shadowed him in Melbourne

The disaster is the competition they play in, and the way RA & NZR treat that competition.
