I’m not sure you can blame Lambie. The AFL put in a ridiculous prerequisite that neither WA or SA faced. They could both drop the demand for an unnecessary roof on the stadium and delay the timeline for completed construction of said new stadium till 2040 to be more reasonable.
The same AFL who deems Bellerive unfit for AFL games now allows North Melbourne to play there without any objections whatsoever!

Exactly the flaw with SR Brendan: the heartland is NSW & QLD, who have one franchise each, even overtaken by AFL, where the sport has relatively minor presence at the grassroots level, with two franchises each in NSW & QLD.

NZ franchises and individuals competing in Australian sport become NZ proxies. I’ve read several articles and hundreds of comments over the years that imply some kind of “Australian” “bias” or “conspiracy” if the NZ Warriors lose in the NRL, or if the Wellington Phoenix lose in the A League etc.

That investment made in grassroots is made by a strong professional league with tribalism and massive growth in public interest, thus with ever growing finances. SR is losing money and public interest, and now with a top-down pressure to overpay the players due to the national team priority that is given.

To be fair, New Zealanders don’t want an Australian, and in fact don’t want any non-New Zealander to coach the All Blacks, and NZR have never considered a candidate from outside NZ to coach them.
Schmidt is now the third New Zealander to coach the Wallabies, so RA has been far more open in this respect.

An NRC is a cash drain (on top of SR) that Australia can’t afford. NZR can’t even afford to run it’s current NPC, and needed outside financial assistance recently, and are currently seeking to reform the NPC system to make it less cash draining due to the failure of SRP.

They are legit criticisms. You just don’t like being told this though. You’re jumping on a golden generation or two for Ireland (and Italy breaking even in the 2024 6N) to promote your favoured model of domestic competition, yet don’t mention Wales or Scotland, and the basketcases they’ve turned into in recent history.

Once again, you’re being disingenuous. Rugby union is a tiny niche sport globally, where NZ & SAF have the natural advantage due to cultural dominance in their countries (at least with the white minority in SAF).
NZ’s true international rivals are: Fiji, Samoa, Tonga…and none of these countries have the population/playing numbers and economies to challenge the likes of NZ, SAF etc on a consistent basis.
SAF defended their world cup in 2023 after completely withdrawing (after NZR took unilateral action without consultation) from SR back in 2020. So not sure why you’re trying to link it to WC success???
